Abstract

Preservation is a way of protecting library materials in the library. This study aims to determine the preservation and rescue of collections (a case study at the Ali Hasjmy library in Banda Aceh). The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques used by observation, interviews, and documentation. Researchers conducted interviews with 1 library manager. The resulting data is then analyzed into narratives and paragraphs. The results showed that the Ali Hasjmy library carried out preservation by cleaning the library and there were several manuscripts that had been restored. However, special subscriptions are still needed so that the collections contained in the Ali Hasjmy library maintain their informational value. Some of the collections contained in Ali Hasjmy's library include: collections of manuscripts, ceramics, weapons, Acehnese saga, Acehnese clothing. Hopefully this research can provide benefits for Ali Hasjmy's library and the government will also look at the library. In addition, cooperation with the Aceh Museum and the Aceh Cultural Value Preservation Center (BPNB) is also provided so that many people can enjoy and use Aceh's cultural values and treasures.

Abstract

User satisfaction is a benchmark in efforts to improve library services. The aims of this study were: (1) to find out what services are available at the Library of SMP Negeri 3 Rantau Bayur, Banyuasin Regency; (2) to find out the effect of library services on user satisfaction at the Library of SMP Negeri 3 Rantau Bayur, Banyuasin Regency. The research method used is decriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in this study were library users at the SMP Negeri 3 Rantau Bayur, Banyuasin Regency, namely students, and teachers or education staff. The results in this study obtained data, namely: (1) the services available at the library include: library service hours, circulation services, reference services, reading room service, user education program, compulsory reading programs in the library, information literacy programs, library promotions, holding doorpize for users who frequently do visit, student showcase; (2) the services provided have an influence on user satisfaction. The conclusion in this study is that the Library of SMP Negeri 3 Rantau Bayur, Banyuasin Regency must optimize the services provided so that users are more satisfied, so that the interest of visiting users to the library also increases.

Abstract

This scientific journal entitled "Analysis of Collection Development Activities in the Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta High School Library" discusses how collection development is carried out by the librarians of the Yogyakarta 1 Muhammadiyah High School Library. In collecting and analyzing data, the author used descriptive research with a qualitative approach method. The Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah 1 High School library has a permanent source of funds to develop its collection which comes from school funds and BOS (Bantuan Operasional Sekolah) funds. The students at this school also have affluent or wealthy economic backgrounds. However, this becomes an obstacle to the pattern of implementing the collection development of the Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta High School Library. The purpose of this research is to find out how collection development activities are carried out in the Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta High School Library. The media used by the author in collecting data were direct observation at the research location, interviewing the head of the library, and documentation. Using qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques, namely data reduction. The results of the research show that the stages of collection development in the Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta High School Library include collecting book catalogs from publishers, selecting and analyzing library materials, up to the stage of ordering and processing library materials. In determining library collection development policies, the library looks at the suitability of user needs. There are also inhibiting factors, including the density of formal learning hours and the socio-economic conditions of the students. Analyzing collection development activities in libraries can be a reference tool as well as an effort to provide solutions to the implementation of collection development for the sake of sustainable library development.

Abstract

A library is an organizational unit aimed at collecting, storing, managing, and organizing a structured collection of library materials to be utilized by users as a source of information and as an enjoyable learning facility. Users who frequently use artificial intelligence will become dependent on it, but artificial intelligence can also assist them in easily finding the information they seek. This research employs a literature review method by searching for materials in terms of literature through journals, books, and magazines by exploring the internet and utilizing the existing artificial intelligence in the library of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. This study is conducted to ascertain the impact of artificial intelligence on both the library and users wherever they seek information. Thus, the aim of this research is to investigate the extent of the impact of artificial intelligence on library users at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The use of artificial intelligence greatly aids library users in seeking information, and time efficiency in finding what they desire is a primary factor in using artificial intelligence in the library. The relevance of information provided by artificial intelligence becomes a distinct preference for library users in searching for information, and the advancement of technology in current developments is an attraction for libraries in facilitating librarians in seeking information in the library.

