Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Kahoot!, a game-based learning platform, in improving junior high school students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics. A quasi-experimental method was applied involving two eighth-grade classes at SMP Negeri 2 Teras: one as the experimental group using Kahoot and the other as the control group receiving conventional instruction. Data were gathered through pretests, posttests, questionnaires, and observations. The t-test analysis revealed a significant difference in student performance (t_count = 2,4132 > t_table = 2.0086 at α = 0.05), with the experimental group achieving a moderate N-Gain of 0.56. These findings demonstrate that Kahoot fosters student engagement, encourages real-time feedback, and supports varied learning styles, contributing to enhanced conceptual understanding. The integration of Kahoot in mathematics instruction, particularly on abstract topics like statistics, is shown to create a more interactive and student-centered learning environment. Educators are encouraged to incorporate technology-enhanced tools such as Kahoot to support active and meaningful learning processes.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of macroeconomic variables and financial performance on stock returns in Indonesia’s coal industry over the period Q1 2015 to Q4 2024. Amid global uncertainty and the prolonged energy transition, coal remains a critical contributor to Indonesia’s economy and capital market. However, the sector faces increasing volatility and policy risk. Through panel data regression analysis, this study evaluates the effects of inflation, exchange rate, and coal price as macroeconomic indicators, along with financial performance variables including Gross Profit Margin (GPM), Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Current Ratio (CR), Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Price to Book Value (PBV), and Price to Earnings Growth (PEG) on stock returns. The findings reveal that coal prices and financial performance indicators such as ROA, ROE, and PBV have a significant positive effect on stock returns, while inflation and exchange rate demonstrate mixed or insignificant impacts. The research confirms that strong internal performance and favorable external commodity conditions are key drivers of investor interest and stock valuation. This study provides valuable insights for investors, corporate managers, and policymakers in understanding the dynamics of the coal sector in Indonesia's capital market.

Abstract

Indonesia’s national health insurance program (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional/JKN), managed by BPJS Kesehatan, has achieved near-universal coverage with over 276 million participants as of 2024, representing 98.19% of the population. Despite this quantitative success, qualitative challenges persist in achieving satisfactory healthcare experiences, particularly in hospitals primarily serving BPJS patients. Common concerns include long waiting times, complex administrative procedures, service disparities compared to private-pay patients, and limited access to specialists. This study investigates how customer expectations, patient experience, and perceived value influence patient satisfaction among BPJS participants at RS Indriati Solo Baru. It also examines trust as a mediating variable and social media usage as a moderating factor. Using a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling (SmartPLS), data from 340 BPJS patients were analyzed. Findings reveal that customer expectations significantly affect both experience and satisfaction, while patient experience positively influences trust and satisfaction. Perceived value has a strong impact on trust and satisfaction, and trust mediates the relationship between experience and satisfaction. Social media usage directly affects satisfaction, though its moderating role is unsupported. These results validate Expectation Confirmation Theory, SERVQUAL, and trust-based frameworks within Indonesia’s health insurance system, offering insights for enhancing service quality, digital engagement, and patient-centered care.

Abstract

This study aims to identify key success factors (Critical Success Factors (CSF) at the stage of preparing the Government-Business Cooperation (PPP) project in the water resources sector in Indonesia, by integrating a sustainability perspective. The problems raised are the low effectiveness of PPP project preparation which results in delays in implementation, as well as the lack of studies that adopt a sustainability approach and involve a multi-stakeholder perspective. This research uses a qualitative approach through a case study on the Komering Irrigation Area PPP Project. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with seven informants from the public, private, and public sectors, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results of the study identified 19 CSF indicators grouped into six main categories: economic and financial viability, balance of risk allocation, policy and regulation, institutional and managerial capacity, stakeholder engagement and support, and technical scope. The majority of CSFs found are closely related to the economic and social dimensions of sustainability. These findings demonstrate the importance of a tripartite approach and the Triple Bottom Line principle in designing PPP project preparation strategies that are adaptive to sustainability challenges. This research makes a theoretical and practical contribution to the development of sustainable PPP, although it is limited to the actors directly involved in the project. Follow-up studies are suggested to expand the scope of actors and contexts to make the results more comprehensive and applicative.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of employer branding on attracting and retaining Generation Z talent in Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas industry within the context of Vision 2030. As Saudi Arabia diversifies its economy away from oil dependence, emerging sectors supported by Vision 2030—such as renewable energy, tourism, and electric vehicles—pose competitive threats to traditional oil and gas companies in attracting young talent. Using a quantitative approach with 100 respondents from Generation Z in Saudi Arabia, this research employs multiple regression analysis to identify which employer branding dimensions most significantly influence Generation Z’s intention to apply and employee retention in the oil and gas sector. The study measures four independent variables: Employee Growth Need Strength, Psychological Contract, Perception of Organizational Support, and Organizational Identification, against two dependent variables: Intention to Apply and Employee Retention. Results reveal that Psychological Contract (β = 0.399, p < 0.001 for intention to apply; β = 0.461, p < 0.001 for retention) and Organizational Identification (β = 0.307, p = 0.001 for intention to apply; β = 0.270, p = 0.001 for retention) are the most significant factors influencing both outcomes. The findings suggest that oil and gas companies should prioritize transparent career development programs, competitive compensation packages, work-life balance initiatives, and strong organizational identity to attract and retain Generation Z talent. This research contributes practical insights for human resource strategies in the oil and gas sector during Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation.

