Abstract

Motorcycle exhaust emissions depend on combustion quality, fuel properties, engine speed, and exhaust-system characteristics. This study compared carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), and carbon dioxide (CO₂) from a 150 cc fuel-injected motorcycle using Pertamax RON 92 with a standard exhaust and a straight-through racing exhaust. An experimental design was applied at 1500, 2000, and 2500 rpm. Emissions were measured with an NHA-506 gas analyzer after the engine reached operating temperature, and each condition was repeated three times. The standard exhaust produced a relatively stable emission pattern across the tested speeds. The racing exhaust produced higher CO and HC at 1500 rpm, but its best performance occurred at 2000 rpm, where CO decreased to 1.76%, HC to 80 ppm, and CO₂ increased to 12.4%. Relative to the standard exhaust at the same speed, CO and HC were lower by 64.6% and 53.8%, respectively. The combustion and reaction-kinetics interpretation indicates that 2000 rpm provided the most favorable balance between temperature, oxidation rate, residence time, and exhaust flow. The results imply that exhaust modification should be evaluated at specific operating speeds rather than assumed to improve emissions uniformly.

Abstract

Rising demand for inpatient space often pushes hospital operators to add a storey on top of a building that is already standing, even though its columns were sized for a smaller load. This study assesses whether a steel–concrete composite system is a viable choice for the third floor added to the existing reinforced concrete building of Kirana Hospital in Manado. A three-dimensional model was built in ETABS v22.7.0 following SNI 1727:2020, SNI 1726:2019 and SNI 1729:2020. Seismic input uses Manado site parameters of Sₛ = 1.0505 g, S₁ = 0.4689 g, site class SD and risk category IV, giving Sₔₛ = 0.7562 g and Seismic Design Category D. The added floor uses BJ 41 steel, and a second model with a reinforced concrete third floor was analysed for comparison. The highest capacity ratio reached 0.596 in column C9 and 0.707 in beam B36, and every bolted and welded connection passed, the beam–column joint being the most critical at 0.90. Replacing the concrete floor lowered the total dead load by 2,793.55 kN or 15.33%, but the reduction ranges from only 7.54% at joint 12 to 21.98% at joint 20, and the most heavily loaded joints gain the least.

Abstract

Parking capacity management requires information that can be obtained quickly and accurately because the number of vehicles in a campus parking area changes dynamically. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based motorcycle parking capacity monitoring system at the parking area of Universitas Pamulang Serang Campus. The research used an experimental approach and a design-and-build method consisting of problem identification, literature study, system analysis, hardware and software design, implementation, functional testing, and result analysis. The system integrates an ESP32 microcontroller, RFID RC522, two HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors, an MG996R servo motor, an I2C LCD, buzzer, Blynk IoT dashboard, and an Android smartphone with IP Webcam. RFID authenticates vehicle access, the ultrasonic sensors detect entry and exit sequences, the servo controls the barrier gate, while the LCD and Blynk display the number of vehicles and remaining parking capacity in real time. Functional testing showed that the RFID, ultrasonic sensors, servo motor, LCD, buzzer, Blynk dashboard, data persistence, vehicle entry and exit processes, and visual monitoring operated according to the design. The system also rejects vehicle entry when the maximum capacity of five motorcycles is reached. The implementation demonstrates that an integrated IoT system can support structured parking capacity monitoring and access management in a campus environment.

Abstract

An unbalanced diet is a major risk factor for various chronic diseases, such as obesity and hypertension. Although public awareness of nutrition has begun to increase, the phenomenon of "choice overload" in existing diet-tracking applications often makes it difficult for users to select menus that are truly healthy. This research aims to design and develop a mobile-based application named "Fit Meal," which is capable of providing personalized and filtered food menu recommendations. The application was developed using the Flutter framework to support cross-platform flexibility and integrates the Constraint-Based Filtering algorithm to filter food based on health criteria (such as the elimination of fried and junk food). Additionally, the Hybrid Data Retrieval technique is applied to optimize nutritional data searching by combining the speed of the local SQLite database with the data completeness of an external API. The test results indicate that the Hybrid method successfully improves data search efficiency, while the Constraint-Based algorithm provides accurate daily menu variations according to the user's calorie target, achieving a 100% success rate in filtering unhealthy food ingredients. Fit Meal is expected to be an effective digital solution for smartphone users in implementing a healthy diet independently and consistently.

