Abstract

Fish is an important source of high-quality protein essential for human consumption. Fish is a highly perishable foodstuff with a very short shelf life. Drying is a complex thermal process in which unsteady heat and moisture transfer occur simultaneously. The drying process effects on protein quality and composition of fish. Gourami (Osphronemus gouramy) has high nutrient content. However it has a short shelf life. It’s necessary to remove its moisture content via drying. In our current study, the effect of different drying methods such as sun drying, microwave drying and oven drying to the quality of dried gourami (Osphronemus gouramy) was investigated. Results clearly revealed that microwave drying was the best selection to get a perfect dried fish quality for a long term storage.Keywords: Osphronemus gouramy, Sun drying, Microwave drying, Oven drying, Water activity, Histamin, Aerobic plate count, Shelf life.

Abstract

The reaction of (L- AsCl2) : Bis [O,O – 2,3, O,O – 5,6 – (chloro(carboxylic)methylidene] – L-ascorbic acid with sodium azide in ethanol with drops of distilled water has been given a new product (L-AZD), was isolated and characterized by elemental analysis (C,H,N) , 1H-NMR, mass spectra and Fourier transform (Ft-IR). The reaction of the (L-AZD) with: [VO(II), Cr(III), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II)], has been investigated and was isolated as tri nuclear cluster and characterized by: Ft-IR, U. v-Visible, electrical conductivity, magnetic susceptibilities at 25 Co, atomic absorption and molar ratio. Spectroscopic evidence showed that the binding of metal ions were through azide and carbonyl moieties resulting in a six- coordinating metal ions in [Cr (III), Mn (II), Co (II) and Ni (II)]. The Vo (II), Cu (II), Zn (II), Cd (II) and Hg (II) were coordinated through azide group only forming square pyramidal for VO (II), square planar geometry for Cu (II) and tetrahedral for Zn (II), Cd (II) and Hg (II), - for Ni (II), Cr (III) complexes were calculated, the ratio of (L-AZD) to metal ions was (3:1) confirmed by metal ratio and atomic absorption spectrophotometer, magnetic moment values at (298 K) of VO (II), Cr (III), Mn (II), Co (II), Ni (II) and Cu (II) are lower than the total spin-only indicate a dominate of anti-ferromagnetic coupling between them. Abstract

Background: Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) of the Transcription Factor 7-Like 2 (TCF7L2) diabetes susceptibility gene were located in the noncoding region. Intronic SNP may play a role in mRNA splicing. This study aimed to elucidate whether SNPs of the TCF7L2 gene expressed different mRNA isoforms in the peripheral blood. Methods: Across sectional study was conducted in Legian Bali. A total of 56 subjects were grouped into carrier of TCF7L2SNPs (28 Balinese age 30-74 years,eitherheterozygote or mutant of the rs12255372 SNP [GT or TT], rs7903146 [CT or TT], and rs10885406 [AG or GG])and wild-type of TCF7L2 (28 matched in age and sex Balinese,rs12255372 [GG], rs7903146 [CC], and rs10885406 [AA])which has been identified in the previous study.In this study, the mRNA isolation was done using LS Trizol reagent (Nitrogen®) and variants of the mRNA isoform in the TCF7L2 gene was identified by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method, using two pairs of overlapping primer.The first primer PCR products were grouped into Group-A, Group-B, Group-C and Group-D. The second primer PCR products were grouped into Group-a, Group-b, Group-c and Group-d. Oral glucose tolerant test (OGTT) was done to both groups.Blood samples were taken during fasting, at 1 hour and 2 hours after the oralglucose load, for blood glucose, and insulin level measurement. Results: There were seven pairs of the group combination including group A-a, A-c, A-d, C-a, C-c, C-dand D-c, and group C-c was the most commonly found among all subjects in this study (42.3%). Subjects with diabetes risk allele were 2.66 times more likely to express group C-ccompared to subjects without diabetes risk allele of SNPs in the TCF7L2 gene (95%CI 1.24–5.72 p=0.011). Mean response of insulin increment after oral glucose load among group C-c was higher compared with the non-group C-c, 84.63±41.01 vs. 62.02±38.09ng/ml (mean difference 22.61 95%CI 0.41–44.80 p=0.046). However, blood glucose level, fasting insulin, HOMA %B and HOMA IR were similar between the two groups. Conclusion: Variants of TCF7L2 gene expressed different mRNA isoformsin the peripheral blood.Compared to subjects without diabetes risk allele of SNPs in the TCF7L2 gene, subject with diabetes risk allele expressed dominant variant isoform mRNA 2.66 timeshigher.The higherresponse of insulin increment after oral glucosewas observedin the dominant variant which may reflectthe early condition of insulin resistant.Keywords: Diabetes, SNP TCF7L2, isoforms mRNA.