Abstract

Collection development activities are important things to do, especially at the stages of development activities that must be considered and carried out as well as possible. In order to create good service and information needs to users (society). The purpose of this study was to determine the stages of collection development carried out by the Banyuasin Regency Library and Archives Service. In this study, the descriptive qualitative method used data collection techniques through interviews and literature studies, interviews via chat and whatsapp telephone to two librarians at the Banyuasin Regency Library and Archives Service. The results of this study are that the stages of collection development at the Banyuasin Regency Library and Archives Service consist of initial analysis, collection policies, selection of library materials, procurement, weeding and evaluation.

Abstract

Archives are human activities that are well documented and stored because they have value. For this reason, archives are a reference source in research such as historical research. Archives are significant in research, so it is necessary to an Archivist that have sound capabilities, skills, and attitudes to support archival services. The research question is, what is the role of Reference Archivist in guiding research? This research aims to provide an overview of the importance of Reference Archivist in providing services mainly related to research and also contributing to archival research, especially archival reference services. The research method used in this research is a literature review using a qualitative method approach and data analysis through reading comprehensive literature studies, then analyzing, summarizing, and recounting them in text form in an in-depth and structured manner. The results show that the role of archives as the primary source in research references makes the position of archives essential so that researchers will use archives to the maximum extent possible. Apart from that, it is essential for archival organizers, namely archival institutions, to Reference Archivist in carrying out their activities. Participate in providing convenience or accessibility of archive services.

Abstract

Procurement of library materials is an activity that must be carried out in a library in order to meet the needs of library users. This analysis was carried out at the Medan Area University library. This analysis aims to analyze the implementation of procurement of library material collections in the Medan Area University library. The activity of procuring library material collections aims to ensure that the collections are in accordance with the needs of Medan Area University library users. This research process uses a qualitative approach which refers to non-mathematical data analysis which provides data from direct observation techniques at the Medan Area University library and interviews conducted by Medan Area University library librarians. The results of research at the Medan Area University library show that the factors in procuring library materials are user needs and also the available budget, these two things are the main factors in procuring library materials. Apart from the procurement factor of library materials, the purchase of library material collections is carried out by the Medan Area University library through vendors or third parties, where the third party will purchase the book collections needed by the Medan Area University library. Procurement of library materials at the Medan Area University Library is carried out directly by the librarian at the library.

Abstract

The article aims to describe the information from a historical perspective. Knowledge of the history of information becomes important, considering that society is dynamic, transforms and shifts from an agricultural based-society to an industrial based, and recent becomes the information society today. Documentation technique used to collect data related to information preservation and information dissemination historically. This article uses historical analysis to explain the development of information, especially in its preservation and dissemination. This article found that the preservation of information has taken a long time, i.e. ever since humans as "being of thought" began to recognize how to write and read. The information is preserved in script form in the earliest form and then developed into print form. The information is disseminated through various media and types, ranging from manual to digital. Based on these findings, multiple forms of preservation and dissemination of information are constantly developing to create a society that puts information as wisdom in life.

Abstract

Information is considered a basic need that supports decision-making. One of the information needs for students themselves is information related to internships. This study aims to analyze the information-seeking behavior of the Department of Library Science students, at Nusantara Islamic University in determining the place of internship using the Ellis Model. The method used is to use a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews and literature studies. The results showed that each student can be said indirectly through the stages of the model. So that factors and influences are known in the decision-making process to determine the internship place that will be chosen by students.

Abstract

This research uses scientific strategies to collect the data needed for research to investigate library digital literacy in the context of the millennial period. is a set of methods created by researchers that covers everything from data collection to analysis. The Mils Huberman model data analysis technique which is included in the qualitative research category is used by the author in this research as a type of library research. By using this method, researchers can obtain data by asking the author to look for relevant information in the manuscript. Research findings To keep up with the rapid advances in digital technology in the current Millennial Era, librarians' digital literacy skills must be strengthened. Modern era advances have connected all current activities with the internet for access to information. A new generation known as "Digital Natives" has been formed in this Millennial Era. a generation that does everything by having instant access to digital information that they can obtain from any location at any time. To face the Digital Native era, librarians need to hone Digital Literacy skills which include learning to obtain information from various sources and getting used to using it.
