Abstract

The government policies to fully support the G20 sustainability emphasize increased use of renewable energy. The high penetration of wind energy into power systems poses many challenges for energy system operators, primarily due to the unpredictability and variability of wind energy production. Wind power may not be provided, but accurate forecasting of wind speed and power generation helps grid operators reduce the risk of reduced electricity reliability. Accurately predicting wind speeds over 1 to 24 hours based on these conditions is important for predicting potential energy supply. These short-term forecasts are important to support wind power planning, so the required base load supply for the grid is always guaranteed (even if the wind power output fluctuates significantly). This task demonstrates that the relative forecasting performance of a support vector regression (SVR) wind forecasting system can be improved by systematically selecting and combining related input functions that affect wind speed. Shows the results of data collected in Sidrap, Indonesia, during the six months of 2019. This paper explained key methods of wind forecasting, based on the evaluation of wind speeds and wind speed prediction methods. The RMSE from the SVR shows an 8% - 9% improvement on the RMSE of the persistence forecast every 1 hour. Wind speed estimation using a support vector regression approach has the potential for further development, one of which is determining the potential location of wind-based renewable sources and Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) can make more efficient.

Abstract

Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) is a method that is able to solve problems with multi criteria. In the evaluation of the final project guidance process students of applied software engineering technology are intended to identify supporting factors as well as obstacles for students in completing the final project. Used several criteria such as liveliness of guidance, guidance response, how to communicate, mastery of materials, problem solving and report writing. The problem in determining the cause of the hampered completion of the final project is the lack of tools that can help in processing the criteria data. The solution is to utilize the SMART method with multi criteria problem solving as a tool in decision making. With the utilization of this method is expected to provide solutions in evaluating the guidance process so that the results can be accepted by all students objectively. With the decision support system model, it is expected to be able to know the problem factor in completing the final project so as to help in the implementation of the final project in the next period.

Abstract

The maximum channel capacity of a 4G LTE network will be directly correlated to the channel bandwidth that occupies a certain radio frequency on that network. The number of Resource Blocks (RB), subcarriers, and Resource Elements (RE) as channel resources available to serve users concurrently will depend on the bandwidth channel sizes. Mobile service providers in Indonesia provide scalable channel bandwidth LTE 4G networks on a variety of frequency bands, including adjacent and non-adjacent bands. In this study, it was examined how to channel bandwidth, which changes at 10MHz, 15MHz, and 20MHz, affects throughput to give user equipment the best possible performance (UE). This study makes use of actual measurement data from installed and active eNodeB or cells obtained via the drive test approach. According to the test, each channel's maximum throughput varies, however, there is no linear relationship found between channel bandwidth expansion and throughput. The 20MHz channel bandwidth, which is located in the 2300MHz frequency band, has a maximum throughput value of 64666.80 kbps.

Abstract

University timetabling system is a part of a timetabling problem that aims to produce course timetable that meets student needs such as the maximum number of subjects that can be offered, the maximum number of elective subjects that can be offered and the number of subject students can take. In every semester, the timetabling process in UTMSPACE is done manually where there are likely to be a small number of students who will have problems because the subject to be taken is not in the subjects offering list. Additionally, the number of subjects offered is also not optimal and this will result in a loss on UTMSPACE because each subject is offered at a cost. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, the Heuristic-based approach is used to overcome the problems mentioned and speed up the process to generate timetable. Heuristic engines have been developed using PHP language programming. This approach has been successfully tested and implemented using real-time scheduling data at UTMSPACE for Software Engineering course. The results show that Heuristics has successfully solved the problem of producing a timetable without affecting students who want to enroll the subject offered.

