Abstract

Taxes are a potential source of state revenue to be able to achieve development success, so that from year to year tax revenues are expected to continue to increase in an effort to finance national development. Taxpayer compliance is an important factor in realizing tax revenue targets. The higher the taxpayer's compliance, the more tax revenue will increase, and vice versa. This study aims to test and analyze the influence of information technology in taxation, tax socialization, and tax sanctions on the compliance of individual taxpayers at the Bandung Cibeunying Pratama Tax Service Office. The research method uses explanatory research, a data collection technique using primary data obtained through the distribution of questionnaires. The research sample was 100 respondents, the sampling method used accidental sampling. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study show that descriptively the application of information technology in taxation, tax socialization, and tax sanctions is optimal, while taxpayer compliance is still low. As for verifiability, the results were obtained that: (1) information technology in taxation has a significant effect on taxpayer compliance, (2) tax socialization has a significant effect on taxpayer compliance, (3) tax sanctions have a significant effect on taxpayer compliance, and (4) information technology in taxation, tax socialization, and tax sanctions have a significant effect on taxpayer compliance.

Abstract

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) significantly affects health and concentration in educational environments. Factors such as learning activities, population density, and ventilation systems influence the presence of airborne microorganisms. This research aims to compare the airborne flora before and after learning activities in the Skill Lab and Tutorial rooms at the Faculty of Medicine, YARSI University, and to analyze the findings from an Islamic perspective. A descriptive qualitative–quantitative method was applied, with 20 samples collected using the settle plate method on Nutrient Agar media. Samples were incubated at 35–37°C for 48 hours, and the bacterial colonies were then counted (CFU) and identified using Gram staining. The results show that the number of airborne microorganisms in five Skill Labs and five Tutorial rooms remained below the standard threshold for air quality (<700 CFU/m³). However, there was a noticeable increase in the number of colonies after learning activities, with the lowest value recorded at 0 CFU/m³ and the highest at 13 CFU/m³. This increase is suspected to be related to human activity, density, and mobility during class sessions. Microscopic identification revealed the predominance of Gram-positive Coccus bacteria, with some Gram-negative rods. In conclusion, the number of airborne microorganisms in the Skill Lab and Tutorial rooms at the Faculty of Medicine, YARSI University, is still within the quality standard, although learning activities contribute to an increase in colony numbers. Therefore, optimal management of the room environment is necessary to maintain good air quality.

Abstract

Libraries and classrooms are indoor environments with high usage intensity, making Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) crucial for the health and comfort of occupants. Indoor air flora is influenced by various environmental factors, including human activities, occupant density, temperature, humidity, lighting, and ventilation. Airborne microorganisms can act as vectors for pathogens that impact health; therefore, monitoring air flora before and after activities is essential. This study employed a descriptive quantitative–qualitative approach. A total of 20 air samples were collected from the library and classrooms using the settle plate method with Nutrient Agar media, both before and after activities. Samples were incubated at 37°C for 24–48 hours, after which bacterial colonies were counted (CFU) and identified based on colony morphology and Gram staining. The results showed an increase in airborne colonies after activities, particularly in classrooms, with the highest count observed in Class 10A. The library exhibited relatively fewer colonies, remaining below the standard IAQ threshold of 700 CFU/m³. Microbial identification revealed that Gram-negative Cocci dominated in classrooms, while Gram-positive Cocci were more prevalent in the library. These results indicate that human activities contribute significantly to the increase in airborne microorganisms. In conclusion, high occupancy rates and activity levels in classrooms lead to higher microbial loads, whereas libraries maintain lower counts. Human activity directly affects the concentration of indoor air microorganisms. To support a healthy and comfortable learning environment, effective hygiene management and optimal ventilation systems are essential for maintaining good Indoor Air Quality.

Abstract

This study examines the political economy of media representation, focusing on the coverage of Sesingal Tidung culture in Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Tarakan. Utilizing Vincent Mosco's media political economy theory, the research explores the commodification, spatialization, and structuration processes that shape how local culture is portrayed. The study highlights the challenges in preserving cultural identity amidst the pressures of commercialization and government policies. It finds that media coverage, while promoting economic potential, often undermines the authenticity of cultural expressions. This research contributes to understanding how media both reflects and influences the political and economic dynamics surrounding cultural preservation in the globalized media landscape.

Abstract

Pedestrian safety at road crossings is a critical global challenge, with the World Health Organization reporting that pedestrians account for 23% of all road traffic deaths worldwide. In rapidly urbanizing areas like Cibubur, East Jakarta, inadequate crossing facilities heighten risks amid intensifying traffic on the Cibubur Alternative Highway. Systematic observations over three days (December 15–17, 2022) revealed peak-hour traffic volumes of 2,860 vehicles and a 32.9% drop in pedestrian crossings due to safety fears. This study designs, develops, and tests an Arduino Mega-based pedestrian crossing aid prototype that uses HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors to detect pedestrians automatically and control traffic lights without manual buttons. The three-stage architecture includes input processing via distance measurement, Arduino Mega logic for decisions, and LED outputs for signals. Testing confirmed 100% accuracy in detecting objects within 10 inches (25.4 cm) and activating red lights over 50 iterations. This low-cost ($30 USD/unit), open-source solution advances embedded systems for pedestrian safety, offering adaptable traffic management in resource-limited urban areas lacking conventional infrastructure.

