Abstract

Culinary tourism not only offers gastronomic experiences but also contributes to the increase of food waste. This food waste arises from tourists’ behavior of not finishing their meals. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence tourists’ food waste behavior, specifically their tendency not to finish their food, which eventually ends up in the trash at culinary tourism sites in Batam City. This research employs a quantitative approach with 325 respondents who have visited culinary tourism destinations in Batam City. The questionnaire used as the research instrument was first validated by culinary industry experts through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Data were analyzed using PLS-SEM, including outer model testing to ensure the validity and reliability of the constructs, and inner model testing to examine the relationships among variables. The findings indicate that personal norm has a significant effect on the intention to reduce food waste, whereas attitude and food taste do not. Furthermore, for the mediation effect through food waste behavior, only personal norm shows a significant indirect effect mediated by the intention to reduce food waste, while food taste and attitude show no significant influence. This study calls for greater awareness and concern toward food consumption, emphasizing the importance of finishing meals during culinary tourism activities.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) instructional model supported by audiovisual media on students’ cognitive achievement and learning interest in the colloid topic at SMA Negeri 1 Syamtalira during the 2024/2025 academic year. A quantitative approach employing a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design was adopted. The participants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of 29 students from class XI IPAS 8 as the experimental group and 30 students from class XI IPAS 7 as the control group. Data were collected using a cognitive achievement test and a learning interest questionnaire. Statistical analysis was conducted using an independent samples t-test. The findings revealed that students taught using the CTL model integrated with audiovisual media demonstrated significantly higher cognitive achievement and learning interest than those taught using the Discovery Learning model. The experimental group achieved a higher mean posttest score (79.31) compared to the control group (63.78). In addition, the average learning interest score of the experimental group reached 84% (very high category), while the control group obtained 78% (high category). The t-test results showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 ( 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of the CTL model supported by audiovisual media on students’ cognitive achievement and learning interest in colloid learning.

