Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) significantly impacts pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, altering drug metabolism and excretion, thus increasing the risk of drug toxicity. CKD patients are more susceptible to infections, which contribute to significant morbidity and mortality. This underscores the importance of appropriate antimicrobials used in this population. This literature review explores recent findings on medication prescribing practices, dose adjustments, and factors affecting appropriateness, especially in antibiotic use for CKD patients. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using six databases to identify studies published from 2015 to 2024. Twenty-six studies were included. This literature review found that prevalence of inappropriate prescriptions in CKD patients ranges widely between 10% to 77.1% and from 30% to 34,9% specifically for antibiotic, with higher rates observed in outpatient settings compared to hospital environments. Antibiotics, antidiabetic agents, antihypertensive, nutraceuticals, and electrolytes are frequently inappropriately prescribed. Factors influencing inappropriate prescription include comorbidity, severity level of kidney disorder, age, and polypharmacy. The antibiotics most commonly prescribed inappropriately include cefazolin, meropenem, oral sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim, nebulised colistin, vancomycin, and piperacillin-tazobactam. This study emphasizes the mixed and limited evidence regarding the clinical outcomes of antibiotics dose adjustments in CKD patients. While some studies suggest that antibiotics dose adjustments improve therapeutic outcomes and reduce adverse events, others show no significant impact. Further research is needed to understand the impact of this intervention, as these outcomes may be influenced by various factors. Enhanced education and collaboration between healthcare providers are critical to improving the accuracy of antibiotic prescriptions and ensuring patient safety in CKD management.

Abstract

Energy demand in Indonesia continues to increase, in line with the government's efforts to balance economic and population growth. In this context, the government-designed electricity supply policy prioritizes the use of coal as the main source of energy until 2050. Power plants face challenges in asset management, particularly in the replacement and maintenance of equipment such as condensers. This study aims to determine the economic life of condensers in Steam Power Plants (PLTU) with a capacity of 300 MW, as well as analyze the life cycle costs using the Simple Life Cycle Cost Management (LCCM) method. This method considers direct and indirect costs in decision-making related to equipment maintenance and replacement. The study also identified factors that affect the operational efficiency of the condenser, including backpressure and operational conditions. The results of the analysis show that careful monitoring and evaluation of the economic life of the condenser can optimize operating costs and improve the energy efficiency of the generation system. This study provides strategic recommendations for asset management in power generation, prioritizing a holistic approach in decision-making related to equipment maintenance and replacement. Thus, this research is expected to contribute to the development of more efficient energy policies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of tax planning and the implementation of the Core Tax Administration System (CTAS) on taxpayer compliance. While tax planning is considered a legitimate effort to minimize tax liabilities, the results indicate that tax planning does not have a significant direct effect on taxpayer compliance. Conversely, the implementation of CTAS, driven by the digitization of the tax administration system, plays a significant role in enhancing taxpayer compliance by automating processes and providing easier access for taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations. Path regression analysis reveals that the combination of tax planning and CTAS implementation simultaneously has a positive impact on taxpayer compliance. These findings emphasize the importance of developing an integrated tax system that can optimize state revenue while facilitating taxpayers in fulfilling their obligations. This study recommends that the government continues to advance tax digitization to strengthen taxpayer compliance.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of perceive regulation readiness and collaboration on business model innovation and business performance in the Internet of Things (IoT) Companies. With IoT’s rapid growth, companies face the challenge of continually adapting their business models to evolving customer needs and regulatory frameworks. Drawing on contingency theory, the study emphasizes that no single strategy fits all organizations and that constant innovation is essential for sustainable success. Data was collected from 75 IoT companies in Indonesia, analyzed using SmartPLS to assess relationships among the variables. Findings reveal that regulatory readiness positively influences collaboration, which in turn significantly enhances business model innovation. Business model innovation is shown to directly impact business performance, highlighting its critical role in achieving competitive advantage. However, the study finds no significant moderating effects of regulatory readiness or collaboration on the relationship between business model innovation and performance, suggesting that these factors act independently rather than as moderators. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of IoT security standards, particularly in balancing technical and non-technical considerations such as data privacy. The findings provide insights into the strategic importance of adaptable business models and the need for regulatory frameworks to support IoT innovation effectively.

Abstract

Red palm oil (RPO) comes from the mesocarp of the palm fruit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) which is rich in carotenoids, vitamin E, and fatty acids. The use of RPO in pharmaceutical formulations poses challenges related to stability, oxidation susceptibility, and consumer acceptance due to its distinctive aroma and taste. To address these limitations, a variety of innovative formulation strategies, including emulsification, nanoemulsification, microencapsulation, and lipid-based systems have been researched. The RPO formulation aims to improve stability, bioavailability, and enhance therapeutic effects. Manufacturing techniques such as high-pressure homogenization, spray drying, and encapsulation of supercritical fluids have stabilized the bioactive components of RPO, minimizing oxidation, and controlling continuous release. Nanoemulsions and lipid nanoparticles have shown results in a wide range of applications from topical antioxidants to systemic drug delivery, by utilizing the synergistic effects of the lipophilic properties of RPO with other active ingredients. In addition, encapsulation technology has improved the stability of RPO storage, thereby expanding its usefulness in nutraceuticals and multivitamin supplements. This article also aims to bridge the research gap related to RPO formulation and provide insights into optimizing RPO formulations for broader benefits in health and disease management. The use of RPO in the future perspective is focused on nanotechnology formulations to improve solubility, stability, bioavailability, and support targeted and controlled drug delivery.
