Abstract

The increasing prevalence of cross-border marriages necessitates robust legal frameworks governing matrimonial property rights, particularly regarding post-nuptial agreements. Indonesia's Constitutional Court Decision No. 69/PUU-XIII/2015 marked a significant departure from traditional restrictions by permitting post-nuptial agreements, a development with profound implications for mixed marriages involving Indonesian nationals and foreign spouses. This research examines the legal consequences of post-nuptial agreements in cross-border marriages under Indonesian law, analyzing how this constitutional development interacts with property ownership restrictions, citizenship regulations, and private international law principles. Employing normative legal research methodology with comparative, statutory, and case-law approaches, this study analyzes Indonesian marriage law (Law No. 1/1974 as amended by Law No. 16/2019), citizenship law (Law No. 12/2006), and agrarian restrictions, comparing these with the Netherlands, Singapore, and Australia. The research reveals that while Constitutional Court Decision 69/2015 expanded spousal autonomy by permitting agreements to be concluded at any time during the subsistence of marriage rather than exclusively before marriage, implementation challenges persist due to inadequate harmonization between marriage law, property law, and immigration regulations. The findings demonstrate critical gaps in legal certainty regarding the retroactive application of post-nuptial agreements, recognition across jurisdictions, and their effectiveness in navigating foreign ownership restrictions on Indonesian land. This study contributes to international family law scholarship by providing a comprehensive English-language analysis of Indonesia's post-nuptial agreement framework in cross-border contexts, offering recommendations for legislative reform aligned with private international law standards.

Abstract

Generation Z students, as digital natives, possess unique learning characteristics that are heavily reliant on technology. However, accounting is often perceived as a rigid and monotonous subject in vocational education. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into learning media offers a new level of personalization and interactivity that has the potential to reshape student motivation. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and classroom observations. The data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, facilitated by ATLAS.ti software to ensure systematic coding and network analysis. The results indicate that AI-based tools enhance students' intrinsic motivation by providing instant feedback and reducing academic anxiety. AI acts as a "learning assistant" that boosts Gen Z students' self-confidence, as they perceive their skills to be more aligned with the demands of the modern accounting industry (Accounting 4.0). AI-based learning media effectively enhance Gen Z students' learning motivation by functioning as an adaptive "learning assistant" that provides personalized, instant feedback and reduces psychological barriers. The integration of AI in vocational accounting education is recommended not as a substitute for teachers, but as an instructional partner to create more engaging and relevant learning experiences for the digital generation.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the extent of stress experienced by graduate students while working, spending time with family, and attending classes, as well as to explore various strategies to cope with the stress they face in managing multiple roles. A qualitative research method was used for this study. Data were collected through interviews and observations. The participants in this study were graduate students who were employed. The collected data were analyzed and conclusions were drawn. The research findings on stress related to the dual roles of work, family, and academic studies experienced by graduate students include academic pressures such as course materials, assignments, class schedules, time allocated for assignments, tuition fees, missed class information, forgetting to complete assignments, and knowledge-related issues. Meanwhile, pressures in the workplace include a high volume of work, complex tasks requiring extra mental effort, short deadlines, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, unsuitable leadership, and difficult coworkers. Additionally, simultaneously juggling multiple roles creates its own pressures, such as the need to complete work and academic tasks at the same time. Various strategies employed by graduate students in managing dual roles aim to minimize stress, resolve conflicts, and help students achieve their desired goals. These strategies are tailored to the type of stress present. Furthermore, each issue requires its own unique resolution, as no two problems are the same.

Abstract

Poverty in Indonesia remains structural and enduring despite constitutional commitments to social justice. Viewing law as a social practice within a stratified society rather than merely a written standard, this article examines structural poverty from a sociological perspective. Based on a review of academic literature, relevant public policy studies, and laws and regulations, this research employs a juridical-sociological approach with qualitative methods. The results show that structural poverty in Indonesia is not only caused by financial constraints but is also created and perpetuated by the ways in which laws are written, implemented, and accessed. Law often operates administratively and procedurally rather than functioning fully as a tool for social transformation, owing to the gap between law in books and law in action, limited access to justice, and an elite-dominated legal culture. This article argues that, without institutional and cultural reforms, the inherent limitations of law within an unequal social system may actually exacerbate inequality rather than redress it. The distinctive conceptual contribution of this paper lies in reframing structural poverty as a failure of law to operate as a social practice, rather than merely a failure of economic or social policy. In addition to offering a critical perspective for developing community-based responsive legal reform aimed at substantive social justice in Indonesia, this study theoretically advances the sociology of law by establishing law as a constitutive component of the system that reproduces inequality.

Abstract

This study examines the legal analysis of imposing criminal sanctions on online gambling perpetrators from the perspective of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE). The development of information technology has shifted the modus operandi of gambling from conventional to digital, creating complex legal challenges in criminal law enforcement in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze the criminal law provisions for online gambling crimes under the ITE Law and to assess the effectiveness of imposing criminal sanctions on online gambling perpetrators. The method used is normative legal research with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach, by adopting primary legal materials in the form of the Criminal Code, Law No. 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to the ITE Law, as well as secondary legal materials in the form of literature, journals, and related research results. The results of the study indicate that the regulation of online gambling crimes is covered in Article 27, paragraph (2), and Article 45, paragraph (2) of the ITE Law with a maximum prison sentence of 6 years or a maximum fine of IDR 1 billion. However, the effectiveness of law enforcement still faces obstacles in the aspects of evidence, cross-country jurisdiction, and limited resources of law enforcement officers. This study concludes that it is necessary to strengthen regulations, increase the capacity of law enforcement, and coordinate between institutions to increase the effectiveness of imposing criminal sanctions on online gambling perpetrators in Indonesia.

