Abstract

Basic education is important for building students' knowledge and learning attitudes. Natural Sciences (IPA) is often considered difficult and less interesting by students, so low interest in learning becomes a challenge for educators. This study aims to examine the effect of Jigsaw type cooperative learning model on science learning interest of fourth grade elementary school students. The research used quasi-experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were fourth grade students of SDN Kalihurip II, consisting of 28 students in the experimental class and 28 students in the control class. The experimental class used the Jigsaw model, while the control class used the Picture and Picture model. The results showed that students who learned with the Jigsaw model had a higher interest in learning, with 87% of the interest caused by the Jigsaw model and 13% by other factors. Inferential statistical analysis showed significant differences between the two classes. The Jigsaw model proved effective in increasing students' interest in learning science. This study suggests the Jigsaw model as an alternative to increase students' interest in learning.

Abstract

Social cohesion, conflict management and diversity education are essential components that should be included in any educational curriculum that is designed to cater for multifaceted societies. The Social Studies curriculum that is included in the National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Nigeria is designed to meet these components. On the other hand, the effectiveness of the curriculum in terms of achieving these goals has been the subject of many discussions. For the purpose of determining whether or not the curriculum is efficient in fostering abilities related to social cohesion, conflict management, and diversity, a survey was carried out among students studying Social Studies in Colleges of Education in North-West Nigeria. A comprehensive analysis of the National Certificate in Education (NCE) Social Studies curriculum in Nigeria is presented here, focusing on both its strengths and areas that could use some work. As part of the evaluation process, the effectiveness of the curriculum in developing skills related to social cohesion, conflict management, and diversity is assessed. A number of suggestions are offered in order to improve the curriculum and better prepare future educators for the multifaceted society that exists in Nigeria. According to the findings of the study, there is a pressing need for a more direct emphasis on conflict management skills, negotiation skills, and an appreciation for diversity

Abstract

Order in schools and classrooms is essential for successful teaching and learning because it enables teachers and learners to devote time to learning activities. However, learners' indiscipline continues to surge despite various interventions. This study explored how secondary schools' learner code of conduct is implemented to alleviate disciplinary issues. The study was grounded on the assertive discipline theory and employed an interpretive paradigm using a qualitative approach through a case study research design. Data was obtained using semi-structured interviews administered to six school management team members and focus group interviews with seven teachers from four purposefully selected quintile-three secondary schools. The findings revealed that schools use the learner school code of conduct to address and reduce instances of indiscipline. This is done by orally presenting it to learners The study concludes that teachers believe secondary learners already know how to behave, and their duty is to remind them of what is expected. The study recommends that teachers avoid assumptions that secondary school learners already know how to behave. A shift in implementing the learner school code of conduct to a more proactive approach that upholds principles of positive discipline is also recommended

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether there is a difference in the ability to recognize letters of mentally retarded students before and after using sandpaper letters media in class III SKh Negeri 01 Serang City. This research is non-parametric research with the type of research used in this research being pre-experiment using a one group pretest-posttest research design with a sample of five students. The data collection instrument is a test consisting of 10 questions that have been previously validated. The use of sandpaper letters as a medium to introduce letters to mentally retarded students resulted in an average of 81. Then analyzed using statistical testing using the Wilcoxon test, the asymp.sig (2-tailed) value was 0.043 and was smaller than the α value, namely 0.05. However, the difference between the asymp.sig (2-tailed) value and the α value is only 0.007, so the influence produced by sandpaper letters media is not large enough on the ability to recognize letters of children with mild mental retardation

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education has gained significant attention, particularly in enhancing collaborative learning. This study explores the effectiveness of ChatGPT in improving group interactions, critical thinking, and engagement using the ADDIE framework. The research provides a structured approach to AI adoption, ensuring it complements traditional teaching methods rather than replacing them. A systematic review of AI-supported educational frameworks was conducted, analyzing studies from academic databases. Inclusion criteria focused on research involving AI-assisted collaborative learning, while exclusion criteria omitted studies unrelated to higher education or lacking empirical evaluation. Results indicate that while models like Bloom’s Taxonomy, TPACK, and SAMR contribute to AI-enhanced learning, they lack structured implementation for collaborative activities. The ADDIE model offers a systematic framework for designing, developing, and evaluating AI-supported learning strategies, ensuring continuous refinement. Findings reveal that ChatGPT significantly enhances teamwork, problem-solving, and engagement in structured group activities. However, challenges such as ethical considerations, accessibility, and AI biases must be addressed. This study contributes by proposing a replicable AI-integration model, offering guidelines for policymakers and educators, and emphasizing responsible AI use. Future research should refine AI applications for inclusivity and ethical implementation in diverse educational settings.
