Abstract

The coal mining industry significantly contributes to Indonesia’s economic development, yet it continues to face complex challenges in achieving sustainability from environmental, social, and governance (ESG) perspectives. This research investigates the influence of business strategy and good corporate governance (GCG) on corporate sustainability performance (CSP) among coal mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This study uses a quantitative research design to draw on secondary data from company annual reports, sustainability reports, and GCG disclosures published on the IDX official website. The analysis employs multiple linear regression to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicate that both business strategy and good corporate governance significantly positively affect the sustainability performance of the coal mining sector. These results suggest that aligning strategic business orientation with ESG principles and reinforcing governance structures are crucial for achieving sustainable performance. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the integration of sustainability practices within corporate strategy, and it emphasizes the importance of transparent governance in resource-intensive industries. The implications of this research are relevant for corporate leaders, policymakers, and sustainability advocates seeking to advance responsible business practices in the extractive industry.

Abstract

The rapid growth of Bali’s culinary industry, particularly in Gianyar’s zoo restaurants, underscores the need to understand how servicescape dimensions influence customer satisfaction and WOM. Despite existing studies on servicescape, limited research addresses zoo-based dining contexts. This study analyzes (1) the impact of servicescape on satisfaction and WOM, (2) satisfaction’s mediating role, and (3) the most influential servicescape dimensions. A quantitative survey of 30 respondents from four zoo restaurants in Gianyar was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via AMOS. Servicescape significantly boosts satisfaction (path coefficient: 0.492) and WOM (0.302), with satisfaction partially mediating this relationship (Sobel test: 4.1697, *p* < 0.05). Signs/symbols/artifacts had the strongest influence, while ambient conditions were the least impactful. The findings guide zoo restaurants in prioritizing thematic design and functionality to enhance satisfaction and WOM, offering novel insights for niche hospitality settings.

Abstract

Food safety is a critical concern for modern consumers, influencing purchasing decisions globally. This study examines how food safety perceptions shape consumer buying interest in Indonesia, addressing gaps in localized, qualitative insights. Using a phenomenological approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with eight respondents from diverse demographics (students, employees, managers, and business owners) to explore their priorities (safety, price, taste, nutrition) and safety-assessment behaviors (e.g., checking expiry dates, seller cleanliness). Findings reveal that personal health experiences (e.g., food poisoning, chronic conditions) and demographic factors (age, income) significantly influence safety prioritization, with older or health-affected consumers valuing safety most. Key determinants of trust include seller reputation, product physical condition, and hygiene standards. The study highlights practical implications for businesses: enhancing transparency, innovating health-centric products, and maintaining rigorous hygiene to align with consumer expectations. By contextualizing global frameworks within Indonesia’s market, this research offers novel insights for policymakers and marketers to tailor strategies that address localized safety concerns and foster consumer trust.

Abstract

This research examines the limitations of Indonesia's defense strategy, focusing on the Indonesian Army Aviation Corps (Puspenerbad) and its underutilized potential in national defense. Despite the Indonesian National Army's critical role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, the current defense policies are fragmented and primarily emphasize core defense components, leaving aviation support functions insufficiently integrated. The study uses a qualitative approach, gathering data from journals, books, and official documents to analyze Puspenerbad’s five key functions: combat intelligence, maneuver, fire support, protection, and logistical assistance. The findings suggest that optimizing these functions could significantly enhance Indonesia's defense capabilities in addressing both military and non-military threats. The research highlights the need for a more comprehensive defense strategy, proposing that an improved aviation corps could strengthen national security by better integrating aviation support into the broader defense framework. This study offers valuable insights for policymakers and military planners, aiming to improve operational effectiveness and better prepare Indonesia for emerging security challenges