Abstract

This study examines the juridical implications of amending Law No. 13 of 2003 to Law No. 6 of 2023 (Job Creation Law) on termination of employment in Indonesia. As a rechtsstaat country, Indonesia prioritizes the protection of constitutional rights, including workers' rights. However, the Job Creation Law has raised concerns regarding potential violations of workers' constitutional rights, particularly in termination of employment provisions. Using a normative juridical method with statutory, conceptual, and analytical approaches, this research analyzes problematic articles in the Job Creation Law that may contradict constitutional principles. The study finds that several provisions, including those on wages, working hours, employment contracts, and severance pay, have reduced workers' protections compared to the previous labor law. These changes potentially violate constitutional guarantees under Article 27(2) and Article 28D(2) of the 1945 Constitution. The research concludes that the Job Creation Law requires comprehensive evaluation and revision to ensure alignment with constitutional principles and adequate protection of workers' rights. This study contributes to the discourse on labor law reform and provides policy recommendations for strengthening constitutional protections in employment relations.

Abstract

Body image concerns represent a significant mental health challenge among contemporary adolescent populations, particularly for girls navigating developmental transitions and sociocultural pressures related to physical appearance. The increasing prevalence of body dissatisfaction among youth has been associated with various psychological difficulties, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and diminished self-esteem, underscoring the urgency of understanding the factors that shape body image perceptions during this critical developmental period. This study aims to determine the extent to which self-esteem and social comparison can predict body image in adolescent girls. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational design. The subjects consisted of 100 female adolescents aged 16–21 years, located in Yogyakarta. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires, namely the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), the Iowa–Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM), and the Positive Body Image Adolescent Scale (PBIAS), all of which were adapted into Indonesian. Reliability testing used Cronbach’s Alpha, producing reliability coefficient values of 0.875, 0.857, and 0.950, respectively. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS version 26. The results showed that the hypothesis was accepted, with R = 0.642, R² = 0.412, and a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Therefore, self-esteem and social comparison have a positive and significant effect on body image in adolescent girls. This indicates that self-esteem and social comparison can predict body image in teenage girls by 41.2%, while other factors account for the remaining 58.8%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Enterprise Risk Management and financial ratios, including liquidity, leverage, and profitability, on the potential for financial distress and its impact on firm value in pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This research uses a quantitative approach, involving data collection and statistical analysis to investigate phenomena and test the relationships between variables in a structured manner, focusing on Enterprise Risk Management, financial ratios, financial health, and firm value. The population of this study consists of 12 (twelve) pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2016–2023. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, comprising 10 (ten) pharmaceutical companies that consistently published their annual and financial reports during the period 2016–2023. Data were collected through documentation and non-participatory observation methods. The secondary data used in this study were obtained from published audited financial and annual reports. The statistical analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with Smart Partial Least Squares (PLS), operated through Smart PLS software version 4.1.0.9. The results indicate that Enterprise Risk Management, leverage, and financial distress have a positive and significant effect on firm value. On the other hand, liquidity has a negative and significant effect, while profitability shows a negative but insignificant effect on firm value. Additional findings related to financial distress show that liquidity and profitability have a positive and significant effect on financial distress as proxied by the Z-Score, where a higher Z-Score indicates a lower potential for financial distress.

Abstract

The Korean Wave (Hallyu) gave rise to perception as a result of the cultural policies carried out by the South Korean government. Therefore, this comparative research aims to explore which cultural policies have been implemented by the South Korean government to be compared with those in Indonesia. As a lesson, this study seeks to answer questions about cultural policy factors, as well as the similarities and differences in cultural policies adopted by the two countries. As a comparative study, the approach used is not very complex; it simply juxtaposes cultural policies according to the chronological sequence of government administrations in both countries. The results are quite astonishing—Indonesia is lagging behind in developing its cultural planning; South Korea has been advancing since the 1970s, while Indonesia has just completed its Master Plan for the Advancement of Culture (2024) for the period 2025–2045. Another important finding is that Hallyu's success, achieved without deliberate strategic planning, is supported by the formation of a cultural ecosystem that has been consistently maintained since 1973. From Korea’s cultural policy perspective, at least the government’s support for cultural exports remains very high. The five main factors of cultural policy that are key to the emergence of the global Hallyu trend include the increasing competitiveness of Korean popular culture, the democratization and liberalization of culture, which facilitates widespread public access. Cultural liberalization has also led to the emergence of cultural entrepreneurs capable of competing globally within the framework of cultural industrialization.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of fraud prevention in the Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing at the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works using the Three Lines of Defense model. Employing a qualitative ethnomethodological approach, the research explores how actors in each line—the operational units, internal compliance, and internal auditors—perceive and perform their roles in everyday practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with nine informants, representing each line equally. The analysis reveals that formal oversight structures are often interpreted and enacted through informal social norms, with coordination heavily reliant on interpersonal trust and ad hoc communication. The study identifies key challenges, including overlapping responsibilities, limited authority of the second line, and a lack of integrated procedures. Moreover, the findings highlight that the perception of fraud and internal control is shaped by collective social knowledge, which does not always align with institutional policies. This gap between formal frameworks and practical implementation undermines the overall effectiveness of fraud prevention mechanisms. The research suggests that aligning policy and practice requires developing cross-line standard operating procedures, empowering the second line structurally, fostering a culture of risk awareness, and institutionalizing collaborative forums to ensure coherent coordination. These strategies aim to reinforce not only structural integrity but also the social and cultural dimensions of internal oversight.