Abstract

The life insurance sector is still striving to expand in Indonesia, while a number of macroeconomic and regulatory changes are also taking place. These developments compel the sector to adjust its strategies to remain profitable and continue expanding while complying with laws and regulations. In the midst of shifting industry conditions between early 2020 and late 2023, the author observes a notable shift in investment patterns among Indonesian life insurance companies and examines these circumstances as well as their causes. This journal employs qualitative methodologies by analyzing data consisting of investment asset portfolio information and investment returns for Indonesian life insurance companies. Observations and in-depth interviews were conducted with key investment personnel in several life insurance firms to identify the variables impacting investment strategy adjustments made by Indonesian life insurance companies during the aforementioned period. The study also evaluates the effect that these strategic shifts have on total investment income and the commensurability between the companies’ assets and liabilities. According to the analysis and observations, several factors—such as modifications to tax laws governing bond investments, adjustments to regulations applicable to life insurance companies, and a decline in unit-linked product sales—have driven these changes. In light of these conditions, there is a pressing need for more detailed regulations governing investment strategy mechanisms and pricing provisions related to investments.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were threefold: (1) to formulate Bajakah Tampala extract (Spatholobus littoralis) into a stable transdermal gel with variations in gelling agent and penetration enhancer concentrations; (2) to evaluate the physical characteristics of the resulting transdermal gel; and (3) to determine the anti-inflammatory efficacy of the gel in a white mouse model. The study hypothesizes that there is no significant difference in anti-inflammatory activity between the transdermal gel and the negative control, and that the gel formulation does not fully meet all standard evaluation parameters, such as thickness. A laboratory experimental design with pre-test and post-test approaches was employed using twenty-two male white rats (Rattus norvegicus), aged 2–3 months and weighing 200–250 grams. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test. Results indicated that the transdermal gel exhibited good and stable physical characteristics, with a homogeneous texture, skin-compatible pH (5.2–6.2), and the ability to withstand over 400 folds without damage. Formulas containing penetration enhancers (F2 and F3) demonstrated superior pH stability and weight uniformity compared to F1. In vivo testing revealed that F2 and F3 reduced edema to 0.30–0.31 mL, nearly matching the positive control (diclofenac sodium, 0.45 mL). These findings suggest that the incorporation of penetration enhancers significantly improves the gel’s ability to deliver Bajakah extract and suppress inflammatory responses.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the ability to compose sentences in early childhood through the application of the storytelling method using finger puppet media. The focus of the research is directed toward the development of children's expressive language skills, especially in composing simple sentences that are sequential, meaningful, and contextually appropriate to the story. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (PTK) approach carried out in an early childhood institution with group B children as research subjects. The population in this study consists of all group B children, with a research sample of 10 children determined using a saturated sampling technique. The data analysis technique was conducted descriptively, qualitatively, and quantitatively by comparing the improvement in children's abilities in each action cycle. The results of the study show a significant increase in children's sentence-composing skills after the application of the storytelling method using puppets. Children became more active, confident in speaking, able to compose sentences with more complete structures, and showed great enthusiasm during storytelling activities. Improvements were observed in each cycle, both in terms of vocabulary, fluency in speaking, and the ability to tell stories coherently. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the storytelling method using finger puppet media is effective in improving the ability to compose sentences in early childhood. Therefore, it is recommended that PAUD teachers use wayang jari media as an alternative for creative and innovative learning.

Abstract

Indonesian criminal procedure law normatively guarantees human rights protection through the principle of due process of law. However, in practice, investigations frequently prioritize formal legality over substantive justice, rely heavily on investigators’ verbalization, and apply excessive pre-trial detention. This tendency is illustrated in Supreme Court Decision Number 1584 K/Pid/2015, where evidentiary construction was primarily based on testimonium de auditu—statements derived from investigators—rather than direct empirical evidence. This study aims to: (1) analyze the legal construction of criminal investigations from a due process perspective; (2) evaluate the relationship between investigator authority, discretion, and professional ethics in shaping evidence; and (3) formulate recommendations for institutional reform grounded in human rights protection. The research employs a qualitative normative-empirical approach through document analysis, examining statutory regulations, particularly the Criminal Code and human rights instruments, relevant jurisprudence, and legal scholarship on due process, discretion, and police ethics. The findings indicate that although investigations may formally comply with statutory provisions, substantively they deviate from due process principles. Evidence formation often depends on investigator narratives and post-incident testimony while neglecting objective proof, undermining material justice. Broad discretionary powers, weak internal oversight, and inconsistent professional ethics contribute to a gap between normative expectations (das sollen) and empirical reality (das sein). Consequently, structural reforms are required to strengthen evidentiary oversight, restrict pre-trial detention practices, and enforce stricter ethical standards to ensure fair investigations and safeguard suspects’ rights.