Abstract

Disasters frequently strike at any time of day or night, necessitating swift action and close coordination between various agencies. When a disaster response becomes increasingly time-consuming, the Armed Forces are frequently called in to assist. Despite the fact that disaster management is not the primary responsibility of the Armed Forces, however, the Armed Forces are frequently used as disaster response machinery because they have complete equipment, logistics, and personnel. In order to identify the logistics system available in the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), this study was carried out with a particular emphasis on integration and disaster management in the Armed Forces. A qualitative inquiry methodology was used to complete this study. A protocol for conducting interviews was developed and used as a guideline throughout the interview process. Snowball purposeful sampling was used in this study, which included 13 key informants from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. These individuals work in the logistics field and came from all three branches of the military. According to the findings of this study, there are no job specifications and specialisations in disaster management in the MAF. The systematic logistics management implemented by the MAF, on the other hand, has made it easier to coordinate assistance during disasters. In addition, the strength in terms of knowledge, skills and discipline portrayed by the MAF personnel showed a very high commitment to achieving disaster management objectives. This advantage is widely regarded as the most important factor in ensuring that disaster response is carried out effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

EFL pronunciation learning is known to be teacher-centered, in which students are reliant on the feedback given by their teachers. Fortunately, the presence of technology-based learning tools is believed to be able to reduce students' dependency on teachers. A built-in Automatic Speech Recognition technology (ASR): ELSA Speak is a mobile-based application that could help students with pronunciation learning by providing prompt feedback and detailed evaluation of its users' pronunciation accuracy. The objective of this study was to examine the use of the mobile-based application, ELSA, in pronunciation learning and whether it could stimulate learners to become more autonomous. A mix-method approach was employed in this study. The quantitative data, in the forms of pre-test and post-test, was gathered through students' pronunciation recordings available in ELSA. This data was analyzed using the paired sample t-test. In addition, a Google Form questionnaire, in five-point Likert Scale, was used to support the quantitative findings. Meanwhile, a semi-structured interview with selected participants served as the qualitative one. These data were analyzed thematically based on the participants' responses. The result shows that incorporating mobile-based technology into English pronunciation learning could provide an opportunity for students to improve their pronunciation. Moreover, students could also broaden their repertoire of available practice strategies that might be useful to improve their autonomous learning ability.

Abstract

Students of the Software Engineering Technology Study Program, Department of Information Technology, Politeknik Negeri Padang, is required to compile a final project to complete their study period. In the implementation of the final project, several parties have involved such as the KBK team whose job is to check whether the proposed title is appropriate or not. The main issue undertaken by KBK is whether the title submitted has been used or not. The method used by KBK in checking the availability of titles was by looking at the titles of the final projects that have been submitted by previous students. The examination process carried out by the KBK, it took a long time. By utilizing the Cosine Similarity algorithm and TF-IDF, it is expected that it will make it easier for KBK to check the availability of final project titles. Cosine similarity is a method used to calculate the degree of similarity between 2 or more documents. While the TF-IDF Algorithm is a method used to weight a word in a document. The object of testing in this study was the title of the student’s final project. The process of calculating the level of similarity of documents started from the preprocessing stage, then proceeds with weighting using TF-IDF and calculating the level of similarity used the Cosine Similarity algorithm. The final result found that system could calculate the degree of similarity of the title of the student’s final project. From the results of testing the process of calculating the degree of similarity of titles using the cosine similarity algorithm can be undertaken quickly.

Abstract

Fiber to The Home (FTTH) is one of the optical networks used for every home in accessing the internet in the form of voice, data, and video. In this study, the authors built an FTTH design from a Handheld Light Source (HLS) as input, then connected it to ODC. Furthermore, it is connected with ODP, OTP, and ROSET. After building the design, the design was tested using the link power budget calculation method, which is 22.803 dB. As a result, the design has a total attenuation value of 18.4 dB which means it meets the standards and can be used. Next, analyze the problems that have the potential to cause macro bending interference in the FTTH home cable installation segment cable. The methods used in this macro bending problem are the HLS calibration method, Optical Power Meter (OPM) measurement, and Visual Fault Locator (VFL) macro damage detection. From this analysis, the results of macro bending will be obtained on the parameters of curvature diameter, the number of windings, and the search for critical angles of indoor cable macro bending. This macro bending in-home wiring installations affect the total attenuation value on FTTH. In addition, the macro bending of 3-winded indoor cables with a diameter of 0.5 cm on each winding still meets the standards in the FTTH design. However, for macro bending 5 windings with a diameter of 0.5 cm, each winding can cause the total attenuation value of FTTH to pass the Link power budget and ITU-T G984.
