Abstract

Library information system is a computerized process to process data in a library. Everything is processed using certain software such as database processing software. Library staff can always monitor the availability of books, new book lists, book loans, and book returns. So compared to conventional libraries, library information systems make it easier for library staff and library users to manage and borrow books. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method based on bibliometric investigations. The scope of data used is scientific publication articles about library information systems based on searches using the Google Scholar database. The publication articles come from national journals with the limitation that the publication articles used in this research are published in open access or can be accessed in terms of author, publisher, year of publication, author keywords. Shows the co-occurrence map with library information system keywords taken from 2019-2024 formed into 46 clusters, indicating the diversity of sub-topics or aspects in library information system research. Here it can be seen that "library" and "information system" have the largest shape which indicates the most used keywords. Through co-occurrence analysis there was a significant increase in the number of publications on library information systems, especially in 2022 and 2023, indicating that this topic is increasingly relevant and of interest to researchers. The keyword connection map on VOSviewer shows that "library" and "information system" are the most frequently occurring keywords, illustrating the close relationship between these concepts in research.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the MA Al-Amanah Islamic School Library service using the Goal Oriented Evaluation Model (GOEM) approach developed by Ralph W. Tyler. This model was chosen because it emphasizes the achievement of goals as the main indicator of the success of a program. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method through observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers, librarians, and vice principals, and the distribution of open questionnaires to 30 students as respondents. The evaluation results show that the library has contributed significantly to the achievement of learning goals, especially in terms of improving student literacy, character building, and strengthening learning independence. Through the seven stages of the GOEM evaluation, an increase in learning motivation, discipline, and active involvement of students in utilizing library facilities was identified. Although there are still limitations in the support of psychomotor facilities and formal evaluation instruments, the library has functioned as an effective and adaptive learning space for students' information needs. This evaluation also shows the importance of developing digital services and improving librarian competence in assisting the learning process. Thus, the application of a goal-based evaluation model such as GOEM is not only relevant for assessing the effectiveness of services, but is also useful as a reflective tool in strategic planning for the development of school libraries in the future.

Abstract

In the midst of the rapid development of information technology, libraries are required to transform in providing information services. However, conventional services based on printed collections still have an important role, especially in supporting specific and in-depth reference needs. This study aims to examine the existence and relevance of conventional reference services that are still organized at the Library of Universitas Perintis Indonesia. The method used was qualitative research with a field study approach through direct observation and interviews with reference librarians. The results showed that printed collections such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, and directories are still actively used, especially by final year students and lecturers who need valid references in scientific writing. The main challenges faced are the limited budget for collection renewal and the lack of user understanding of the benefits of printed collections. However, these services have the opportunity to continue to be relevant if integrated with digital approaches and the promotion of information literacy. This research confirms that conventional services do not lose relevance, but need to be adapted to the dynamics of user needs in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Lapak Baca activities organized by the Gerakan Perpustakaan Anak Nusantara (GPAN) Regional Tulungagung community in increasing the reading interest of visitors to Alun-Alun Tulungagung. Reading interest in Indonesia is relatively low, and initiatives such as Lapak Baca are an alternative to bring literacy closer to the community in a more inclusive way. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to explore the meaning of the experiences of volunteers and visitors to the activity. Data collection techniques include participant observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Informants consist of GPAN members and Lapak Baca visitors. The results of the study show that Lapak Baca activities create an inclusive space that encourages active community involvement in literacy activities. Children feel free to choose reading material, while volunteers feel they have an important role in educating the community. In addition, internal and external factors were found that influence reading interest, such as personal motivation, environmental support, and the availability of interesting reading materials. The obstacles faced include limited book collections and physical facilities of Lapak Baca. This study provides theoretical benefits in enriching community-based literacy studies as well as practical benefits as material for evaluating and developing the Lapak Baca program by GPAN and related parties. It is hoped that these results can be a reference for similar literacy initiatives in other areas.

Abstract

The National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (PNRI) is the largest library in Indonesia with a collection of more than 3.2 million items in 2024. Then, PNRI is an institution ranked 4th out of 584 state entities/institutions for public service compliance. This achievement is interesting to study and research how the management is carried out by PNRI. The location of this research was carried out at the Bung Karno Library UPT Blitar. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the research, management in the procurement of collections is carried out with purchases that are initially made by making desiderata, then delivering the card to the publisher. Purchases are made periodically every month, with trucks as a logistics medium. Processing is done by checking the suitability of the desiderata with the number of books received. Then provide 3 types of stamps, namely the date of receipt, no. parent on the ownership page on the three sections of the book. Next, fill in the no. DDC (Dewey Decimal Club) classification and put it on the shelf and input it into the shelf catalog data and computer. Finally, the service is carried out by inputting library and shelving data. The user fills out the book borrowing form and when finished reading, it is placed on the shelving shelf and inputted into the circulation data. In addition, the librarian reprimands via WhatsApp if the user is late in returning and is fined. Services outside the book include memorabilia services and in-out door guides. This study can be used as a reference for further research on library management in procurement, processing, and service.

Abstract

As the utilization of digital systems continues to grow, libraries must strengthen their information management systems to protect against threats such as cyberattacks and data breaches. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that several ISO/IEC 27001 based controls have been implemented, including firewalls, encryption, and regular audits. However, security gaps remain, such as weak credentials, the absence of multi-factor authentication, and limited real-time monitoring and data backup. Major risks include malware, network attacks, and system failures. Although the National University (UNAS) Cyber Library has developed a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), improvements in formal documentation and user digital literacy are still needed. These findings serve as a strategic evaluation basis for enhancing the effectiveness of information security governance in academic library environments.

Abstract

A Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) should be tailored to an institution's specific needs and characteristics in order to maintain information service continuity amid potential vulnerabilities in the information system. A qualitative approach was used to collect data through observations, semi-structured interviews with the library director and IT staff, and internal documentation studies. The Daniel S. Lev Law Library uses various systems for daily operations and is highly dependent on five main information systems: Digilev, the Institutional Repository, Catalog Danlev, the Court Decisions System, and the Internal Archiving System. The analysis of critical information systems and potential risks was based on the NIST SP 800-34 Rev. 1 framework and the FIPS 199 guidelines. The results showed that Digilev and the Institutional Repository had the highest impact levels because they are directly related to academic research and accreditation requirements. Additionally, we conducted Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) identification to establish priorities for effective information system recovery strategies based on disruption scenarios such as server downtime, cyber threats, and natural disasters. These strategies include providing backups and backup servers, enhancing system security, training staff, and creating emergency plans for physical disasters. These results are all documented in a structured disaster recovery plan that serves as a technical guide and institutional regulation for anticipating and addressing issues that could disrupt the information system. It is hoped that this plan will enhance security and ensure the continuity of digital library services at the Daniel S. Lev Law Library.
