Abstract

Health is a necessity for everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, and health insurance is essential to ensure access to quality medical services while mitigating the financial impact of accidents and illnesses. In Indonesia, a common issue with insurance is the lack of customer understanding of policy terms, leading to misunderstandings. Legal Protection for Health Insurance Policyholders Against Claim Denials Due to Non-Transparent Information in Insurance Policies includes several measures. Customers should actively ask agents and insurance companies for clear explanations of policy terms, carefully review the policy before signing, and contact the Financial Services Authority (OJK) or the Consumer Dispute Settlement Board (BPSK) for mediation. If these steps fail, customers can resort to civil lawsuits. Legal remedies for failed claims involve understanding one’s rights, gathering relevant evidence, seeking written clarification from the insurance company about the claim rejection, and filing an official complaint to OJK. If the issue remains unresolved, the customer can pursue legal action in court.

Abstract

Excessive alcohol consumption, including traditional alcoholic beverages such as Cap Tikus (alcohol content ±45%) from North Sulawesi, can induce liver damage characterized by steatosis, inflammation, and necrosis. Leilem leaf (Clerodendrum minahassae) extract, rich in phenolic and flavonoid compounds, has potential hepatoprotective effects due to its antioxidant properties. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of Leilem leaf extract on the histopathological features of the liver in Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by Cap Tikus alcoholic beverage. This experimental study used a post-test-only control group design with 24 male Wistar rats divided into four groups: normal control, negative control (Cap Tikus 2.16 mL/day), treatment I (Leilem extract 150 mg/kgBW + Cap Tikus), and treatment II (Leilem extract 300 mg/kgBW + Cap Tikus). Treatments were administered orally for 14 days. Liver tissue was processed for histopathological examination using hematoxylin-eosin staining and observed under a light microscope. The negative control group showed significant steatosis and inflammatory cell infiltration. The treatment groups exhibited reduced steatosis and inflammation, along with increased hepatocyte regeneration. The higher dose (300 mg/kgBW) demonstrated greater hepatoprotective effects and more prominent regeneration compared to the lower dose (150 mg/kgBW). No necrosis or fibrosis was observed in any group. Leilem leaf extract exerts a hepatoprotective effect by suppressing inflammatory responses and enhancing hepatocyte regeneration in Wistar rats induced with Cap Tikus. The highest protective efficacy was observed with Leilem leaf extract at 300 mg/kgBW.

Abstract

This paper revisits objectivism and its relevance in the present. Objectivism is an understanding that believes in the process of thinking objectively and epistemically, and seeks to find factual truth, which is the truth that is found if a scientist or researcher does not inject interpretation into the object being interpreted. Modern science is very strongly attached to the notion of objectivism. This can be seen from how modern science, with all its methodological and empirical advantages, is able to answer many of the world’s problems. Thus, modern science has earned an honorable position in this world. However, the power of modern science in all its methodological and empirical forms has been criticized by three thinkers, namely Thomas Kuhn, Paul K. Feyerabend, and Richard Rorty. These three critics challenge the methodology and emphasize that nothing is purely objective. Thomas Kuhn emphasizes the existence of paradigms that influence researchers; Feyerabend stresses the need to open up space for creativity; Richard Rorty highlights the role of language and argues that something can be called truth if it is useful and situated in a particular temporal context. What these critics note has been addressed by the development of modern science today, through the recognition of paradigms and the openness of scientific methods to support innovation. Today, the word “objective” is used in the process of critical thinking. Critical thinking uses an objective process to select, test, and criticize information based on criteria regarding whether the information is valid and true, or merely a hoax. Therefore, the process of objective thinking today is still relevant to be used in the context of critical thinking.

Abstract

As globalization continues to develop, culture and culinary traditions have become areas of great interest to the international community. In this context, several countries practice diplomacy through gastrodiplomacy as a means to introduce and promote their national culture and cuisine to the world. The Indonesia Spice Up The World gastrodiplomacy program serves as a diplomatic tool for Indonesia, a nation rich in cultural and culinary diversity, to promote its culture and cuisine globally. Although obstacles remain in its implementation, several initiatives have been carried out. The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Jeddah, in collaboration with the Indonesian diaspora, organizations, and other relevant agencies, continues to work toward greater integration of Indonesian gastrodiplomacy efforts in Jeddah. Important dimensions for understanding the development of Indonesian gastrodiplomacy in Jeddah include product marketing strategy, gastrodiplomacy campaigning, food event strategy, coalition-building strategy, and media relations strategy. Using an exploratory qualitative approach, this study aims to identify and explain the obstacles to the advancement of Indonesian gastrodiplomacy in Jeddah. The results of the study show that challenges persist, particularly the low participation of the restaurant diaspora. This lack of engagement hinders the optimization of culinary promotion and networking opportunities in the region.

Abstract

This study discusses the legal vacuum surrounding the abuse of addictive substances, particularly in cases of illegal glue use among young people, which has become increasingly concerning for society. Across Indonesia, there have been several cases of death resulting from the misuse of addictive substances contained in glue. The main issue examined concerns criminal law policy as part of state legal politics and the theory of consumer position in relation to the abuse of glue containing addictive substances. The research method employed is normative descriptive, utilizing both legislative and conceptual approaches. The results of the study explain that, according to the Consumer Position Theory, a contract is not a prerequisite for imposing an obligation on business actors to protect consumers. This obligation exists regardless of whether a contractual relationship is established. Therefore, with or without a contract between business actors and consumers, the responsibility of business actors to protect their consumers remains. Business actors must not prioritize profit alone. Moreover, even if a business actor has informed consumers about the potential hazards of a product to life or health, this does not automatically exempt the business actor from criminal liability. Each case must instead be examined individually based on its specific circumstances.

