Abstract

This research aims to analyze the sentiment of X platform users towards the use of the keyword "Prabowo Gemoy" as a personal branding strategy for Prabowo Subianto in the context of the 2024 Presidential Election. By employing a mixed-method approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods, this study explores public perceptions of Prabowo's efforts to build an image that is closer to young voters through the "Prabowo Gemoy" branding. Data were collected from the X platform using the keyword "Prabowo Gemoy" during the period of 01/12/2023 to 13/02/2024, resulting in 517 data points that were analyzed quantitatively to measure sentiment statistics and communication networks, as well as qualitatively through text analysis to understand the context behind the sentiments. The results of the sentiment analysis show a dominance of positive sentiment (65.38%), followed by neutral sentiment (22.05%), and negative sentiment (12.57%), indicating that the "Prabowo Gemoy" branding strategy has been well-received by most X platform users. Furthermore, the influencer analysis revealed key users who have significant influence in disseminating related content, while the word cloud visualization identified dominant keywords in the discussions. These findings provide valuable insights for Prabowo Subianto's campaign team to refine their branding strategy and content dissemination on social media in an effort to reach young voters.

Abstract

This study focuses on the challenges and opportunities of implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of Public Relations (PR). The main issues addressed are the lack of technical understanding among PR practitioners and the ethical and privacy concerns arising from AI usage. The purpose of this study is to analyze how AI can enhance operational efficiency and the effectiveness of communication strategies, as well as to identify new metrics introduced by AI. The method used is a literature review from various academic and industry sources, including scientific journals, books, industry reports, and online articles. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic analysis approach, where information from various sources was organized into key themes relevant to the research topic. The results indicate that AI offers significant potential in enhancing PR effectiveness through real-time sentiment analysis, digital content engagement rate, and predictive analytics. Case studies from companies like Apple, Coca-Cola, IBM, and Sephora illustrate how AI can be used to improve audience interaction, user engagement, and PR campaign ROI.

Abstract

The "Compact: Communication Impact" political literacy program was held to enhance the political awareness of 12th-grade students at SMKN 1 Pangandaran ahead of the 2024 Regional Election. Political literacy is crucial to fostering quality democratic participation, especially among youth. The program included Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), debates, expert sessions, and pre- and post-tests to measure outcomes. A total of 34 students participated, aiming to improve their ability to detect hoaxes, analyze political issues, and understand their role as first-time voters. Evaluation results showed a 6.05% increase in post-test scores, indicating improved political literacy. Students also shifted from apathetic to more critical and active political attitudes. This program successfully provided relevant political knowledge and practical skills, becoming a model for future youth political literacy initiatives.