Abstract

This study applies the earned value method to the early implementation stage of the integrated design and build package for the construction of the Bolaang Mongondow Selatan Regional General Hospital building, valued at IDR 128.64 billion with a contract duration of 287 calendar days. The data consist of the bill of quantities, the master schedule, and the weekly progress reports of weeks one through five. Because the contractor did not release its cost records, the actual cost of work performed was approximated from labour, equipment, and material quantities recorded in the daily reports, multiplied by the unit prices stated in the project cost documents. At the end of week five the cumulative physical progress reached 2.0297 percent against a planned 1.4273 percent, producing a positive schedule variance of IDR 774,938,314 and a schedule performance index of 1.422. The estimated direct cost incurred amounted to IDR 364,565,960. The resulting cost performance index of 7.162 cannot be read as cost efficiency because the estimated cost covers fewer components than the earned value does. The study also finds that zero planned weight across two holiday weeks inflates the schedule performance index.

Abstract

Residential construction involves the process of building or renovating houses and settlement areas to create a habitable living environment, including the provision of infrastructure, facilities, and public utilities. To prevent structural failures, it is essential to determine the soil bearing capacity in order to design a robust and earthquake-resistant structure. Therefore, a soil investigation using the Cone Penetration Test (CPT) method is required beforehand. The CPT is a field testing technique specifically designed to evaluate and assess the strength characteristics of subsurface soil layers. This investigation was conducted in Kuripan Village, Kuripan District, West Lombok Regency, with the objectives of determining the resulting bearing capacity and identifying the most suitable foundation type for the research site. Secondary data were obtained from various literature reviews, while primary data were collected from CPT results at three predetermined test locations. The analysis revealed that cone resistance (qc) values reached ≥ 250 kg/cm². Specifically, at the first test point (SO-1), this resistance was observed at depths of 1.60 to 2.80 meters (clay mixed with dense rock); at the second test point (SO-2), at depths of 0.80 to 1.20 meters (clay mixed with dense rock); and at the third test point (SO-3), at depths of 2.80 to 3.60 meters (sandy clay mixed with dense rock). Based on these findings, the appropriate foundation types for the soil conditions in Batu Layar, Batu Layar District, West Lombok Regency, are shallow foundations and deep pile foundations.

Abstract

Building structure planning is an important aspect in building construction, especially in multi-storey buildings such as 2-story houses. Good structural planning is needed so that buildings are able to withstand various types of working loads, such as dead loads, live loads and earthquake loads. The West Lombok Regency area on Lombok Island is an area that has the potential for earthquake activity, so building structure planning must pay attention to aspects of earthquake resistance. Therefore, proper structural analysis is needed to ensure the safety and stability of the building. This research aims to analyze the structure of a 2-story house in a housing complex built by PT. Tunas Jaya Masterpiece is located in Sedayu Hamlet, Kuripan Village, Kuripan District, West Lombok Regency. Structural analysis was carried out with the help of ETABS version 19 software to determine the structural response to various types of loads acting on the building. The research method used is the structural analysis method with building modeling using ETABS software. The analysis results obtained include a bending moment of 14.94 kNm, a shear force of 97 kN, an axial force of 247.76 kN, and Storey drift (floor drift) is still safe and smaller than the permitted stirey drift. Based on the results of the analysis carried out, it was found that the structure of the two-story house was able to withstand the working loads and met structural safety requirements in accordance with applicable planning provisions. Thus, the building structure is considered quite safe and suitable for use as a residential building.
