Abstract

One of the key factors supporting a mother's success in fulfilling her maternal role is maternal self-efficacy, which refers to a mother's confidence in her ability to care for her child effectively. This research examines maternal self-efficacy in mothers raising children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study aims to analyze the factors influencing maternal self-efficacy in this context. A phenomenological approach was used, employing Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The study involved two mothers of children with ASD, with data collected through structured telephone interviews. The findings revealed that both mothers demonstrated strong maternal self-efficacy, shaped by five main factors: emotional state, appropriate parenting strategies, specialized teaching methods, provision of protection and security, and quality time spent with their children. Support from family members was also crucial in enhancing maternal confidence. Despite initial emotional difficulties, the mothers developed resilience and adaptive strategies to address their children's needs. This research highlights the importance of emotional regulation and social support in fostering maternal self-efficacy, which is essential for positive maternal and child health outcomes. The study’s insights can inform interventions aimed at empowering mothers of children with ASD, ultimately improving both parenting effectiveness and child development. Further research with more diverse participants is recommended to broaden the understanding of maternal self-efficacy in families affected by ASD. In conclusion, both participants in this study exhibited strong maternal self-efficacy in carrying out their roles as mothers.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of international tourist visits on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in Indonesia's tourism sector using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method with time series data from 1997-2022. The results show that an increase in tourist visitation significantly contributes to CO2 emissions with a coefficient of 746.57 kilotons per person. Economic growth, number of vehicles, and fossil energy use also positively and significantly affect emissions. A 1% increase in economic growth raises emissions by 64.60 kilotons, an increase of one unit in the number of vehicles raises emissions by 9,953.66 kilotons, and fossil energy use raises emissions by 902,884.7 kilotons per kWh. In contrast, renewable energy and population size do not significantly affect CO2 emissions. Tourist transportation, particularly international flights, is a major contributor to carbon emissions. The adoption of renewable energy is still limited, making it ineffective in reducing emissions. This study highlights the importance of developing environmentally friendly tourism by strengthening the use of renewable energy and eco-friendly transportation infrastructure.

Abstract

The construction of green smelters based on the need for nickel-based vehicles that continue to increase every year is a significant threat to the global environment, especially the increase in greenhouse gas emissions. To overcome this, Indonesia needs to intensify its sustainability level in all construction projects, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 target to achieve 100% new buildings based on green concepts. This study uses the concept of BREEAM-based green building with Zero Energy Building (ZEB) and analyzes data with Structural Equation Modelling – Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results of the study show that green ratings can increase project costs between 7.66% and 17.91% from conventional prices. The study identified ten factors that affect the cost performance of green scale projects, including energy efficiency and emission reduction, indoor air quality, and water use efficiency. The implementation of the BREEAM concept with the ZEB method provides cost efficiency based on the certification levels achieved, ranging from PASS to OUTSTANDING, which shows potential cost savings from 4.67% to 7.96%.

Abstract

The increase in energy demand in the industrial era 4.0 has encouraged the transition to renewable energy, but Indonesia's dependence on coal is still high. One of the promising decarbonization strategies is high co-firing technology, which is the mixing of biomass (such as woodchips) with coal in coal-fired power plant boilers. Previous studies have generally focused on the emission and combustion efficiency aspects without delving deeply into the fluid flow characteristics in the furnace. Therefore, this study aims to numerically analyze the characteristics of fluid flow in the combustion process of coal and woodchips mixture in the Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler of PLTU UP Sebalang. The methods used are Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation with Eulerian multiphase model, k-ε turbulence model, and discrete phase for coal particle injection. Simulations were carried out for three fuel variations: 100% coal, 90% coal + 10% woodchips, and 80% coal + 20% woodchips. The results showed that an increase in the proportion of woodchips lowered the average temperature in the furnace from 945°C to 810°C and caused the heat distribution to be uneven. The pressure distribution also decreases as the woodchips fraction increases, with the negative pressure at the cyclone outlet increasing from -310 Pa to -401 Pa. Validation of the simulation results against the field data showed an average deviation of between 2–9%, still within the tolerance limit, although affected by the imperfections of the measuring tool and the limitations of the model on the effects of induced fan drafts.

Abstract

XYZ Orthopaedic Hospital in Jakarta faces declining patient acquisition and challenges in converting clinic visits into elective surgeries, which are its primary revenue streams. This study explores the effects of social media marketing and price perception as one of the antecedents to hospital brand image and their impact on hospital choice intention, with health literacy as moderating variables. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 134 respondents recruited from outpatient clinics at XYZ Orthopaedic Hospital. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analysed through Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Variables measured included Word of Mouth (WoM), Hospital Social Media, Patient Review, Hospital Advertisement, Price Perception, Surgeon Reputation, Hospital Brand Image, Health Literacy, and Hospital Choice Intention. Word of Mouth, Surgeon Reputation, and Price Perception have significant impact toward Hospital Brand Image while Hospital brand image itself does not have an impact towards Hospital Choice Intention unlike Surgeon Reputation (R= 0.440, p<0.05). The Overall model has an R2 of 0.690. Importance Performance Map Analysis shows that without Hospital Brand Image, Price Perception of this hospital needs significant improvement and very important, but when accounts for the hospital brand image, the price perception becomes less important. Enhancing word of mouth, price competitiveness and emphasizing surgeon reputation are critical for improving hospital brand image. With a stronger hospital brand image, one can price more freely towards patients.
