Abstract

This study aims to reveal the problems of student concentration in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) lessons at MTs Nurul Iman Tanjung Morawa and explore the causes and strategies teachers use to overcome them. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and documentation methods, this study found that low student concentration is influenced by a combination of internal and external factors. Internal factors include low motivation, varying cognitive readiness, and unstable emotional conditions, while external factors include monotonous learning methods, limited learning media, and distractions from the environment and the use of gadgets. The manifestation of these problems can be seen through students' passive behavior, boredom, and difficulty in understanding and remembering the subject matter. Teachers play an active role in overcoming this through the application of varied learning methods, the use of visual media, the provision of motivation, and the creation of an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The results of this study confirm that improving student concentration requires synergy between teachers, the school environment, and family support in order to create meaningful and effective SKI learning.

Abstract

People today have access to the diverse opinions that exist within fiqh al-‘ibādah (jurisprudence of worship), which consequently leads to differences in religious practice. As a result, ikhtilāf (juridical disagreement) may arise, potentially giving way to conflict. How, then, should a Muslim respond to ikhtilāf within fiqh al-‘ibādah? Yusuf al-Qaradawi has proposed a particular attitude toward dealing with ikhtilāf in matters of worship. This study seeks to explore the attitude recommended by Yusuf al-Qaradawi in addressing ikhtilāf within fiqh al-‘ibādah. To answer this question, a doctrinal legal research method was employed. The primary data source is his work al-Ṣaḥwah al-Islāmiyyah bayna al-Ikhtilāf al-Mashrū‘ wa al-Tafarruq al-Madhmūm. The findings indicate that there are six recommended attitudes for dealing with ikhtilāf in fiqh al-‘ibādah to prevent conflict: first, sincerity toward Allah (SWT) and detachment from personal desires; second, avoidance of fanaticism (ta‘aṣṣub), whether toward a teacher, a school of thought, or a group; third, maintaining good assumptions about others; fourth, refraining from blaming or finding faults in fellow Muslims; fifth, avoiding argumentative behavior and obstinacy in disputes; and sixth, engaging in dialogue through the best and most respectful means.

Abstract

Marriage marks the beginning of family formation, which requires physical, mental, emotional, and financial readiness, particularly in facing health risks such as stunting. To address this issue, the government, through Presidential Regulation No. 72 of 2021 in collaboration with BKKBN, launched the Electronic Ready for Marriage and Pregnancy Certificate (Elsimil) as a premarital health screening instrument. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Elsimil Certificate as a marriage requirement in preventing stunting at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) of Kisaran Barat District from the perspective of Maqāṣid al-Syarī‘ah, as well as to assess its effectiveness as a public policy based on maṣlaḥah (public interest). The research employed a qualitative method with a combined normative and empirical approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of Elsimil at the KUA of Kisaran Barat District has been relatively effective in reducing stunting rates, as indicated by a significant decline in cases following its implementation. Conceptually, this policy aligns with the objectives of Maqāṣid al-Syarī‘ah in achieving public welfare through the protection of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and lineage (ḥifẓ al-naṣl), and serves as evidence of the integration of Islamic values into modern public policy focused on family health.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the values of inter-ethnic tolerance in the perspective of the Prophet Muhammad’s hadiths as an ethical foundation for Islamic social relations in multicultural societies. The recurrence of ethnic conflicts in Indonesia, such as those in Papua and Rempang, reflects a gap between Islam’s normative ideals and contemporary social realities. In this context, the research examines prophetic messages embedded in authentic hadiths that emphasize human equality regardless of race or ethnicity. Employing a thematic (maudhu‘i) approach, this study integrates both textual and contextual analyses of selected hadiths related to the principles of equality, solidarity, and the prohibition of tribal or ethnic fanaticism (‘ashabiyyah). To deepen the analysis, insights from the sociology of ethnicity and conflict are incorporated in order to construct a more comprehensive understanding of how these prophetic values are applied within the Indonesian social setting. The findings demonstrate that the Prophet consistently rejected all forms of ethnic superiority and upheld three central moral pillars of Islamic social ethics: equality, human solidarity, and social justice. These principles also serve as the foundation of wasathiyah, the Islamic doctrine of moderation characterized by balance, justice, and the rejection of all forms of extremism, including ethnic or tribal fanaticism, which may threaten social harmony. These prophetic values function as both spiritual and sociological mechanisms for preventing disintegration and strengthening social cohesion amid Indonesia’s cultural and ethnic diversity. The contextualization of wasathiyah and prophetic ethics within education, public policy, and intergroup discourse contributes to fostering religious moderation and developing a humanistic and inclusive Islamic interpretation that aligns with the realities of a multicultural nation.

