Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are injuries which affect the movement of musculoskeletal system of the human body and supermarket workers are prone to develop MSDs due to their tasks by handling material manually. The objectives of this study were to assess the risk factors of MSDs including propose appropriate control measures towards risk reduction. This study was conducted by using Cornell Musculoskeletal Questionnaire as a survey and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) as an observation method. Among 14 respondents consisted of 12 males and 2 females, the self-reported questionnaires revealed that the most-troubled body part experienced by the respondents in the last one week was shoulder (64.29%), followed by feet (57.14%) and lower back (57.14%). For the REBA score, workers from fresh market department and grocery department reported to had medium risk level of awkward posture. In general, most supermarket workers were had to stand and use their upper limbs while conducting the tasks. Intervention in terms of administrative controls such as to change the way of people work and job rotation could minimize the risk of developing MSDs among supermarket workers.

Abstract

There are currently no specific rules and regulation on what the limit for the bacterial concentration at nurseries and day care centres. Being exposed to bioaerosols have become a health concern to the public especially children. This is because they spend most of their childhood in nurseries, day care centres and schools. Statistical analysis is done by Cochrane Software Review Manager 5.4. Based on the statistical analysis, the result of the included studies shows that the concentration of bacteria at nurseries and day care centres are significant. In recent studies, the values for indoor concentration ranged from the 510 CFU/m-3 until 52560 CFU/m-3. The most common types of bacteria that were found in the studies are Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, Bacillus, and Pseudomonas. In general, the studies noted that the bacteria were mostly non-pathogenic and do not pose an immediate danger to the children’s health. However, children who are immunodeficient are at a risk of infection and catching a disease and possibly serious health effects.

Abstract

Association of concentration of airborne fungi (CFU/m3) among school-age children and their health level was very worrying. They were tempted to stay indoors such as, bedroom, playroom, and classroom. This study focused on how the concentration of airborne fungi (CFU/m3) affect the level of children’s health as we know that children tend to be exposed and easy to get pulmonary infection and dysfunction. Even though the children are the most vulnerable to illness, there is less concern about indoor air quality. Owing to the early development of their immune system, lungs, and other organs, children are extremely vulnerable to disease. In general, a nursery is a designated area where infants are cared for. A nursery, on the other hand is described as any facility designed for the purpose of providing care or maintenance for children under the age of six. The 0-1 year old group and the 2-4 year old group are the two primary groups of young children. While school where by there’s classroom which is classroom is a place where education is provided. When considering the time that children spend there and the activities that they participate in. Meanwhile the residence means a place where someone lives, or the condition of living somewhere. There are two of parameters associated to the concentration of airborne fungi (CFU/m3) and indirectly cause pulmonary problem to the children. They are temperature and humidity. There is also the differentiation of the concentration of airborne fungi (CFU/m3) indoor and outdoor. As conclusion, the concentration of airborne fungi (CFU/m3) are significant to the temperature and relative humidity and the concentration of airborne fungi (CFU/m3) indoor is significant due to poor ventilation and maintenance.

Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a range of neurodevelopmental disorders predominantly characterized by impaired social functioning and communication disturbances. Symptoms of autistic children may include repetitive movements, intense focus on one item, severe tantrum or self-abusive like behavior. In Malaysia, autism is still not clear and the public seems to lack good information or experience with people with ASD. Therefore, this study was investigated to describe the level of knowledge and attitude on ASD among public in Malaysia. A cross sectional study was conducted and Google link questionnaires containing demographic data, level of knowledge and attitude was distributed online via social media. Of 385 respondents, only 296 that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Collected data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2013 and IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. The findings suggested that public in Malaysia have a moderate level of knowledge (72%) and low level of positive attitude (57%) towards ASD. Even there are many Malaysian people have heard about autism but still many of them do not really understand the nature of children with autism. Some of them even cannot recognize the physical appearance of autistic children. We can conclude that lack of knowledge can lead to the negative attitudes towards autistic individuals and families. Further awareness strategy and giving the right information of the autism via social media and educational campaign can decrease the discrimination and stigmatization on ASD among public.

Abstract

The importance of SMEs to world economic and are pillars of the country's economic development. The number of SMEs was increased from year to year in the world. The number of SMEs in ASEAN alone currently reaches more than 70 million business units and cover 99% of all businesses in the region. Directly proportional to it, competition and sustainability vulnerabilities also getting higher. Sustainability issues had been the main focus for SMEs. Sustainability was based on three main baselines (economic, social, and cultural). Currently, a tool needed to assessment sustainability and develop a competitive strategy for these SMEs. However, the tools for sustainability assessment in SMEs was not available. This study aims to develop a sustainability assessment tool in the SMEs sector. Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) was a framework that supports the decision-making process by combining several baselines. One of the MCDM methods that can be used was the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP).

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that have a molecular structure that can donate electrons to free radical molecules and can break the chain reaction of free radicals. This research was conducted to analyze the flavonoid content in the ethanol extract of ketepeng cina leaves and to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract and the fraction of the ketepeng cina leaves. This research is an experimental descriptive study. Ketepeng cina leaves were extracted using 96% ethanol, then partitioned using the liquid-liquid partition method. Flavonoid levels were determined using UV-VIS spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 435 nm. Antioxidant activity test using the ABTS method at a wavelength of 740 nm. The results showed that the flavonoid content of the ethanol extract of the ketepeng cina leaves was 11,054 ± 0.228 QE. The results of the antioxidant activity test of the ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction with IC50 values were 23,709 ppm, 106,598 ppm, 14,534 ppm, and 49,844 ppm, respectively. The highest antioxidant activity was indicated by the ethyl acetate fraction with an IC50 value of 14,534 ppm with very strong activity

Abstract

Illustration of the economic recession in Indonesia that occurred due to the ongoing pandemic. This is supported by data showing that consumption in several quarters is still minus. This condition is also due to the low purchasing power of the people. As a result of this, it also affects all sectors, including the furniture industry sector, which has also experienced the impact of a decline in purchasing power at both national and international levels with various existing obstacles. One of the furniture industries in Indonesia is located in Sukoharjo Regency. This study aims to determine the contribution of the existing furniture industry and how to anticipate the threat of an economic recession. The data used in this study is secondary data from 2015 to 2020 sourced from the Department of Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises of Sukoharjo Regency. Data analysis used in this research is contribution analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the contribution of the furniture industry in Sukoharjo Regency from 2015 to 2020 fluctuated. In 2015 it was recorded that the contribution given was worth 6.06%, then followed in 2017 it had a contribution value of 7.81 and then decreased until 2020 it reached 5.3 percent. There are five strategic steps in dealing with and anticipating the threat of an economic recession that occurs. One of the steps is to prepare an emergency fund so that it can survive when turnover decreases.
