Abstract

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is increasingly applied to improve the accuracy of quantity take-off and cost estimation; however, differences may occur between manual calculations, BIM, and consultant estimates due to reinforcement detailing and compliance with SNI 2847:2019. This study aims to evaluate reinforced concrete work against SNI 2847:2019 and compare concrete volume, reinforcement quantity, and cost estimates obtained from manual calculations, 5D BIM using Autodesk Revit 2024, and the consultant’s RAB. The study employed a quantitative, non-experimental case-study approach using secondary data consisting of Detailed Engineering Design (DED), consultant’s RAB, 2024 AHSP, and SNI 2847:2019. Structural elements were remodelled in Autodesk Revit 2024 after adjusting reinforcement details, including lap length, anchorage hooks, and stirrup spacing, according to the applicable standard. BIM results were validated through manual calculations and compared with the consultant’s RAB. The results show that several reinforcement details were not fully compliant, particularly in pedestal, beam, and sloof elements. After adjustment, the BIM model satisfied the audited SNI parameters. Concrete volume from BIM and manual calculation was 420.50 m³, compared with 440.50 m³ in the consultant’s RAB, resulting in a 20.00 m³ or 5% difference. Reinforcement quantity was 74,993.00 kg compared with 67,833.50 kg, resulting in a difference of 7,159.50 kg or 11%. The BIM-based reinforcement cost was Rp1,494,517,384, compared with Rp1,297,208,667 in the consultant’s RAB, producing a difference of Rp197,308,717 or 15%. The findings demonstrate that integrating SNI-based reinforcement detailing, BIM 5D, and AHSP supports a consistent and traceable approach to quantity take-off and cost estimation.

Abstract

This study aimed to plan a communal domestic wastewater treatment system for the fishing settlement in Dusun 1 and Dusun 2, Labuan Village, Lage District, Poso Regency. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach supported by field observation, interviews, population data, household data, and a village map. Population for the 2030 design horizon was projected using arithmetic, geometric, and least-square methods. The largest projection, 775 people, was used for subsequent design calculations. Domestic wastewater flow was estimated from water demand, while the communal treatment units were sized hydraulically. The results produced a total design flow of 75.33 m³/day or 3.14 m³/hour, consisting of 74.37 m³/day from households and 0.96 m³/day from a restaurant. The effective volumes and hydraulic retention times were 7.8 m³ and 2.48 hours for the grease trap, 13 m³ and 4.14 hours for the primary settling tank, 10.4 m³ and 3.31 hours for the anaerobic biofilter, and 9.1 m³ and 2.90 hours for the final settling tank. The proposed design provides a planning basis for centralized domestic wastewater management in the coastal settlement, while implementation still requires elevation control, routine maintenance, community participation, and effluent quality monitoring.

Abstract

The heightened utilization of nonlinear electrical loads in skyscrapers can produce harmonic distortion that impacts power quality. This research is to examine the attributes of Total Harmonic Distortion of current (THD-I) and Total Harmonic Distortion of voltage (THD-V) inside a low-voltage distribution network comprising multiple panels. Measurements were executed utilizing the Schneider PowerLogic PM5300 across eight distribution panels, specifically Tower E, Tower F, Tower G, Tower H, Tower J, Tower K, FIRE, and Utility/Non-Fire. Observations took place over a span of four days at 06:00, 08:00, 14:00, 18:00, 22:00, and 23:00 throughout three phases, yielding 576 initial data points for both THD-I and THD-V. The evaluation procedure uncovered four sets of THD-I and THD-V data for phase 1 on August 9, 2026, at 08:00, which necessitated verification and were consequently excluded from the primary assessment. The peak THD-I values among the panels vary from 12.1% to 40.2%, with the FIRE panel exhibiting the highest measurement. The confirmed maximum THD-V values among the panels vary from 2.0% to 2.9%, with the peak value identified in the Utility/Non-Fire panel. All confirmed THD-V values are beneath the benchmark of 8% for systems operating at voltages up to 1 kV, according to IEEE Std 519-2022. Nevertheless, these findings do not suffice to assert complete adherence to IEEE 519, as the measurement location has not been validated as the Point of Common Coupling. THD-I is examined descriptively and is not utilized to assess current harmonic compliance due to the unavailability of short-circuit current (Isc) and maximum demand load current (IL) data necessary for Total Demand Distortion analysis. The capacitor bank's supporting data indicates a power factor ranging from 0.96 to 1.00. The findings indicate that a power factor nearing unity does not consistently correlate with little current harmonic distortion. Consequently, THD-I, THD-V, and power factor must be analyzed as supplementary metrics in evaluating the power quality of a building's electrical infrastructure.