Abstract

Medical waste is considered to be a hazardous waste of a special nature due to its high toxicity and its toxic and radioactive chemicals and its ability to develop diseases. The extent of the presence of germs and viruses in the medical waste and the amount of dose and exposure method and the extent of resistance of the body to these microbes. Medical waste includes the waste of isolation rooms for patients with infectious diseases, residues of bacteria, infectious and biological agents, waste of sterilization, disinfection, blood, serums and plasma, and pharmaceutical residues. This guide provides an overview of hospital waste generating processes and presents options for minimizing waste generation through source reduction and recycling. Reducing the generation of these materials at the source, or recycling the wastes on or off site, will benefit hospitals by reducing disposal costs and lowering the liabilities associated with hazardous waste disposal. The hazardous wastes generated by general medical and surgical hospitals are small in volume relative to those of industrial facilities; however, the wastes are of a wide variety. Some of the hazardous materials used by hospitals that become part of their waste streams include chemotherapy and antineoplastic chemicals; solvents; formaldehyde; photographic chemicals; radionuclide’s; mercury; waste aesthetic gases; and other toxic, corrosive and miscellaneous chemicals. Additional wastes such as infectious waste, incinerator exhaust, laundry-related waste, utility wastes, and trash are not addressed in this guide. The results showed that most hospitals in Basra lack systematic application of the concept of solid waste management and lack of awareness among medical waste workers. All waste incinerators in hospitals are old, operate under temperatures of less than 400 ° C and are therefore a source of toxic gas emissions Dioxin Intermediates. Ashes of incinerators, which contain a percentage of toxic heavy metals and pathogens, are put into domestic waste in landfills and thus make its impact the environment is highly negative in terms of pollution and disease transfer. Misuse of residues with chemical drugs they are used to treat cancer patients and treat them as other medical waste, as exposure to such waste are very dangerous to workers because of their ability to kill human cells or cause malformation.Keywords:Medical waste, Hospital waste, Environmental pollution, Hazardous materials.

Abstract

A thin film of Nickel-phthalocyanine has been deposited with a thickness of 250 nm on glass, prepared by thermal evaporation using the Edward E306A coating at room temperature Rt. The high vacuum pressure during evaporation was about 10-5 m bar. The distance between the boat and the substrate was fixed at 20 cm. at the evaporation method, where the study of spectral behavior and optical properties of thin films of Nickel phthalocyanine (NiPc) by irradiation with ultraviolet (UV) at different times 0,10,20,40 and 80 min respectively, where we noticed that an increase of irradiation time leads to an increase absorbance and decrease the energy band gap. The absorption spectra recorded in the range of 190-1100 nm wavelengths showed the existence of two absorption bands, Soret or B-band and Q-band. The UV-Vis spectra showed that thin films deposited on same substrate types have directly energy-gap. The energy gap values of the prepared thin films were calculated from Tauc equation.Keywords: Thin film, Metal, Nickel phthalocyanine, Energy gap, Thermal evaporation.

Abstract

Objective: .Bauhinia racemosa, Bauhinia tomentosa and Bauhinia vahlii are the most important indigenous plants of Odisha. Traditionally, these plants are used in wound healing, skin abrasions, pimples, blister and boils. To validate the folkloric claims of these plants, methanolic extracts of these plants were evaluated by incision and excision wound models. Methods: The experimental animals were divided into five groups of six for each model. The animals in test group were treated with the test extracts of these three plants topically in the form of ointment and reference standard, Povidone Iodine was applied on the incised wound of animals of standard group. Healing measured by the rate of wound contraction, complete epithelialization, and granulation of tissue. On day 14, BV, BR and BT were recorded as 250, 210 and 125 g/cm2 respectively as compared to the control, whereas, Povidone iodine showed the tensile strength of 230g/cm2. Results: Preliminary phytochemical screening of the extract revealed the presence of phenolics, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The rapid wound contraction and decreased rate of epithelialization time suggest that these plant extracts extract may have better wound healing potentials.

