Abstract

This study aims to analyze Shopee's digital marketing strategy from a business law perspective, focusing on the interaction between innovative marketing practices and compliance with applicable legal regulations. Shopee, as one of the leading e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia, has succeeded in attracting consumers through various digital marketing strategies, including the use of social media, influencer marketing, and data-driven promotions. However, in implementing these strategies, Shopee is faced with significant legal challenges, including personal data protection, fair marketing practices, and compliance with consumer protection and e-commerce laws. The research method used is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach, involving an in-depth analysis of Shopee's marketing policies and a review of related legal regulations. Data were obtained through literature reviews, analysis of Shopee's policy documents, and interviews with practitioners in the fields of law and digital marketing. The results of the study show that Shopee implements various innovative and responsive marketing strategies to consumer behavior. For example, the integration of big data technology in understanding user preferences and creating a personalized shopping experience. However, this study also found potential violations of the law, such as the risk of misuse of consumer data and lack of transparency in marketing practices. This raises questions about Shopee's responsibility as an e-commerce platform provider in protecting consumer rights. This finding indicates the need for a more proactive approach in ensuring regulatory compliance and creating a balance between marketing innovation and legal protection.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media, especially TikTok, has changed the consumption landscape of the younger generation. This study aims to examine the extent to which the TikTok platform influences online purchasing decisions of college students. Through a survey involving 99 college students, this study analyzes the relationship between exposure to TikTok content and online purchasing behavior. Quantitative research methods were used with questionnaire instruments that measured the frequency of TikTok use, perceptions of TikTok's influence, and online purchasing behavior. Data were analyzed using correlation analysis to test the relationship between research variables. The results showed that TikTok has a significant influence in increasing brand awareness and consumer interest in certain products. However, its influence on overall purchasing decisions is still limited. Other factors such as price, product quality, and recommendations from friends and family remain the main considerations in the decision-making process. This study examines the role of TikTok as a trigger for online purchasing decisions of college students, considering the moderating role of demographic variables such as age and gender. The results of the analysis show that the influence of TikTok is stronger among female college students than male college students. In addition, college students with high frequency of social media use are generally more susceptible to TikTok's influence. These findings highlight the importance of market segmentation in designing effective marketing strategies on the TikTok platform.

These challenges inspired this study to investigate the effect of e-governance on public service delivery in Nigeria. This study employed survey research design with data primarily sourced using structured questionnaires based on Likert scale. The population of the study consist of public servants and members of the public most of whom are lecturers and students of tertiary institutions. The Ordered Logistic Regression (OLR) model was used to estimate the data. The results showed that digital literacy among public servants, digital literacy among citizens, Internet penetration rate and mobile network coverage have significant positive effects on public service delivery with (β = 0.108; p-value = 0.007), (β = 0.006; p-value = 0.004), (β = 0.633; p-value = 0.001) and (β = 0.078; p-value = 0.010). The study therefore concluded that e-governance affects public service delivery in Nigeria. Hence, the study recommended that the Federal Government of Nigeria should design mandatory training programs for public servants focused on e-governance skills; include citizens in digital literacy campaigns through schools and ensure digital platforms are user-friendly and available in multiple local languages.
