Abstract

The development of the beauty industry in Indonesia is projected to increase every year. One of the factors driving this development is the rise in consumption and use of cosmetics among Indonesian society. The National Waste Management Information System (SIPS) reported that in 2022 there were 35 million tonnes of waste, with the beauty industry contributing 6.8 million tonnes, 70% of which was not properly managed. This situation raises concerns about the welfare of the global ecosystem and encourages sustainability efforts across various business sectors. BASE is one of the companies that applies the green beauty concept through vegan products, environmentally friendly production processes, and several green movement initiatives. This study aims to measure the influence of green product and green advertising on the purchase intention of Generation Z in DKI Jakarta toward BASE’s vegan products. This research employs a quantitative method with a positivistic paradigm to measure the significance of influence and to test the hypotheses. The Theory of Consumption Value (TCV) serves as the theoretical foundation in understanding the underlying values that shape consumer purchase intention. Data from 100 respondents were processed using multiple linear regression analysis and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that green product and green advertising have a positive and significant simultaneous effect on purchase intention. These findings suggest that the implementation of green advertising by BASE as a marketing strategy, along with the green product concept that provides benefits for both users and the environment, contributes positively to increasing the purchase intention of Generation Z consumers.

Abstract

This study examines the role of coach communication in fostering Ma’had Al-Zaytun football athletes as a medium of da’wah for instilling Islamic values. Departing from the importance of communication in character development, the purpose of this research is to analyze the da’wah values contained in the interaction between coach and athletes and to identify the da’wah communication methods employed. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques conducted during training activities within the pesantren environment. The results indicate that the coach’s communication not only delivers technical instructions but also serves as a medium for the internalization of da’wah that al igns with Al-Zaytun’s vision of integral education; the value of aqidah is manifested through habitual worship, moral values are reflected in discipline, responsibility, politeness, solidarity, and sportsmanship, while sharia values are evident in obedience to worship and game rules. The communication methods used are natural and contextual, combining hikmah, mau’izhah hasanah, qaulan layyinan, and exemplary conduct; da’wah is internalized through direct interaction, coach exemplification, and practical on-field experiences. The findings affirm the effectiveness of sports training as a medium of da’wah that cultivates faithful, moral, and responsible athletes.

Abstract

The development of information technology has encouraged educational institutions to make more optimal use of academic data in order to improve the quality of learning evaluation. Data such as assignment scores, quizzes, midterm exams, final exams, and student attendance are no longer just administrative archives, but can be processed using Educational Data Mining (EDM) techniques to generate new information that supports the academic decision-making process. This study aims to build a model for predicting students' final grades using the Decision Tree algorithm by utilizing these academic attributes as input variables. The research process was carried out in several stages, starting from data collection, preprocessing, data transformation, classification model formation, to performance evaluation using a confusion matrix and accuracy calculations. The results of the study show that the Decision Tree algorithm is capable of classifying students' final grades with an accuracy of 80%. Feature importance analysis reveals that final exam scores are the most influential attribute in the formation of decision tree structures, followed by midterm exam scores, while assignment, quiz, and attendance scores contribute less. These findings indicate that summative evaluation plays a dominant role in determining students' final grades. Overall, this study proves that Decision Tree is an effective classification method that is easy to interpret and highly relevant for use in the context of EDM, especially in helping schools conduct objective and data-driven student performance analysis.

Abstract

The kidneys are a vital organ in the body's metabolic system. Most people still lack understanding of the importance of their role in the human body, especially the various diseases that can arise in the kidney area. They are also less familiar with the symptoms of kidney disease. Kidney disease requires specialist doctors to diagnose it, which is relatively expensive, and the number of nephrologists in Indonesia is still limited. Limited knowledge about kidney disease and the limited number of nephrologists makes it difficult for the public to diagnose kidney disease early. The system development methodology used is the Extreme Programming (XP) methodology. This study builds an expert system application for the early diagnosis of kidney disease using the inference method, namely the forward chaining method. A survey was conducted with 20 respondents selected by sampling to test the design and usability of the application. After conducting UAT (user acceptance task) testing, the average UAT percentage of respondents was 84.4%. This study assessed the design and usability of the kidney disease expert system application.

