Abstract

The development of information technology has brought fundamental changes in the communication patterns of generation Z, especially in the city of Medan, North Sumatra. This generation is known as digital natives who are highly dependent on technological devices and the internet in their daily communication. Various digital platforms such as social media, instant messaging applications, and online forums are their main means of establishing social interactions. This study aims to analyze the influence of information technology on the communication patterns of generation Z in the city of Medan, by highlighting aspects of changes in communication style, effectiveness of message delivery, and the social impact of the use of information technology in their lives. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with data collection techniques through Google Form (GForm). The questionnaire was distributed online to respondents who were generation Z domiciled in the city of Medan. The data collected was then analyzed to see the patterns of information technology use in their communication, preferences for the digital platforms used, and the positive and negative impacts they felt. The results showed that the majority of respondents preferred text-based and multimedia communication compared to direct communication, for reasons of convenience, time efficiency, and flexibility in communicating. The findings of this study indicate that although information technology has made communication easier, there are also challenges that arise, such as reduced face-to-face communication capabilities and increased risk of miscommunication due to different interpretations of messages. Therefore, a balance is needed in the use of information technology so that generation Z can maintain effective communication quality, both in the digital world and direct social interactions. By understanding communication patterns, society and policy makers can be wiser in designing digital literacy strategies that support healthier and more productive communication.

Abstract

This study focuses on implementation of a web-based tuition payment data management information system at biMBA AIUEO Karanganyar Kebumen to improve the efficiency of financial administration. The system is developed to help record payments more quickly, accurately, and systematically, thereby reducing the risk of errors from manual recording. It is also designed to assist administrators in monitoring payment transactions in real-time and increasing the transparency of financial reporting. The Research and Development (R&D) method was employed along with the ADDIE development approach tailored to user needs. Testing was conducted using the Black-Box Testing method, along with distributing questionnaires to unit head unit heads, admins, and students’ parents. The results show that the developed system improves the efficiency of tuition payment management, minimizes input errors, and speeds up access to information. The system’s implementation contributes to greater transparency and effectiveness in the institution’s financial administration.

Abstract

. Digital image processing is one of the important aspects in the world of technology, especially in improving image quality from noise interference. This study aims to analyze and compare the performance of the Median Filter and Gaussian Filter in reducing salt & pepper noise in digital images. The research process was carried out using the Python programming language and the OpenCV and NumPy libraries. The initial image was randomly noised, then processed using both types of filters. The results obtained were evaluated visually and quantitatively using the PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and MSE (Mean Squared Error) metrics. Based on the experimental results, the Median Filter was able to produce cleaner images and maintain image details compared to the Gaussian Filter. These results indicate that the Median Filter has advantages in handling salt & pepper noise. This study is expected to be a reference in selecting the right filtering method to improve the quality of digital images.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dynamics of public opinion on TikTok regarding the university-style graduation ceremony organized by SMK Citra Bangsa Mandiri Purwokerto. Employing a mixed-methods approach that integrates sentiment and framing analysis, a total of 285 user comments were analyzed through quantitative and qualitative techniques. Sentiment analysis revealed a predominance of negative comments at 89.1 percent, followed by neutral comments at 10.9 percent, with no positive sentiment identified. This distribution reflects an extreme polarization of opinion and a symbolic legitimacy crisis. The dominant frame focused on the inappropriate use of academic terminology, while the moral frame, though infrequent, achieved the highest level of engagement. The study underscores the role of emotional narratives in shaping public perception and highlights how social media algorithms amplify controversial content. These findings contribute to the development of digital media studies in Indonesia and provide practical implications for educational institutions and policymakers in addressing culturally sensitive public issues.

