Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted educational and healthcare services, including the closure of schools and therapy centers for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This situation increased caregiving demands on parents who previously relied on support from teachers and therapists. Adolescents with ASD experience complex developmental impairments that require continuous and specialized care, making the prolonged pandemic particularly challenging for parents in managing caregiving, education, and therapy at home. This study aimed to explore parents’ experiences in caring for adolescents with ASD during the COVID-19 pandemic in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. A qualitative study with a descriptive phenomenological approach was conducted. Data were collected through focus group discussions with parents of adolescents with ASD aged 9–18 years and analyzed using Colaizzi’s method. The findings identified three main themes: increased caregiving burden, mental health challenges, and parents’ expectations regarding government policies on education and healthcare services for children with ASD. These findings highlight the need for supportive policies and the active involvement of healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, to promote parental well-being and continuity of care during public health crises.

Abstract

Stunting adalah kondisi dimana pertumbuhan fisik anak tidak optimal sebagai akibat dari ketidakseimbangan gizi atau kekurangan gizi kronis. Salah satu faktor yang berperan adalah pengetahuan ibu tentang stunting relatif rendah secara nasional maupun di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Monterado. Posisi ibu sebagai sasaran kunci dalam program intervensi gizi spesifik maupun sensitif menjadi krusial dalam pencegahan kejadian stunting. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis hubungan tingkat pengetahuan ibu dengan kejadian stunting di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Monterado. Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif korelatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Jumlah hitung sampel dengan rumus slovin sebanyak 93 responden yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner pengetahuan ibu dan instrumen antropometri gizi dengan satandar WHO. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah Correlation Spearman Rank. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan ibu dengan kejadian stunting dengan p Value 0.020 (p < α = 0,05) dan r = −0,235. Kesimpulan dari penlitian ini adalah semakin baik pengetahuan ibu, maka kecenderungan kejadian stunting pada balita semakin rendah. Kata kunci: Balita; Ibu; Pengetahuan; Stunting

Abstract

The aim is to explore and understand the concept of spirituality-based leadership by analyzing the life and leadership of Pope Francis, as well as the spiritual principles he adheres to. The background of the importance of spiritual values ​​in a nurse's leadership, especially in facing moral and ethical challenges in the modern era, in providing nursing care services. The method used is a qualitative analysis of book and journal literature. The analysis was conducted to identify the leadership principles employed by Pope Francis and their relevance in the leadership context. The results of the study, spirituality-based leadership exemplified by Pope Francis, include exemplary actions, selfless service, humility, openness to dialogue, and a commitment to social justice. Leadership that can be applied by a nurse is an exemplary attitude, acting selflessly, being humble, and being fair. The conclusion is that leadership based on spiritual values ​​​​from Pope Francis has great potential to provide strong direction in making wise decisions, motivating patients, and building an inclusive and sustainable community for nurses in carrying out their duties.

Abstract

Family participation is one of the keys to success for diabetes patients in achieving the desired blood sugar targets. Diabetes patients who struggle to control blood sugar levels with family support will achieve their targets more quickly than if they struggled alone without a support system. Successful diabetes therapy is not only carried out by the patient and doctor, but must also be supported by support from the environment, in this case the family. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between family support and quality of life in diabetes mellitus patients with diabetic ulcers in the Kaimana Regional Hospital. The design of this research is an observational analytic approach cross-sectional. The population in this study was 43 diabetes mellitus patients. The statistical test used is Chi-square with significance p value < 0,05. Based on test results chi square with a significant level of 5%, it was found that p = 0.063 < 0.05 showed that family support was lacking, while low quality of life was p = 0.088 < 0.05. There is a relationship between family support and quality of life in diabetes mellitus patients with diabetic ulcers at Kaimana Hospital, Kaimana Regency.