Abstract

Objectives : Giving therapy to pediatric patients with Kawasaki syndrome is crucial in terms of healing and prevention of potential complications. This study aim to analyzed the treatment of pediatric patients with Kawasaki Syndrome at the Tertiary Referral Hospital in East Java, Indonesia. Methodology : This retrospective study involved 16 patients aged ≤ 18 years with a diagnosis of Kawasaki Syndrome in the 2013-2016 time series. Sampling uses a non random sampling technique. Medical record data related to the history of the disease, treatment, and the resulting outcome were analyzed descriptively. Results: Child patients receive treatment therapy in different amounts, types and doses based on the status of the patient and clinical manifestations that appear. The main therapy was given to patients namely acetosal  (94%) and IVIG  (50%), and corticosteroids ; methylprednisolone, prednisone (44%). Oral acetosal use is 80-100 mg / kg body weight as anti-inflammatory until the fever falls and 3-5 mg / kg body weight as platelet anti-aggregation as long as the patient does not show coronary artery abnormalities within 6 to 8 weeks, the IVIG dose is 2 g / kg weigth, and the dose of methylprednisolone is 10-30 mg / kg for 3 to 10 days. Conclusion: Giving treatment adapts to the patient's needs and is in accordance with the recommended standards.Keywords: Treatment strategy, Pediatric, Kawasaki syndrome, Referral hospital.

Abstract

Prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) and tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) are two important seafood farming species cultivated in Mekong river delta, Vietnam. Intensive aquaculture of these species has high risk of disease outbreaks caused by virus, bacteria, fungi, and other pathogens. Erythromycin is the most widely used antibiotic in the macrolide. Erythromycin has a low cytotoxicity for aquaculture. Prawn and tilapia intended for export have to meet the antibiotic residue standards of the importing countries. In the present research, different factors affecting erythromycin residue on prawn and tilapia muscles after thermal treatments were carefully investigated. The present results proved that among frozen, cooked, oil-fried and baked methods; the oil-frying treatment strongly degraded erythromycin at 86.88% in prawn and 87.02% in tilapia samples. Thermal processing by oil heating medium at high temperature caused a significant degradation in the concentration of erythromycin residue.Keywords: Prawn, Tilapia, Erythromycin, Thermal, Degradation, Antibiotic residue.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of polymorphism of interleukin-1-R gene (IL1R) at position-1970 SNP) in T1D and in healthy controls subjects39 of Iraqi patients, (12 males & 27 females;1 5.65 ± 1.79 years) and 21 controls.(7 mail & 14femal ; 14.66 ± 3.43 years) were enrolled in this study the polymorphism of IL-1R-1970was data waved by polymerase chain reaction-specific sequence primer (PCR-SSP) assay. Results revealed that comparing IL1R-1970genotypes and alleles between T1D patients and controls frequencies of TC genotype and C allele (79.49vs. 68.05%;P =0.419respectively) were significantly rise in patients contrast to controls, (38.28vs. 40.62%; P =0.094) and the related RR rates were 21.3%and39.8%, respectively. And the associated EF values were 1.71and2.11.Similar observations were made in CC genotype. In contrast TT genotype and T allele (22.33vs. 38.95%, P =0.706respectively) frequencies were significantly decreased in patients, compared to controls (42.38vs. 49.38%; P =0.094), and associated PF values were 0.63and0.47, respectively. These findings suggest that IL1R-1970 SNP might have a role in the etiopathogenic mechanism showed associations (positive and negative) with T1Din the samples of Iraqi patients.Keywords: SNP IL-1R Diabetes.

Abstract

The current study aims to identify the effect of Witley's constructivist model in learning the rapid collective-handball attack of students. The researchers used the experimental approach, while the research society included the fourth phase students (76) students. The research sample reached (60) students. Through the findings, the researchers reached several conclusions, the most important of which are:There is a positive development of the two groups in the study of learning rapid attack individual and collective handball.The experimental group that used the Witley's model is superior to the control group in the post tests.The educational units prepared by the researchers had a positive role in learning the rapid attack collective handball students of the experimental group and superior to the control group.Keywords: Witley's constructivist, Model, Rapid attack and handball.
