Abstract

Climate change is a critical issue that requires awareness and active participation from all levels of society. However, scientific information about climate change is often difficult to understand and lacks appeal to the general public. This study aims to establish effective climate communication through the development of an educational board game called Jagad. Jagad presents a dynamic conflict between two opposing sides: the “destroyer,” representing human activities that contribute to carbon emissions, and the “savior,” representing mitigation and adaptation efforts to address climate change. The game was developed using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. During the design and development stages, the game mechanics, rule system, and visual elements were constructed through iterative prototyping and playtesting. The validation process involved climate education experts, instructional media specialists, and groups of players from both student and general community backgrounds. The validation results indicated that Jagad received positive responses and was deemed suitable for use as an educational medium. The playtesting showed that the game effectively improved players’ understanding of climate change issues and enhanced their awareness of the importance of mitigation and adaptation actions. These findings demonstrate that Jagad serves as an effective, interactive, and enjoyable learning medium for communicating complex climate issues in an accessible and meaningful way. This game-based approach has the potential to become an inclusive and impactful strategy for climate communication that fosters public awareness and engagement.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to identify the psychological development challenges faced by adolescents in Madrasah Aliyah, the contributing factors, students’ forms of response, the guidance patterns implemented, their implications for the guidance process, and relevant guidance strategies. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with primary and secondary data obtained through a literature review. Data were collected through documentation studies and analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that adolescents in Madrasah Aliyah encounter various psychological challenges such as identity conflict, academic pressure, emotional instability, and the influence of digital environments. Students’ responses include both adaptive and maladaptive coping strategies. The guidance provided by the madrasah tends to focus on moral and academic aspects, and therefore has not fully addressed the emotional needs of adolescents. Consequently, an integrative guidance model is needed, encompassing emotional, social, and religious reinforcement, along with collaboration among teachers, counselors, and parents.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of mastery of Arabic language competencies (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) among Madrasah Aliyah graduates based on the standards of the National Curriculum; the factors influencing their Arabic proficiency including aspects of instruction, teachers, learning environment, and curriculum; the alignment of Madrasah Aliyah graduates’ Arabic competencies with the competency requirements outlined in the National Curriculum; the challenges faced by graduates and institutions in achieving Arabic proficiency according to national standards; and the strategies that can be adopted to improve these outcomes. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to portray the Arabic language competencies of Madrasah Aliyah graduates based on the National Curriculum. Primary data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, while secondary data were obtained from curriculum documents and related literature. The analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman model, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, ensuring structured and comprehensive findings. The study also provides a contextual overview of the Arabic learning process in Madrasah Aliyah. The results reveal that the Arabic language competence of Madrasah Aliyah graduates remains at a moderate level and has not yet met the standards of the National Curriculum, particularly in productive skills. The dominance of rote-based learning, limited communicative practice, lack of authentic media, and minimal exposure to Arabic in the learning environment are key factors contributing to the low achievement. Therefore, improving graduates' proficiency requires strengthening teacher competencies, implementing communicative methods, utilizing authentic media, and creating a consistent Arabic-language environment.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the planning and implementation processes of the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) approach in Arabic language instruction at Madrasah Aliyah (MA), as well as to identify the challenges that arise from the perspectives of teachers, students, and the learning environment. The research focuses on analyzing the three main stages of TBLT: the Pre-Task phase, the Task Cycle, and the Language Focus. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, utilizing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, and were validated through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that TBLT is effective in improving students’ speaking skills, language fluency, motivation, and engagement when tasks are designed to be authentic and relevant to students’ lives. Teachers are able to facilitate communicative interaction through group work, negotiation of meaning, and scaffolding. However, the implementation still faces several obstacles, including teachers’ limited understanding of TBLT, difficulties in designing authentic tasks, students’ limited vocabulary, and insufficient learning facilities. The effectiveness of TBLT greatly depends on teacher readiness, institutional support, and the quality of task design; therefore, training and the provision of contextual learning resources are necessary.

Abstract

This study aims to deeply explore various factors that influence the process of Arabic language teachers in designing Lesson Plans (RPP) at Madrasah Aliyah. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research provides an in-depth depiction of the challenges faced by Arabic teachers in preparing lesson plans. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, supported by curriculum documents and relevant regulations. The analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model through iterative stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings present a holistic picture of the dynamics of instructional planning and reveal that teachers face complex challenges, including diverse student abilities, administrative workload, limited time, and technical constraints related to digital tools. These difficulties affect their ability to formulate objectives, select materials, choose appropriate methods and media, and develop effective assessments. Teachers respond to curriculum demands in varied ways some view them as flexible guidelines, while others perceive them as administrative burdens. Limited resources, heavy workloads, and insufficient training further exacerbate these challenges. To address them, teachers adopt adaptive strategies such as utilizing teacher working groups (MGMP), simplifying lesson plans, using simple digital platforms, and engaging in collaboration. The institutional context of the madrasah also shapes the quality of planning, making institutional support essential.