Abstract

This research discusses the use of TikTok as a medium for da'wah among the younger generation, which is an integral part of the development of da'wah communication in the digital era. With its engaging short video format, TikTok offers preachers the opportunity to reach a wider audience. However, there are challenges related to communication ethics and the substance of da'wah that need to be overcome to maintain the relevance and accuracy of the message. The aim of this research is to analyze how the creativity of da'wah content can be integrated with the ethical principles of Islamic communication, as well as identifying the impacts and challenges faced. Findings show that 70 percent of respondents use TikTok for more than an hour every day, and 65 percent believe this platform is effective as a medium for preaching. However, challenges such as the spread of invalid information and the commercialization of da'wah still exist. This research recommends the need for interactive communication strategies and collaboration with experts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of da'wah content. With a wise approach, the use of TikTok can be an effective tool for spreading peaceful and inclusive Islamic values.

Abstract

Social conflict in the academic environments is a phenomenon that frequently occurs in student interactions. This research aims to analyze the role of interpersonal communication in handling social conflicts that occur in class 4A of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, and in-depth interviews. The research subjects were 36 students from class 4A KPI. The results show that effective interpersonal communication plays an important role in resolving social conflicts through three main aspects namely communication openness that enables understanding of different perspectives, active listening skills that reduce misunderstandings, and empathy that builds bridges of understanding between individuals. Interpersonal communication strategies that have proven effective include open dialogue, communication mediation, and the formation of class discussion forums. This research concludes that structured and continuous interpersonal communication is able to transform destructive conflicts into constructive conflicts that encourage social and academic growth of students.

Abstract

Sociological da'wah strategy as a scientific approach in answering social problems in society. Sociology of da'wah not only conveys Islamic values, but also pays attention to social, cultural, and societal change aspects. This article presents the thoughts of Muslim sociologists, the development of da'wah theory, and the challenges and opportunities of da'wah in the modern era. Through a qualitative descriptive approach and literature study, this study shows that sociological-based da'wah strategies can increase the effectiveness of religious messages and strengthen positive social change in society.

Abstract

This study uses AES-256 encryption to protect data in Android messaging apps. The algorithm works well, encrypting text messages in 0.05 seconds and multimedia files in 0.2 seconds, without affecting device resources. Testing confirms that AES-256 effectively protects user data while maintaining communication capabilities in real time. These findings provide valuable insights for developers seeking to enhance data protection in instant messaging platforms without compromising user experience. The solution offers an optimal balance between security and performance for mobile applications.

Abstract

Film plays a significant role in shaping perceptions and behaviors, particularly among adolescents. Action films with themes of teenage life and inter-gang fights, such as Crows Zero, are compelling to watch and have the potential to be a source of inspiration. This study aims to analyze the meaning of the messages contained in the film Crows Zero, focusing on understanding that the name "Genji" is not just the main character's identity but also holds a deep symbolic meaning. Employing a qualitative approach with semiotic analysis, this research seeks to describe, analyze, and record the meanings and symbols present in the film. The findings indicate that despite depicting violence, Crows Zero conveys moral messages about true strength, the importance of self-discovery, the value of friendship, and perseverance. The character of Genji has a significant influence on the audience, especially teenagers, who emulate his speech and behavior as a source of motivation and inspiration. Overall, the name "Genji" in the film represents leadership, spirit, and the search for identity, which are highly relevant to adolescent life, while also demonstrating the effectiveness of film as a tool for conveying messages and shaping the audience's character..

Abstract

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has driven the need for efficient, secure, and reliable firmware update systems. Firmware plays a vital role in maintaining the performance, security, and functionality of IoT devices, including those based on the ESP32, which is widely used due to its cost-effectiveness and connectivity capabilities. However, conventional firmware update methods that require physical connections are inefficient for managing large-scale, distributed devices. Over-the-Air (OTA) technology offers a more relevant solution by enabling wireless firmware updates without manual intervention. This study aims to design and implement a cloud-based OTA firmware update system for ESP32 devices. In this approach, the ESP32 acts as a client that automatically downloads the latest firmware from a cloud server, eliminating the need for a local server infrastructure. The expected outcome is a system capable of efficiently distributing firmware, ensuring the integrity and authenticity of update files, and supporting large-scale IoT device management in a more practical and sustainable manner.
