Abstract

The development of information and communication technology, especially Virtual Reality (VR), has a significant impact on medical education. Previous research has indicated the effectiveness of VR in enhancing students' understanding. This study focuses on the implementation of VR in practical anatomy and physiology learning in Indonesia, aiming to investigate its effects on students' interest, enthusiasm, and understanding. The research adopts a quantitative descriptive approach with total sampling involving 51 respondents, first-semester students of the Applied Physiotherapy Bachelor's Program at Poltekkes Kemenkes Jakarta III. Research instruments include questionnaires, observation sheets via Google Form, and documentation. Data are analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with chi-square tests, and multivariate analysis with multiple linear regression. The study reveals a significant relationship between interest and enthusiasm in using VR and the understanding of anatomy and human physiology learning. Interest and enthusiasm in learning with VR positively contribute to students' understanding. Based on the research findings, the use of VR in anatomy and physiology education at Poltekkes Kemenkes Jakarta III has a positive impact on students' interest, enthusiasm, and understanding. It is recommended to continue integrating VR into teaching, ensuring the availability of adequate devices. The use of VR is not limited to anatomy and physiology subjects but can be expanded to other subjects in the medical education curriculum. This study is expected to provide guidance and new insights in developing effective and innovative teaching methods in the future.

Abstract

The background of this study is to explore the relationship between quadriceps muscle strength and electromyographic muscle activity (EMG Surface), often assumed to correlate in physiological literature. Utilizing Spearman's rho statistical test and involving 53 participants, the study reveals a correlation value of 0.074 and a p-value of 0.600. These results indicate no significant relationship between the two variables. The findings provide important insights into the complexity of the interaction between muscle strength and EMG activity, highlighting the necessity of a holistic approach in muscle physiological research.

Abstract

Smoking behavior is a habit that is often found in everyday life in people in various places and one of the elements that can raise blood cholesterol levels. Nicotine is the main component in cigarettes that plays a role in increasing free fatty acids so that LDL levels become high. Another chemical found in cigarettes, acrolein, can damage HDL, thus disrupting HDL's task in collecting LDL. This study aims to determine the average difference in total cholesterol levels between smokers and non-smokers in private delivery service employees in Bantargebang, Bekasi City. This research method using an unpaired comparative analytic experimental method of 2 groups. The data analysis used is the Independent T test. The results of this study the average total cholesterol levels of each sample group of 25 respondents for smokers and non-smokers were 216.6 mg/dL and 179.2 mg/dL. Smokers who had been smoking for more than 10 years and who smoked between 11 and 21 cigarettes per day had total cholesterol levels above normal. Conclusion in this study found a significant difference in average total cholesterol levels between smokers and non-smokers in private delivery service employees in Bantargebang Bekasi City with a level of significance (α = 5%) (p=0.000). In smokers, nicotine and acrylonitrile are the main components that play a role in the occurrence of lipid disorders in the body.

Abstract

The postpartum period begins with the birth of the baby and placenta. This is when a woman has an additional role as a mother. Changes that occur both physically and psychologically need to be facilitated so that various complications or disorders do not occur. Physical and psychological problems in postpartum mothers still often occur, such as postpartum infections and postpartum blues. This problem can have a big impact and even cause death if not handled properly. It is hoped that the support of the surrounding environment, especially the husband, can ensure the continuity of the postpartum mother's adaptation process, both physical and psychological adaptation, which can run well. The research aimed to determine the effect of a husband's support on the physical and psychological adaptation process of postpartum mothers. The research used a cross-sectional method on 50 postpartum mothers on days 7 to 14. The research instrument used a questionnaire filled out by respondents and observations of the mother's condition. The research results showed that there was a significant relationship between husband's support and physical and psychological adaptation in postpartum mothers, with a p-value <0.05.
