Abstract

This paper presents a critical analysis of Neo-Gramscianism, a theoretical framework rooted in the works of Antonio Gramsci, especially regarding its understanding of hegemony. While Neo-Gramscianism offers valuable insights, this study seeks to unveil its inherent limitations. Departing from the question of, “Do the concepts provided by Neo-Gramscian about Hegemony solve the problem of marginalized communities?” and using Frankfurt School’s critical theory as the analytical framework, the analysis highlights several key flaws. Firstly, the epistemological failure it reflects, the overemphasis on two-way hegemony or by consent has overlooked a significant factor, which is the inevitable resistance of subaltern class. This paper concludes that the promised two-way hegemony initiated by Robert Cox fails to solve the problem of marginalized communities, since it is inherently not a Critical Theory, by its utilization of power relations, top-down approach, and most importantly, centralization of power.

Abstract

Occupational safety problems in Indonesia are still neglected, causing a high number of work accidents. One of the factors causing the accident is the lack of knowledge, utilization and supervision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Efforts to overcome these problems are by developing information systems, especially mobile-based applications called Keselamatan Konstruksi applications. This study aims to examine the factors that affect the acceptance and use of this information system using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) model. These factors include the influence of perception of ease of use, perception of utility, attitude of use, behavior to continue using and the level of user understanding on the successful implementation of the Keselamatan Konstruksi application. The data for this study was collected through a questionnaire given to construction workers who used the Keselamatan Konstruksi application. The data that has been collected is then analyzed for multiple linear regression. The findings in this study reveal that the attitude of use in using the application and the influence to continue using the application have a positive effect on the successful implementation of the Keselamatan Konstruksi application.

Abstract

Neo-vernacular architecture is a postmodern architectural style that is a combination of two different concepts, namely modern and vernacular architecture to express a more contemporary vernacular architecture. Recreational commercial buildings are buildings used for business or recreational commercial activities that are usually uniquely designed to be attractive and comfortable for visitors who apply the expression of neo-vernacular architectural concepts in their design. This research aims to find out the character of neo-vernacular architecture in recreational commercial buildings and how it is applied so that it can be used as a reference for the community or the government in designing recreational commercial buildings with this concept. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method that is expected to describe the character of neo-vernacular architecture and its application to buildings. The research locations include the Semarang-Surabaya toll road, namely Pendopo kilometers four, five, six, Salatiga, ono joglo and Jepara resorts, as well as the Asasuka Japan Tourist Information Center. The analysis in this study uses neo-vernacular architectural theory. The results of this study conclude that the expression of the neo-vernacular architectural concept in the three case studies of recreational commercial buildings appears to be very strong in the design of the roof shape that adopts local icons (vernacular) of ridge roof types such as joglo, limasan, saddle, baked pe.

Abstract

Heart failure is a clinical syndrome characterized by symptoms and signs caused by a structural and/or functional impairment of the heart. Sepsis in heart failure may cause significant mortality and morbidity rates. Clinically, the presence of heart dysfunction in heart failure worsens outcomes in unstable hemodynamic conditions, for instance, in cases of sepsis, particularly in patients with HFrEF. This research aims to survey the blend of heart failure and sepsis and current updates regarding using the International Normalized Ratio (INR) to detect sepsis. Information was collected from various sources, and updated literature was compiled into a review article. The presence of heart failure with sepsis is associated with horrible clinical results. If fluid alone is insufficient to restore perfusion, the fundamental structure of sepsis includes strong fluid recovery followed by vasopressor association (and possibly inotropic support). In any case, in patients with heart failure, high-portion fluid boluses and vasoactive experts might deteriorate the condition. Heart failure and sepsis can overlap and lead to hemodynamic disturbances and challenging treatment. Meanwhile, aggressive fluid resuscitation is necessary for sepsis; conventional heart failure management requires reducing fluid intake. The International Normalized Ratio (INR) is one of the coagulation parameters that may help determine sepsis in patients with heart failure, thus improving appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract

Surgical site infections are infections that occur within 30 days of a surgical procedure, including infections in the post-sectio caesarea area that are common and can cause significant morbidity. This study aims to comprehensively identify and analyze the risk factors associated with post-sectio caesarea infection. The method used was a literature review with a PEO framework (Population: post-sectio caesarean section; Exposure: associated risk factors; Result: incidence of infection). Article searches were carried out systematically in official databases such as Google Scholar, Pubmed, Science Direct, and Scopus with the keywords "risk factors" AND "surgical site infections" AND "sectio caesarea", published 2018-2023. The results of the study found eight articles that showed risk factors for post-cesarean section infection, including: the number of vaginal examinations ≥ 5 times, rupture of the amniotic sac ≥ 12 hours, chorioamnionitis, long duration of labor (≥12 hours and ≥ 24 hours), estimated intraoperative blood loss of 500 to ≥ 1000 cc, intraoperative blood transfusion, emergency sectio caesarean section, operative duration of more than 1 hour,  previous history of cesarean section, obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and anemia. Understanding and managing infection risk factors effectively is expected to reduce the infection rate in the surgical area, and infection prevention can be done by implementing treatment packages.

Abstract

Exercise-Induced Asthma (EIA), also known as exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB), is a condition in which the airways become blocked after exercise. Although exercise can cause asthma attacks, a lack of exercise can make asthma worse. Apart from taking medication, exercise can help control asthma attacks, and help improve the quality of life of the asthmatic population. Exercise can be done by people with mild to moderate degrees of airway obstruction, just like healthy people. Swimming, walking, cycling, playing ball and aerobics are good sports for asthma patients. Exercise-Induced Asthma (EIA) can also prevent asthma patients from exercising and affect their quality of life. The diagnosis of EIA is based on symptoms and spirometry or bronchial provocation tests. Nonpharmacological approaches, including avoidance of precipitating factors, are essential. SABA before exercise is also widely used and recommended as first-line therapy. Inhaled corticosteroids are recommended when asthma control is less than optimal. Leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRA) and mast cell stabilizing agents (MCSA) are potential options.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a democratic country, has seen a decline in political participation from its citizens in recent years. Stand-up comedy, as a medium of social criticism, holds significant potential to voice political issues in a light yet meaningful manner. This study analyzes how Pandji Pragiwaksono operates the power of knowledge through his stand-up comedy performance titled "Mulut Pandji Mata Najwa." Using Theo Van Leeuwen’s social semiotics theory, this research identifies four key dimensions: discourse, genre, style, and modality. The analysis focuses on how Pandji utilizes discourse to deliver social criticism, the stand-up comedy genre to convey complex messages in an entertaining way, and verbal and non-verbal communication styles. Additionally, the modality applied by Pandji strengthens the message delivery, encouraging the audience to reflect on political and social issues. This approach helps understand how power and knowledge are communicated through popular culture in Indonesia
