Abstract

A human resource development program based on excellent service was implemented at Rumah Oblong to enhance employee service quality, thereby boosting customer satisfaction and supporting business sustainability. The initiative was prompted by suboptimal service quality, evidenced by inconsistencies in customer service approaches and a lack of uniformity in employee interactions with consumers. The program employed a participatory approach comprising several stages: needs identification (via observation, interviews, and questionnaires), a two-day excellent service training session, two months of mentoring and monitoring, and a final evaluation involving observation, interviews, and assessments of changes in service behavior. The program’s novelty lies in its integrated, continuous approach combining training, mentoring, and monitoring tailored to Rumah Oblong’s operational characteristics. Results indicate improved employee competence, reflected in shifts from "fairly good" to "good" regarding understanding, from "moderately agile" to "agile" regarding work performance, from "moderately solution-oriented" to "solution-oriented" regarding problem-solving, and from "moderately innovative" to "innovative" regarding service innovation; meanwhile, friendliness and service reliability remained at a "good" level. These changes resulted in more consistent service and a more pleasant shopping experience for customers. Thus, the excellent service-based human resource development program proved effective in enhancing service quality at Rumah Oblong.

Abstract

Goat farming in Kalisat Village continues to face issues regarding low productivity due to traditional husbandry practices and a lack of nutritional supplementation. This community service program in Kalisat Village, Ijen District, Bondowoso Regency, aimed to improve goat health and productivity through the implementation of "TeBing" (Temulawak-based goat vitamin), a supplement utilizing local resources. The methods employed included observation, interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), outreach activities, training on vitamin production, and monitoring and evaluation. The results demonstrated an improvement in the farmers' understanding and skills regarding the independent production and application of TeBing vitamins. The distribution and monitoring of Temulawak (Java ginger) planting stock supported the sustainable supply of local raw materials. This program contributes to strengthening farmer self-reliance and fostering a goat farming system that is healthier, more productive, and sustainable.

Abstract

A school environment lacking greenery and vegetation can affect learning comfort and hinder the development of students' environmentally conscious character. These issues were identified at SMP Negeri 3 Sitolu Ori, which faces limitations in ecological spatial arrangement and low student participation in environmental maintenance. This community service initiative aims to create a green and pleasant school environment, foster environmental awareness, and repurpose waste materials into useful items through the implementation of a "Green School" program. The activities took place from April to June 2026, involving the entire school community. Implementation methods included preliminary observation, hands-on practice, a participatory approach, mentoring, and evaluation. The program involved collecting and cleaning used tires, painting them with distinctive Nias ornaments, filling them with soil, planting flowers, arranging the planters, and conducting regular plant maintenance. The results indicate that the Green School program was successfully executed, transforming 10 used tires into functional and aesthetic flower planters. The program succeeded in creating a greener, more pleasant, and comfortable school environment. Scientific findings demonstrate that active student involvement facilitated by a participatory, hands-on approach is effective in enhancing environmental awareness, cleanliness consciousness, the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and a sense of responsibility, while sustainably strengthening character traits related to environmental care.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the digital competence of 20 kindergarten teachers in Bajeng District, Gowa Regency, in developing interactive learning media using the Canva application. The issues faced by the partners included low teacher digital literacy regarding the design of technology-based learning media and minimal utilization of online graphic design applications in early childhood education. The activity employed a participatory "learning-by-doing" approach, comprising needs assessment and orientation, training, hands-on media creation, classroom implementation, and ongoing mentoring. Teacher competence was measured using a pre-test and post-test instrument consisting of 10 multiple-choice questions covering four indicators: digital literacy and competence, principles of visual learning design, mastery of basic Canva features, and the application of interactive media in instruction. The results showed an increase in the average score from 42 in the pre-test to 96 in the post-test. The activity also produced an innovative product Canva-based "Interactive Digital Story Cards" designed to support storytelling and vocabulary acquisition within thematic early childhood learning; this product was implemented in classrooms and elicited a positive response from children regarding interest, participation, and comprehension. These findings indicate the effectiveness of practice-based training in enhancing teachers' digital competence while supporting the transformation of early childhood education toward innovative, creative, and contextual learning in the digital era.

Abstract

Dental trauma is a common issue among adolescents due to high levels of physical activity, yet knowledge regarding initial first aid remains low. Digital media, serving as an engaging educational tool, was utilized to enhance adolescents' knowledge of first aid for dental trauma. This community service activity aimed to improve adolescents' understanding of dental trauma first aid through interactive digital media, specifically videos and Slido quizzes. The implementation involved three stages preparation, execution, and evaluation targeting adolescents aged 15-19 from SMKN 1 Ngasem. During the execution phase, pre-tests and post-tests were conducted covering the definition, types, management, referral, consequences, and prevention of dental trauma. Participant knowledge was evaluated through structured observation regarding their readiness to recognize trauma conditions, determine initial actions, perform management according to first aid principles, and assess the need for referral. The results showed an increase in the participants' average knowledge score from 52.20±10.45 to 79.20±11.30. Improvements were observed across all indicators, demonstrating the potential of digital media to enhance knowledge and prepare adolescents with first aid skills for dental trauma. The activity concluded that the use of interactive digital media is effective in increasing adolescents' knowledge of dental trauma first aid and holds potential as a sustainable tool for oral health education in school settings.