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of poor sleep quality on the incidence and severity of hypertension, drawing from a systematic review of scientific articles published between 2019 and 2024. The review synthesizes findings from various studies sourced from PubMed and Google Scholar using the keywords "Hypertension and Sleep Quality." The results indicate a strong relationship between poor sleep quality and increased blood pressure, particularly in individuals with pre-existing hypertension. Data from 12 core articles highlight that disrupted sleep patterns, including inadequate sleep duration and sleep disturbances, exacerbate hypertension by impairing autonomic nervous system function and increasing cortisol levels. The findings emphasize the need for improving sleep quality as part of hypertension management. This research calls for healthcare systems to integrate sleep quality interventions into hypertension treatment plans to improve outcomes. Future research should focus on exploring the physiological mechanisms linking poor sleep quality with hypertension and the effectiveness of combined interventions, including sleep hygiene education and pharmacological treatments. The study also suggests that targeted interventions considering demographic factors like age and comorbidities may offer more personalized approaches to managing hypertension.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of religious tourism on the local communities' economy surrounding three key religious tourism sites in Tuban, East Java: the Sunan Bonang Tomb, Asmoro Qondi Tomb, and Kwan Sing Bio Temple. The main issue addressed is the underutilization of religious tourism's economic potential in these areas, where micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) still struggle to innovate and grow. The research evaluates how religious tourism contributes to local economic development through increased income, job creation, business innovation, and infrastructure improvements. Employing a qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and focus group discussions, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model alongside SPSS-assisted regression analysis. The findings indicate that religious tourism significantly boosts the local economy, especially by encouraging entrepreneurship and improving the performance of MSMEs. However, challenges such as unequal benefit distribution and environmental management persist. The implications of this research emphasize the need for stakeholders to engage in strategic planning to enhance community participation, infrastructure, and innovation, thereby ensuring that religious tourism not only preserves cultural heritage but also becomes a sustainable driver of inclusive economic growth in the region.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between market sentiment, trading volume, and stock volatility on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) using the Vector Autoregression (VAR) model. The research addresses the complexity of these interdependent variables and their impact on market dynamics, aiming to provide insights for investors, regulators, and policymakers. The objective was to evaluate how changes in market sentiment affect trading volume and stock volatility and how these variables interact over time. The VAR model was applied to daily and weekly data on market sentiment, trading volume, and stock volatility from IDX. Results indicate that positive sentiment generally increases trading volume and stock volatility, while negative sentiment tends to reduce trading activity and escalate volatility. The findings also highlight the significant role of market liquidity, as trading volume impacts volatility by improving market stability. This study underscores the importance of sentiment analysis in investment strategies and market regulation, suggesting that maintaining market liquidity and stabilizing sentiment can enhance market efficiency and stability. The implications of these results are critical for improving risk management and informing investment decisions in the Indonesian capital market.

Abstract

Although previous research has examined the general impact of nomophobia—anxiety experienced when without a mobile phone—on student populations, limited studies have specifically addressed how this condition manifests among individuals with extroverted personalities. This study aims to fill that gap by descriptive analysis of nomophobia tendencies in college students who identify as extroverts. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through purposive sampling from 148 students aged 18–25 years. The findings revealed that 127 out of 148 extroverted students demonstrated a notable tendency toward nomophobia. These results highlight the significant vulnerability of extroverted individuals to mobile phone dependence, likely due to their high need for social interaction. The study contributes to psychological research by underscoring the intersection between personality traits and technology-related anxiety. Practically, the findings offer valuable insight for mental health professionals and educators to develop targeted interventions for reducing nomophobia in extroverted student populations.

Abstract

This study explores the concepts of Sunnah and Bid'ah in Islamic thought, highlighting their theological significance and practical implications in Muslim life. The Sunnah encompasses the sayings, actions, and tacit approvals of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, serving as a complementary guide to the Qur'an in matters of worship, daily conduct, and social interactions. Conversely, Bid'ah refers to innovations in religious practices that lack a foundational basis in the Qur'an or Sunnah. This paper aims to provide a nuanced understanding of Bid'ah, including its classifications—Bid'ah Hasanah (commendable innovation) and Bid'ah Sayyiah (blameworthy innovation)—as interpreted by classical and contemporary Islamic scholars. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and textual analysis of Islamic sources, this research critically examines the perspectives on the permissibility and consequences of religious innovations in domains such as worship, education, and governance. The findings suggest that while innovation in secular matters may be acceptable, innovation in ritual worship requires scrutiny. The paper underscores the necessity of preserving the integrity of Islamic teachings by adhering to the Prophet’s traditions and being cautious of unauthorized religious practices. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic jurisprudence by reinforcing the balance between tradition and contextual understanding in addressing contemporary challenges.