Abstract

This research examines the social communication practices of bilingual members within the EXO-L fandom in Indonesia on the X platform (formerly Twitter), with a focus on the utilization of English slang words. Employing a qualitative research design through virtual ethnography, the study investigates three key objectives: self-concept construction, self-existence assertion, and the development of interpersonal relationships. The findings highlight that English slang words function as a linguistic medium for identity expression, social integration, and solidarity reinforcement. Members demonstrate adaptability in selecting between English slang and formal English to align with social norms while maintaining individual authenticity. The use of shared linguistic features and mutual interest in EXO as a K-Pop idol group facilitates accelerated relationship-building and deepened social bonds. This study provides theoretical contributions to the field of digital communication and popular culture studies, offering insights into the dynamics of virtual communities in a globalized digital era.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought significant transformations in the field of communication. AI not only changes how information is delivered but also how human interactions occur, whether in interpersonal, organizational, or mass communication. This study aims to explore the role of AI in communication transformation by highlighting the challenges and innovations arising from the implementation of this technology. Through a literature review from various academic sources, this research identifies several key innovations, such as content automation, message personalization, and the use of chatbots in digital communication. However, ethical and technical challenges such as algorithmic bias, transparency, data privacy, and impacts on traditional jobs remain issues that need to be addressed. The study finds that while AI offers significant opportunities in enhancing communication efficiency and effectiveness, its sustainable implementation depends greatly on clear regulations, ethical awareness, and a balance between human and technological roles. This research provides insights for practitioners and academics to harness AI's potential while mitigating the risks arising during the communication transformation process.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of Okka Supardan's visual posts on Facebook in driving the virality of the Panyaweuyan Majalengka tourist attraction. Using a qualitative case study approach and visual analysis methods, the research examines the visual elements in the posts and analyzes the responses of Facebook users. The research findings indicate that consistent posting, the use of human interest elements, innovative photography techniques such as aerial photography, as well as aesthetic visual elements like captivating compositions, dramatic lighting, and contrasting colors contribute to the success in driving virality. The selection of the right time for taking photos, such as the golden hour and blue hour, also plays a crucial role. The research reveals Okka's role as a credible and influential local influencer in disseminating information about Panyaweuyan. Nevertheless, challenges such as the spread of inaccurate information and overtourism need to be managed through collaboration between tourism managers and influencers.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mendorong pelaku Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) untuk beradaptasi dengan strategi komunikasi yang lebih inovatif. Salah satu bentuk transformasi komunikasi tersebut adalah penggunaan micro-vlogging di platform TikTok sebagai media storytelling dan branding. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji proses adopsi micro-vlogging TikTok oleh pelaku UMKM di Cirebon dan Majalengka melalui perspektif Teori Difusi Inovasi dari Everett Rogers. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus dan paradigma konstruktivisme. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari empat narasumber, yaitu ketua UMKM Kota Cirebon, ketua UMKM Kabupaten Majalengka, serta dua anggota UMKM dari masing-masing wilayah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses adopsi TikTok melalui lima tahapan difusi inovasi: pengetahuan, persuasi, keputusan, implementasi, dan konfirmasi. TikTok dinilai sebagai inovasi komunikasi yang efektif karena mampu menyampaikan pesan branding secara visual, singkat, dan emosional. Namun demikian, tingkat pemanfaatan TikTok sebagai media branding masih beragam, tergantung pada faktor literasi digital, dukungan komunitas, dan pengalaman pribadi. Konteks geografis dan ekonomi Cirebon-Majalengka yang strateginya memperkuat urgensi penerapan inovasi digital dalam meningkatkan daya saing UMKM. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi kontekstual dan teoritis dalam kajian komunikasi digital UMKM, khususnya di wilayah berkembang.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Corporate Social Responsibility in the empowerment initiative of regional dance at SDN Sawotratap, Sidoarjo. The purpose of this study focuses on how stakeholder theory analysis is carried out in the Corporate Social Responsibility empowerment program of Regional Dance at SDN Sawotratap Sidoarjo, by combining cross-cultural communication theory and stakeholder theory, which emphasizes people, profit, and planet. The method used is qualitative research, specifically the case study approach, to collect data through observation and interviews. The analysis is based on stakeholder theory, the concept of the Triple Bottom Line, and cross-cultural communication theory. The findings of this study indicate that the Corporate Social Responsibility efforts of PT PLN Nusantara Power Services have involved various stakeholders, both internal and external, including teachers and students, as well as corporate communication and CSR initiatives within PT PLN Nusantara Power Services. The impact of this CSR empowerment program can positively contribute to the sustainability of the CSR community empowerment program, in this case, through the preservation of culture and community participation, in line with the objectives of the study related to stakeholder theory in the implementation of corporate social responsibility initiatives of regional dance in community empowerment programs.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Roblox sebagai platform permainan daring dan ekosistem sosial kreatif dalam membentuk identitas kaum muda. Penelitian ini mencakup dimensi psikologis, sosial, kultural, edukasional, dan etis, dengan fokus pada peluang dan tantangannya. Studi ini menggunakan tinjauan literatur sistematis terhadap sepuluh studi internasional terbaru, dengan pendekatan analisis tematik untuk mengidentifikasi tren yang muncul. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Roblox memfasilitasi eksplorasi diri melalui kustomisasi avatar, interaksi daring, dan kolaborasi kreatif. Keterlibatan positif dalam komunitas dan kerja tim dapat memperkuat rasa percaya diri dan keterampilan komunikasi, sementara pengalaman negatif seperti perundungan daring atau paparan konten berbahaya dapat menghambat perkembangan identitas. Beberapa studi juga menyoroti potensi Roblox untuk intervensi edukasional dan psikosocial, dengan keberhasilan bergantung pada narasi yang dirancang dengan baik dan moderasi yang kuat. Selain itu, konteks budaya, kebijakan perlindungan data, dan keselamatan digital memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk hasil tersebut. Studi ini menekankan perlunya kolaborasi antara pengembang, pendidik, orang tua, dan pembuat kebijakan untuk menciptakan lingkungan virtual yang aman, inklusif, dan mendukung bagi pertumbuhan identitas yang berkelanjutan pada kaum muda.

Abstract

This study examines the international media's portrayal of the vasectomy policy as a prerequisite for accessing social assistance, as proposed by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi. Using Robert Entman's theoretical framework, this research examines how three international media outlets (Channel News Asia, South China Morning Post, and The Telegraph) frame this controversial policy through four key elements: problem definition, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. The research method employs qualitative framing analysis with a systematic approach to the news corpus from the three media outlets. Results indicate that all three media outlets use negative framing with a dominance of moral evaluation (90%) and problem definition (85%), yet with different strategies: SCMP uses a "discriminatory policy" frame (9/10), Telegraph emphasizes "human rights violation" (8/10), and CNA employs a "governance problem" approach (7/10). Differences in intensity and editorial tone reflect the geographical and ideological orientations of each media outlet, with the SCMP being the most critical, the Telegraph focusing on international human rights standards, and CNA adopting a more contextual approach to the complexities of Southeast Asia. This study confirms the relevance of Entman's theory in the digital era and reveals that treatment recommendation is the most diverse element in international framing. These findings offer strategic implications for Indonesia's public diplomacy, suggesting the development of targeted and proactive communication strategies in response to the evolving global media landscape.