Abstract

The escalating geopolitical rivalry between major powers, particularly the United States and China, has profoundly reshaped the maritime security landscape of the Indo-Pacific region. Strategic sea lanes, such as the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea, have become central arenas for this competition, creating a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment with direct implications for regional stability. This study analyzes the impact of this great power competition on Indonesia's maritime security and formulates an optimal national strategy. Employing a qualitative approach, the research utilizes a SWOT analysis strengthened by Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) and External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS) matrices. The findings reveal that Indonesia is positioned in Quadrant I of the SWOT matrix, indicating significant internal strengths and substantial external opportunities. Consequently, a Strength-Opportunity (SO) strategy emerges as the most optimal choice. This strategy advocates for Indonesia to leverage its geostrategic position and diplomatic capital to lead regional cooperation, enhance maritime domain awareness through technology, and pursue adaptive defense diplomacy, thereby maintaining the stability of strategic sea lanes amidst great power rivalry.

Abstract

Banking companies play a strategic role in supporting national economic growth, making their financial performance a primary concern for investors and stakeholders. Net profit is a crucial indicator for assessing a company’s performance and sustainability, and it is theoretically influenced by revenue and total assets. Discrepancies in previous research findings regarding the influence of revenue and total assets on net profit indicate the need for further empirical studies, particularly in the banking industry, which is characterized by high liquidity and substantial market capitalization. This study aims to analyze the effect of revenue and total assets on net profit in banking companies indexed in IDX30 for the period 2014–2023. The research employs a quantitative method using secondary data in the form of annual financial reports from PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression, preceded by classical assumption tests and supplemented by the coefficient of determination (R²) test, F-test, and t-test. Data processing was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) application. The results indicate that revenue has a positive and significant effect on net profit. Furthermore, total assets also have a positive and significant effect on net profit. These findings suggest that increased revenue and optimal management of total assets—both current and fixed assets—play a substantial role in enhancing net profit in banking companies listed in the IDX30 index.

Abstract

The development of electric vehicles (EVs) in Indonesia is accelerating rapidly, in line with the government's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of clean energy. However, EV adoption still faces various challenges that affect consumers' purchase intention. This study aims to analyze the influence of mass media influence, environmental concern, government support, vehicle performance, price perception, and infrastructure on attitudes and subjective norms, and their impact on the purchase intention of the BYD Atto 1 electric vehicle, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the theoretical framework. This study employed a quantitative approach through a survey of prospective EV users, involving 120 respondents, with data analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results indicate that all proposed hypotheses yielded significant results, supporting the developed theoretical model. Therefore, this study provides an empirical understanding of how social, psychological, and structural factors shape attitudes and subjective norms, which ultimately influence purchase intention toward electric vehicles.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the actual conditions of interoperability within the command and control system, identify the obstacles encountered, and formulate strengthening strategies to enhance the effectiveness of security crisis management at the RI–Malaysia border. This research employs a qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews with seven key informants from the TNI, Polri, Regional Government, and border communities, alongside a review of Pamtas Task Force operational reports. Data analysis follows the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, encompassing data condensation, coding, and data display, reinforced by PESTEL and SWOT frameworks to identify external and internal factors affecting the command and control system. The results show that the command system operates hierarchically from Kodam VI/Mulawarman to the Pamtas Task Force, with coordination conducted through Forkopimda and bilateral cooperation through Patkor Malindo. However, its effectiveness is hampered by the absence of an integrated command center, limited communication technology in blank spot areas, overlapping authorities, and insufficient technical regulations on interoperability. Strengthening strategies derived from the Strengths–Opportunities (SO) approach include: the establishment of an AI-based Integrated Border Command Center (IBCC) 4.0, the adoption of modern technology for real-time data integration, the reinforcement of bilateral defense diplomacy, the empowerment of communities through community-based security, and the enhancement of human resource capacity. The research concludes that optimizing interoperability requires military structural integration, modern technology, inter-agency synergy, and solid bilateral cooperation through an adaptive, collaborative, and sustainable approach.

Abstract

Background: Stroke in children and adolescents, though rare, presents significant diagnostic challenges due to its atypical manifestations compared to adults. Ischemic stroke in this population can initially present with seizures, including status epilepticus, potentially delaying accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Objective: This case report aims to describe the clinical presentation, diagnostic process, and management of an adolescent male with acute ischemic stroke whose primary manifestation was status epilepticus, highlighting the importance of considering stroke in the differential diagnosis of new-onset seizures. Methods: We report the case of a 14-year-old boy who presented to the emergency department with unconsciousness following prolonged seizures. Clinical history, physical examination, laboratory findings, and neuroimaging results were collected and analyzed. A non-contrast head CT scan was performed to investigate the underlying etiology. Results: The patient experienced recurrent seizures, including a prolonged episode lasting over one hour, which constituted status epilepticus. Initial vital signs and routine laboratory tests were unremarkable. A non-contrast CT scan revealed multiple ischemic lesions in the left internal capsule, left thalamus, left corona radiata, and subcortical regions of the left temporoparietal lobe, as well as the white matter of the right parietal lobe, with mass effect compressing the left lateral ventricle. These findings confirmed the diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke. The patient received supportive care, anti-seizure medication, and antiplatelet therapy, leading to gradual clinical improvement. Conclusion: This case underscores that ischemic stroke can present with status epilepticus in adolescents, a demographic where stroke is often not the initial consideration.