Abstract

The implementation of the “hemat” (economy) feature in online ride-hailing services represents a digital promotion strategy aimed at attracting consumers through fare reductions. However, this policy creates systemic pressure on drivers, particularly regarding income and workload. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the feature and assess the form of driver protection from the perspective of al-maṣlaḥah. A qualitative approach with an empirical legal design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 Grab and Gojek drivers in Medan City, as well as a review of Islamic legal literature and digital transportation policies. The findings reveal that most drivers feel compelled to activate the feature due to algorithmic pressure, resulting in decreased net income and increased working hours without adequate social protection. The al-maṣlaḥah analysis indicates that the feature does not fulfill the principles of shar‘ī benefit, as it fails to protect the drivers’ lives (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl), and contradicts the principles of riḍā bi al-tarāḍī (mutual consent), the prohibition of gharar (uncertainty), and the legal maxim lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār (no harm and no reciprocating harm) in Islamic business ethics. The study recommends that online ride-hailing platforms revise or discontinue the “hemat” feature, improve order distribution and fare deduction schemes, enhance transparency and partner participation, and encourage government regulations that ensure fair working conditions for the informal sector, aligning with justice, protection, and the balance of rights in digital business ethics.

Abstract

The implementation of West Pasaman Regency Regional Regulation No. 9 of 2017 regarding the prohibition of soliciting donations on public roads has not been fully effective, as a clear gap remains between legal norms and community practices. Although the regulation aims to maintain public order and ensure road safety, roadside fundraising continues, especially for mosque construction and religious social activities. This study analyzes the implementation of Article 24 in Dusun binjai, Sungai Aur District, and examines the policy through the perspective of siyāsah dustūriyyah. The research uses an empirical juridical method with a socio-legal approach, employing interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that several factors hinder the regulation’s effectiveness, including low legal awareness, strong cultural traditions of mutual assistance, economic limitations, weak supervision, and insufficient government socialization. Many residents still perceive collecting donations on the road as an expression of social solidarity rather than a legal violation. However, supporting factors also exist, such as legal awareness among mosque administrators, the involvement of religious and local leaders, and the availability of legitimate fundraising mechanisms. From the siyāsah dustūriyyah perspective, the policy aligns with the principles of public welfare (al-maslahah al-‘āmmah) and the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah), particularly the protection of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and property (ḥifẓ al-māl). The prohibition aims to prevent harm and uphold social order. Nonetheless, the regulation’s success requires a persuasive and humanistic approach, along with accessible legal fundraising alternatives. The study concludes that effective implementation depends on collaboration between government authorities, religious leaders, and the community to create a safer and more orderly social environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the practice of order cancellation by drivers on the InDriver application as a strategy to avoid VAT and commission deductions, viewed from the perspective of Islamic transaction ethics according to Imam An-Nawawi. This study uses empirical juridical research with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and observations, as well as a purposive sampling approach to active drivers who use the InDriver application in Medan and its surroundings. The results show that the practice of canceling orders with an agreement between the driver and passenger to continue the trip outside the application system is done consciously as a form of tax and commission deduction avoidance. Informants stated that this action is done for economic reasons, limited balance, and the influence of the social environment of fellow drivers. Although it is acknowledged that this practice is not entirely ethical and contains elements of manipulation, it is still considered reasonable under certain conditions. From Imam An-Nawawi's perspective, honesty is a key principle in transactions. Actions to avoid established obligations, such as commissions or VAT, fall into the category of fraud and contradict Islamic values. Therefore, the practice of intentionally canceling orders is considered inconsistent with Sharia principles that uphold trustworthiness, justice, and blessings in seeking sustenance. This study recommends the need for ongoing Islamic business ethics education for online transportation operators, as well as more prudent government policies in setting VAT and commission rates that align with the socioeconomic conditions of the community, particularly for online motorcycle taxi drivers.