Abstract

Rice is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia that has a strategic role in maintaining national food security. One of the main factors that hinders the increase in rice crop production is disease attacks, which can be caused by pathogens, host plant conditions, or less supportive environmental factors. The process of diagnosing rice crop diseases generally requires special expertise, knowledge, and experience from experts in the field of agriculture, the availability of which is still limited in some areas. Therefore, technology-based solutions are needed to assist farmers in making quick and accurate diagnoses. This research aims to build a mobile-based expert system that is able to diagnose 13 types of rice plant diseases based on 43 symptoms, by referring to the knowledge of three experts. The reasoning method used is forward chaining, while the uncertainty calculation method uses Shafer's Dempster theory. The results of the black box test showed that the expert system had a functional suitability rate of 100% based on all test scenarios carried out. In addition, the results of the theoretical calculation test showed that the system calculation was in accordance with the results of manual calculations. The accuracy test of the system on 30 test cases obtained an accuracy rate of 81.11%, so the system is considered quite reliable as a tool to diagnose rice plant diseases.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze intercultural communication strategies and the effectiveness of communication within the service interactions at Bakung Beach Resort, Badung, Bali. The study is based on the increasing intercultural interactions between resort staff and international tourists, which require communication competencies capable of bridging differences in language, values, and communication styles. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, utilizing in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that the intercultural communication strategies implemented by the staff include the use of nonverbal expressions such as smiling, eye contact, and gestures, language adjustment through simple and clear sentences, and emotional management to maintain a comfortable interaction. Communication effectiveness is analyzed using Gudykunst’s Anxiety/Uncertainty Management (AUM) Theory, which consists of four indicators: predictive uncertainty, explanatory uncertainty, anxiety management, and effectiveness of message delivery. Results indicate that the staff successfully reduce uncertainty through careful observation of guest behavior, interpret guest intentions through clarification and nonverbal cues, and manage anxiety to maintain polite and professional service. Communication is considered effective as indicated by minimal misunderstandings, increased tourist comfort, and the creation of harmonious interpersonal relationships. This study concludes that cultural adaptability and the application of appropriate communication strategies play crucial roles in delivering high-quality services in a multicultural hospitality environment.

Abstract

Overtourism has emerged as a emergd as a structural crisis in many tourism destinations, including Bali, driven by post-pandemic visitation growth, media amplification, and limited destination carrying capacity. This condition has intensified environmental, social, and reputational pressures, necessitating that tourism stakeholders adopt effective crisis communication strategies. This study aims to analyze crisis communication practices employed by the tourism industry in Bali in addressing overtourism issues, identify the roles of key stakeholders, and evaluate the implications of media and digital communication in shaping public perceptions. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with government officials, tourism industry actors, and local community representatives, complemented by field observations and document analysis. The data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of crisis narratives, coordination mechanisms, and communication strategies. The findings indicate that crisis communication in Bali is increasingly characterized by collaborative governance, transparency-oriented messaging, and the strategic use of digital platforms to manage public discourse. Media framing and user-generated content were found to significantly influence the escalation of overtourism as a reputational crisis, while coordinated communication among stakeholders helped mitigate negative perceptions and support sustainable tourism policies. This study concludes that effective crisis communication plays a critical role not only in managing overtourism-related crises but also in strengthening destination resilience and long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This study examines the application of management principles in the operation of broadcasting media businesses in an era where information flows are rapidly expanding. Effective management in the processes of news coverage and broadcasting is essential to ensure that the information delivered to the public remains accurate, relevant, and highly credible. The purpose of this research is to explore how management principles can be utilized to improve the operational quality of broadcasting media and enhance the institutions’ ability to respond to industry dynamics.The method used is a qualitative approach through a literature study, critically reviewing various primary and secondary sources. The findings indicate that the proper implementation of management principles can strengthen work structures, improve team coordination, and maximize the efficiency of broadcasting processes. These results provide new insights into management strategies that enable broadcasting media to adapt to contemporary needs and challenges. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of continuous managerial innovation to maintain the competitiveness of broadcasting institutions amid technological changes and the evolving preferences of audiences.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine whether the dissemination of information by the Instagram account @txtdarisukabumi had an effect on the level of understanding of information among its followers. The background of this study stems from the habit of people increasingly relying on social media as a source of information, including for following local issues in their area. This study used a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents who were followers of the account. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive analysis and simple linear regression to see the relationship between information dissemination as variable X and the level of information comprehension as variable Y. The results showed that respondents rated the information dissemination of the @txtdarisukabumi account as high, especially in terms of meeting information needs and motivation to use Instagram to obtain information.  Other findings also show that followers' level of understanding of information is high, both in terms of attention to issues and understanding of the context of the information. Regression results show a positive influence between the dissemination of information and the level of understanding of information, which means that the better the information is conveyed, the better the followers' understanding of the message content. Based on these findings, this study concludes that the @txtdarisukabumi account plays a significant role in helping followers understand the local issues presented, so that the dissemination of information through social media can be an effective means of increasing public understanding of the information they consume.

Abstract

The establishment of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) in 2025 triggered the spread of misinformation regarding the management of funds in state-owned banks, including Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). The lack of early public communication led some BNI Denpasar Branch customers to experience uncertainty and concern about the security of their savings. This study aims to analyze the role of BNI’s organizational communication in shaping customers’ social construction of Danantara’s existence through Berger and Luckmann’s three stages of social construction, externalization, objectivation, and internalization. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving customers, frontliners (customer service and tellers), and supporting informants from GenBI, totaling seven participants. The findings show that in the externalization stage, customers’ initial perceptions were shaped by social media information dominated by negative and speculative narratives. In the objectivation stage, BNI’s organizational communication, through internal briefings, circular letters, and direct clarification by frontliners, played a role in stabilizing meanings and reducing customer anxiety. In the internalization stage, customers accepted a new understanding that Danantara is not related to their deposits, allowing them to regain a sense of financial security. Thus, BNI’s organizational communication plays a significant role in shaping customers’ social construction, dispelling misinformation, and restoring public trust in the bank’s stability amid national issues related to Danantara.