Abstract

Communication security in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a significant challenge in the implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT), particularly in smart city applications which have limitations in energy, memory, and computation. Conventional cryptographic algorithms are generally not suitable for IoT devices due to their complexity and high resource requirements, necessitating lightweight cryptography (LWC) algorithms that can balance security and efficiency. This research evaluates three lightweight encryption algorithms - Speck, Simon, and Ascon - using NS-3 simulations in a multi-hop network scenario with 30 nodes. The parameters analyzed include energy consumption, encryption/decryption time, and communication overhead. The simulation results show a significant trade-off: Speck and Simon excel in energy efficiency and low latency, but their security level is moderate; while Ascon provides stronger security according to NIST LWC standards, but with the consequence of higher energy consumption. The main contribution of this research is the provision of a reproducible NS-3 simulation-based framework that can link security and energy efficiency aspects, while also filling the literature gap, which is still limited to hardware testing. This finding is expected to serve as a practical reference for IoT system designers in determining the appropriate encryption algorithm for smart city application needs, and to open up opportunities for further research on real IoT devices.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to optimize project learning based on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) in the Micro Teaching course in the Mathematics Education Study Program. A descriptive qualitative approach is used to describe student involvement in each stage of the project: starting from planning, digital media development, implementation of micro teaching, reflection, revision, to publication of results. Data was collected through observations, project documents, and assessment sheets based on the TPACK rubric. The results showed that students were able to integrate elements of technology, pedagogy, and content quite well, with the highest scores in the Pedagogical Knowledge (4.5) and TPACK (4.4) dimensions, and the lowest scores in the Technological Content Knowledge dimension (4.1). These findings show that the TPACK-based project learning model is effective in developing the competencies of prospective 21st century mathematics teachers who not only master the material and learning strategies, but are also able to utilize technology appropriately. This study recommends the sustainable application of similar models to support the transformation of digital-based education and innovative pedagogy in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of children's fine motor skills through the implementation of pattern cutting activities at RA At-Taqwa. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a descriptive method approach. This research was conducted collaboratively between researchers and class teachers to improve children's fine motor skills through pattern-cutting activities. This study was designed in two cycles, where each cycle consists of four main stages, namely: a) planning; b) implementing action; c) observing; and d) reflecting. The results showed that 11 of the 17 children (64.71%) had achieved the success indicator, which was at least in the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) category. This result did not meet the success indicator, so it will be continued in cycle II. Based on the results of the reflection, the teacher made a number of improvements in cycle II, including simplifying the pattern, adding motor warm-up activities, and providing assistance based on the child's abilities. After these improvements, the results in cycle II showed a significant improvement. A total of 11 children (64.7%) reached the BSB category, 5 children (29.41%) were in the BSH category, and only 1 child (5.88%) was still in the MB category. No children were in the BB category. This means that 16 of the 17 children (94.12%) have achieved the success indicator, which is at least in the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) category.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of habit, facilitating conditions, and personal innovativeness in IT (Information Technology) on the intention to use the BYOND by BSI mobile banking application, with perceived enjoyment serving as a mediating variable. The theoretical framework is on the extended UTAUT3 (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) framework, integrating psychological and affective aspects of user experience within the context of Islamic digital banking. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) method. The study involved 200 active customers of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Batu Diponegoro branch, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire employing a five-point Likert scale. The results indicate that habit and facilitating conditions significantly influence perceived enjoyment, whereas personal innovativeness in IT has no significant effect. Furthermore, habit and personal innovativeness in IT have significant direct effects on intention to use, while facilitating conditions do not. Importantly, perceived enjoyment mediates the relationship between the three independent variables and intention to use, highlighting the crucial role of positive emotional experiences in sustaining the adoption of Islamic mobile banking services. The study contributes to the extension of UTAUT3 by emphasizing the affective dimension in technology acceptance within Islamic finance. Practically, it offers strategic insights for Bank Syariah Indonesia to enhance user-centered digital experiences that foster loyalty and engagement with BYOND as an Islamic financial super-app.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of zakat and waqf in supporting macroeconomic stability in Muslim countries through a qualitative literature-based approach. Economic inequality and persistent poverty indicate that economic growth alone is insufficient without effective redistributive and developmental instruments. Zakat functions as a short-term macroeconomic stabilizer by increasing the purchasing power of mustahik, smoothing consumption, strengthening aggregate demand, and reducing multidimensional poverty. Meanwhile, productive waqf contributes to long-term socio-economic development through capital formation, human capital enhancement, infrastructure provision, and support for productive economic activities. The literature synthesis demonstrates that the integration of zakat and waqf creates a balance between short-term redistribution and long-term investment, generating a stronger impact on inclusive growth and socio-economic resilience than the isolated operation of each instrument. However, their effectiveness remains constrained by institutional fragmentation, limited transparency and accountability, weak data integration, and insufficient alignment with national fiscal policy frameworks. This study underscores the importance of strengthening governance, regulatory harmonization, digital integration, and policy coordination to optimize zakat and waqf as strategic Islamic social finance instruments for sustainable macroeconomic stability.

Abstract

The polarization between textual-literalist and contextual-interdisciplinary approaches in understanding hadith in the modern era has become an endless debate that causes a stigma that is not good in Islamic discourse. A multidisciplinary approach in the study of the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW is a need for the interpretation of hadith that is relevant to the challenges of modern society as well as being a mediator of this polarization. This research uses qualitative methods based on library research, content analysis, and critical discourse analysis. Primary data is taken from standard hadith books, while secondary data comes from interdisciplinary literature. The results of the study show that a multidisciplinary approach results in a more comprehensive, adaptive, and contextual understanding of hadith. Linguistic analysis avoids anachronism in the interpretation of terms; sociological and historical approaches place the hadith in social reality and historical chronology; anthropology distinguishes between universal teachings and cultural expressions; philosophy explores universal ethical values; and hermeneutics enriches the process of interpretation according to the dynamics of the times. The contributions of this research include strengthening the integrative methodological framework in the study of hadith, practical relevance for social policy, and the bridge between the classical scientific tradition and the development of contemporary social-humanities sciences. Thus, a multidisciplinary approach not only enriches the scientific treasures of hadith, but also becomes an urgent need to answer the problems of Muslims in the modern era.