Abstract

The increasing use of recycled plastic waste as an alternative raw material requires manufacturing companies to maintain process efficiency and product quality while minimizing production failures. PT RII processes plastic waste into value-added products; however, its production process still generates a considerable amount of rejected products, particularly in pallet production. This study aims to identify dominant production waste, determine the major causes of pallet production failures, and establish improvement priorities using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Production data from January to June 2026, including raw material input, production output, and rejected products, were analyzed using Lean Manufacturing to identify waste, Pareto analysis to determine dominant defects, and a fishbone diagram to identify potential causes. FMEA was subsequently applied by assessing Severity, Occurrence, and Detection to establish risk priorities. The results show that defect was the dominant waste, with total rejected products reaching 215,751.8 kg, representing 12.10% of the total raw material processed. Pallet reject was the largest defect category, accounting for 43.63% of total rejected products. The highest Risk Priority Number was associated with the Method factor at 432, followed by Machine at 240, Man at 168, Material at 105, and Environment at 80. The findings imply that improvement should prioritize standardized paste arrangement procedures, operator training, preventive maintenance and machine calibration, material composition standardization, and implementation of the 5S work culture to reduce production failures and improve process efficiency and product quality.

Abstract

Microcontroller-based system training requires participants to understand fundamental logic and programming concepts before directly implementing hardware-based applications. This study analyzes the improvement of participants' basic competencies through the initial stage of an ESP32-based Smart Watering System training program designed as a progressive learning sequence from logical concepts to visual programming. The initial training stage was conducted for six days and covered mathematical logic and logic gates, visual programming using Scratch, and mobile application development using MIT App Inventor. Prior to the training, participants completed a 20-item pre-test to measure their initial competence, while a post-test was administered after completing the entire initial training stage. A total of 34 participants were registered at the beginning of the program, of whom 21 completed all training activities and participated in the post-test. The results showed that the participants' mean score increased from 68.33 in the pre-test to 86.67 in the post-test, representing an improvement of 18.33 points. A paired-samples t-test indicated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores with t(20)=4.36 and p<0.001. Cohen's dz effect size of 0.95 indicated a large magnitude of change. These results suggest that progressive learning through mathematical logic, logic gates, Scratch, and MIT App Inventor can support the development of participants' fundamental competencies before proceeding to C programming, Arduino, and the implementation of an ESP32-based Smart Watering System.

Abstract

Temperature and humidity management in poultry houses is an important factor in maintaining suitable environmental conditions for poultry farming. This study was conducted at Hasan Farm, located in Kampung Cimuncang Cilik, Cimuncang Village, Serang District, Serang City, Banten Province. The operation of ventilation fans at the research site was still performed manually, resulting in suboptimal responses to temperature changes, while direct monitoring of the poultry house was inefficient in terms of time and labor. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automatic fan control system capable of monitoring and controlling poultry house conditions in real time. The system uses an ESP32 as the central controller, a DHT22 sensor to measure temperature and humidity, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to detect distance, a 4-channel relay module to control the actuators, a 16×2 I2C LCD for local display, and the Blynk application for monitoring, remote control, and notifications. Sensor data are processed by the ESP32 to automatically activate the fan when the temperature reaches or exceeds 30°C, while the lamp is controlled manually through Blynk. Test results show that the system can display temperature, humidity, and distance data in real time through the LCD and Blynk, control the relay, fan, and lamp according to the operating mode, and send notifications when the temperature exceeds the specified threshold. The system can effectively, efficiently, and responsively support integrated monitoring and control of poultry house conditions, thereby contributing to improved poultry farm productivity.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of digital transactions and contactless services has driven the demand for compact, flexible printing systems, particularly for Quick Response (QR) codes. This study designs and evaluates an ESP32-based wireless sticker paper printer tailored for real-time QR code generation and printing. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Borg and Gall model, the prototype integrates an ESP32 microcontroller, a 58 mm Bluetooth thermal printer, an I2C 16x2 LCD display, and push-button inputs. System performance was analyzed based on software-hardware integration and Bluetooth Response Time (BRT) across varying distances. The results demonstrate that the system operates reliably within a 2 to 8-meter range, maintaining a stable response time of 95–96 ms. At 10 meters, response time increases significantly to 2,908 ms due to packet loss, while distances exceeding 10 meters lead to disconnection ("BT Failed"). This standalone system offers a responsive, cost-effective wireless printing solution for QR code labeling in micro, small, and medium enterprises.