Abstract

Bijeli Village in the Polen District of South Central Timor Regency possesses abundant local legume resources such as small red beans, large red beans, and peanuts yet their utilization remains limited to traditional food consumption without generating significant economic value. This Community Service (PkM) initiative aimed to enhance the community's knowledge and skills in processing these local legumes into tempeh as an alternative to soybean-based tempeh, thereby supporting food diversification based on local potential. The program comprised several stages: outreach, demonstrations, tempeh-making training, ongoing guidance, and evaluation via organoleptic testing of the three tempeh varieties. Twenty residents of Bijeli Village participated in the activities. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm and active engagement, indicating an improvement in their understanding and proficiency regarding the production of tempeh from local legumes. Organoleptic test results revealed that small red bean tempeh achieved the highest acceptance ratings for taste, aroma, and texture; furthermore, 70% of respondents identified it as the product with the greatest potential for further development. These findings demonstrate that small red beans hold significant promise as a raw material for nutritious, high-quality alternative tempeh. Consequently, this initiative contributes tangibly to strengthening local food security and empowering the Bijeli Village community through food diversification and the enhancement of agricultural commodity value.

Abstract

This community service initiative was motivated by the limited availability of sustained religious guidance for Indonesian migrant students at the PKBM PNF (Non-Formal Education Community Learning Center) of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, particularly regarding the strengthening of religious character. This situation necessitated a learning strategy that focused not only on the cognitive aspects of religion but also on the internalization of religious character values ​​among students. The activity aimed to describe the implementation of Syarhil Qur’an training based on cooperative learning principles to strengthen the religious character of migrant students, specifically focusing on interpersonal ethics such as empathy, tolerance, and mutual respect. A service-learning approach was employed, comprising four stages: preparation, introduction, practice and guidance, and performance. The participants consisted of three Indonesian migrant students, supported by the implementation team, teachers, and PKBM administrators. The results indicate that the cooperative learning-based Syarhil Qur’an training successfully enhanced student participation, self-confidence, and collaborative skills. Furthermore, the internalization of religious character values ​​was evident in the students' empathy, tolerance, and mutual respect during social interactions, both within and outside the learning sessions. The program's novelty lies in the application of cooperative learning through the assignment of specific roles qari' (reciter), translator, and pensyarah (expositor) thereby transforming Syarhil Qur’an instruction into a medium for shaping the religious character of migrant students in an overseas non-formal education setting. Consequently, this training model offers an alternative approach to strengthening religious character within non-formal education environments.

Abstract

Many housewives in RT 04/RW 13 of the Mawar Permai Complex, Kubu Raya Regency, operate micro-scale home-based businesses; however, their product promotion still relies on conventional word-of-mouth methods and WhatsApp status updates, resulting in limited market reach. The partners were previously unfamiliar with Pinterest a visual-based social media platform with significant potential for showcasing product catalogs and directing potential buyers to sales channels. This community service activity aimed to enhance the partners' understanding and practical skills in utilizing Pinterest for Business as a digital promotion tool. The implementation method involved a workshop comprising preparation, interactive lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on guidance for creating business accounts, boards, and product pins, attended by 15 participants. Success was measured using pre- and post-test instruments containing ten comprehension questions, alongside a participant satisfaction survey. The results showed an increase in the average comprehension score from 44.33 (pre-test) to 81.00 (post-test) an 82.7% increase with an average N-Gain score of 0.67 (categorized as medium-to-high). Participant satisfaction regarding the activity reached 90.9%. These results indicate that hands-on, practice-based training is effective in improving visual digital marketing literacy among home-based MSME operators.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the competence of elementary school teachers in designing deep learning based on the Tatanen di Bale Atikan (TdBA) framework in Purwakarta Regency. The field implementation of TdBA faces challenges regarding teachers' limited competence in integrating local wisdom with a deep learning approach. The study employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) involving 90 educators from six partner elementary schools. The activities were conducted in five stages: needs analysis, workshops, instructional design mentoring, teaching practice based on lesson study, and evaluation. The results indicate an improvement in teachers' conceptual understanding; the average pre-test score rose from 58 (fair category) to 85 (good category) in the post-test, yielding an N-Gain score of 0.57. Teachers successfully integrated the Pancaniti principles and the four TdBA elements into the 180 instructional units produced. The program concludes that the PAR approach is effective in empowering teachers to design holistic learning experiences that foster students' spiritual, social, and ecological awareness. Continuous mentoring through teacher learning communities is recommended to ensure the program's sustainability.

Abstract

Environmental sanitation is an important factor in realizing a healthy and sustainable environment. One of the problems that is often encountered is the clogging of drainage channels due to the accumulation of garbage, mud, and sediment which has the potential to cause inundation, flooding, and increase the risk of environment-based diseases. This article aims to describe the implementation of community service activities through the Sewer Clean Action as an effort to support the improvement of environmental sanitation. The activity was carried out using a participatory method involving the academic community, local government, and the community through the stages of preparation, socialization, implementation of clean actions, evaluation, and documentation. The results of the activity showed an increase in the cleanliness of drainage channels, smooth water flow, high community participation, and increased public understanding and concern for the importance of maintaining environmental sanitation. In addition to having an impact on improving the physical condition of the environment, this activity also strengthens the culture of mutual cooperation and a sense of community responsibility in maintaining public facilities. Although obstacles are still found in the form of sediment accumulation and the inconsistency of some people in disposing of waste in its place, this activity has proven to be effective as a simple, easy-to-implement, and sustainable model of community service. Therefore, sewer cleaning action can be used as one of the strategies for community empowerment in supporting the creation of a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.