Abstract

Glue abuse as an addictive substance among adolescents and marginalized communities is a social and health problem that requires comprehensive policy interventions. This paper aims to formulate strategies to counter glue abuse through a regulatory approach, distribution control, strengthening of the social environment, enforcement of sanctions, and rehabilitation. The method used is a policy analysis based on a normative review of laws and regulations related to public health and social rehabilitation, accompanied by the formulation of an implementation mechanism at the local government level. The results of the study show that the issuance of regional regulations/regional head regulations regarding sanctions for distributors, sellers, and consumers, as well as the implementation of a “one-tap” distribution system, can restrict access and suppress the circulation of glue. Environmental strengthening is carried out through the improvement of public facilities, the initiation of economic activities in vulnerable areas, and joint patrols. The enforcement of administrative and social sanctions, the provision of rewards and punishments for regional apparatus, the establishment of complaint channels, and the socialization of P4GN strengthen the preventive effect. On the curative side, the establishment of permanent rehabilitation facilities based on health and social regulations is a prerequisite for sustainable recovery. With the integration of prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation, this policy has the potential to reduce the prevalence of glue abuse while enhancing public health protection at the regional level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze financial management strategies in the outpatient unit of Dr. Sobirin Musi Rawas Hospital in addressing the challenges of implementing the National Health Insurance (JKN) and increasing hospital revenue. The research employed a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques consisting of in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and analysis of financial documents. A SWOT analysis was applied to identify internal and external factors influencing financial performance and to determine the hospital’s strategic position. The results indicate that the hospital possesses several strengths, including competent human resources, relatively effective inter-unit coordination, utilization of the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS), and a relatively high level of patient trust and outpatient visits. However, the study also identified several weaknesses, such as delays in BPJS claim disbursements, inefficient administrative processes, limited integration of digital systems, and the absence of regular financial evaluations. Opportunities available to the hospital arise from the sustainability of the JKN program, advances in digital technology, and potential collaboration with external parties. Meanwhile, threats include increasing competition from private healthcare facilities, rigid BPJS regulations, and cash flow instability caused by delayed claims. Based on the SWOT analysis, the hospital is positioned in Quadrant I, indicating that a growth strategy is the most appropriate approach to improve financial management and hospital revenue.

Abstract

The Indonesia–Malaysia land border in Kalimantan is a strategic area with a high vulnerability to illegal cross-border activities, particularly through unofficial routes known as jalan tikus (rat paths), which continue to increase in number. Border security efforts remain largely dependent on conventional patrols, which are constrained by limited personnel, difficult terrain, and insufficient infrastructure, resulting in suboptimal surveillance effectiveness. In this context, the Physical Barrier System (PBS) serves as a critical technical solution, functioning as a physical obstacle, an early detection mechanism, and a deterrent to prevent illegal border crossings. This study aims to analyse the technical and design aspects of PBS implementation in supporting the border security operations of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia, TNI) using a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data were collected through literature review, analysis of operational and regulatory documents, and empirical reports from Border Security Battalions, and analysed using thematic categorization and source triangulation. The findings reveal that PBS deployment remains uneven and weakly integrated with sensor-based technologies, while its design has not yet fulfilled the principles of defense-in-depth, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), and integrated access control. This study proposes an optimized PBS framework incorporating modular, terrain-adaptive design, intrusion detection sensors, early warning systems, structural reinforcement, and data integration with sector command posts.

Abstract

This legal research aims to examine the legal certainty of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) by the Prabowo-Gibran government to achieve legal certainty and good governance. This study employs a normative juridical approach, using primary data derived from laws, regulations, and court decisions. The results indicate that the implementation of the MBG program by the Prabowo-Gibran government lacks a clear and definitive legal basis, which is not aligned with the objectives of the law and the principles of good governance. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the implementation of the MBG program by the Prabowo-Gibran administration lacks a strong and well-defined legal framework, resulting in inconsistency with the objectives of the law and the principles of good governance. Therefore, it is recommended that the government promptly evaluate and strengthen the legal foundation of the MBG program, preferably through a Government Regulation or, ideally, through a Law, to ensure legal certainty and the realization of good governance.

Abstract

This study examines simulacra as a form of distortion of the meaning of the ritual of the Soul Mass in the video clip "In Count" by the band. Feast which is released in 2023. This video clip is interesting to study because it presents a representation of religious rituals that is full of visual symbols, but placed in a digital culture context that emphasizes media documentation, visibility, and connectivity. This research aims to understand how simulacra is displayed as a distortion of the meaning of the ritual of the Soul Mass through visual symbols that appear in a series of scenes. The method used is interpretive qualitative research with Roland Barthes semiotic analysis, which includes the reading of denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings. The selection of units of analysis was carried out through Jean Baudrillard's simulacra theory, focusing on ten scenes representing the five aspects of simulacra. The results show that these video clips build on the dominant myth that represents social media and digital connectivity as a new authority in contemporary religious practices. The ritual of the Mass of the Spirits is no longer fully interpreted as a sacred experience that is transcendent, but is reduced to a visual performance that can be recorded, displayed, and socially validated. These findings confirm the existence of a process of desacralization of worship, as well as serve as a social critique of the shift in the religious orientation of the people in today's visual and digital culture.