Abstract

This research develops a single-phase AC electrical parameter monitoring system based on the Wemos D1 microcontroller, PZEM-004T sensor, and ThingSpeak Internet of Things platform. The system monitors voltage, current, active power, electrical energy, frequency, and power factor, and transmits measurement data through Wi-Fi for real-time remote monitoring. The research uses an engineering and experimental approach consisting of hardware and software design, system integration, implementation, and testing under several household load conditions. Tests included a fan, refrigerator, and electric iron, with additional evaluation under low-load and high-load operating periods. The fan test produced approximately 213–218 V, 0.03–0.05 A, 4–6 W, and a power factor of 0.58–0.85. The refrigerator showed approximately 200–208 V with fluctuating current and power according to the compressor cycle and a power factor of 0.60–0.85. The electric iron produced 212–219 V, 0.2–1.5 A, 30–400 W, and a power factor of 0.98–1.00. Frequency remained within 49.9–50 Hz. Measurement data were successfully transmitted and displayed on ThingSpeak in real time. The results indicate that the system can continuously monitor different load characteristics and support remote household electrical monitoring. Accuracy was evaluated from consistency and load-response characteristics because laboratory-standard calibration was not performed.

Abstract

Government building projects work under tight schedules because they must finish within one fiscal year, while late handover triggers a daily contractual penalty. This study establishes the critical path of the Manado Public Health Laboratory project worth IDR 16,385,611,007.54, calculates project duration and cost after acceleration, and assesses whether the acceleration is financially defensible. Secondary data from the contract bill of quantity and the planned S curve were analysed with the Critical Path Method, then accelerated through the Time Cost Trade Off method by adding three overtime hours a day. The network of twenty two work packages produced a duration of 546 days, seventeen of which lay on the critical path. Crashing the ten critical packages lasting at least 28 days shortened the project to 459 days, a saving of 87 days or 15.93 percent. Direct cost rose by IDR 932,985,520.50 while indirect cost fell by IDR 130,544,703.21, so total cost increased by IDR 802,440,817.29 or 4.90 percent. The exchange rate stayed at IDR 9,223,457.67 per day, below the late delivery penalty of IDR 16,385,611.01 per day. Acceleration is worth running as a schedule recovery measure, yet brings no gain when the project runs on plan.

Abstract

Abundant corn cob waste in Malua District, Enrekang Regency, holds potential for use as an additive in lightweight brick production, offering a way to reduce cement consumption while enhancing the utilization of agricultural waste. This study aimed to determine the effect of adding corn cob charcoal on the water absorption and compressive strength of lightweight bricks. An experimental method was employed at the Structures and Materials Laboratory, utilizing corn cob charcoal addition levels of 2.5%, 5.0%, and 7.5%. Testing was conducted at curing ages of 7, 14, and 28 days. The parameters tested included weight, water absorption, and compressive strength. The results indicate that the addition of corn cob charcoal influenced the water absorption of lightweight bricks at 28 days; specifically, higher percentages of corn cob charcoal addition resulted in higher water absorption values. The lowest water absorption value (14.50%) was observed at the 2.5% addition level, increasing to 17.48% at the 5.0% level, and rising further to 26.24% at the 7.5% level. Regarding compressive strength at 28 days, higher percentages of corn cob charcoal addition resulted in lower compressive strength values. The highest compressive strength (1.00 MPa) was obtained at the 2.5% addition level, decreasing to 0.875 MPa at the 5.0% level, and dropping further to 0.625 MPa at the 7.5% level.
