Abstract

Urinary incontinence is a medical condition commonly experienced by the elderly, requiring prompt and accurate diagnosis for effective treatment. This study aims to develop and compare the performance of two methods in expert systems for diagnosing urinary incontinence in the elderly: Certainty Factor and Bayesian. The developed expert system is web-based and utilizes a symptom dataset collected from the Santa Monika Boro Nursing Home. The findings reveal that the Certainty Factor method excels in diagnostic processing speed, while the Bayesian method offers higher accuracy in diagnostic predictions. This comparison provides valuable insights into selecting appropriate approaches for expert system applications in medical settings.

Abstract

Traffic accidents are complex problems that involve many variables such as weather conditions, vehicle type, location, and driver behavior. With the development of data processing technology, it is possible to analyze accident data in more depth to find significant hidden patterns. The Decision Tree algorithm is applied to predict the likelihood of an accident occurring and identify the factors that contribute most to the accident. The data used consists of accident records collected from various sources, including official reports and traffic statistics. The Decision Tree algorithm was chosen due to its ability to handle both categorical and numerical data, as well as the ease of interpretation of the analysis results. The results of this study show that factors such as vehicle speed, time of occurrence, and road conditions have a significant influence on the probability of an accident occurring. The results of news extraction are analyzed by creating decision rules to determine the pattern of accidents that occur. This decision rule is in the form of a decision tree with a dataset that uses data with the highest fatalities with the imputation feature mode by concept as a method of handling missing values and toll roads as attributes, resulting in an f1-score value of 60.00% and an accuracy value of 70.40%.

Abstract

Advances in medical technology have enabled the application of machine learning for disease classification, including monkeypox. Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus and can be detected through patient data. This study aims to compare the performance of Support Vector Machine (SVM), k-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Naïve Bayes algorithms in building a monkeypox classification model. The dataset used consists of 25,000 patient records. The results show that the SVM model with a linear kernel achieved the best accuracy compared to KNN and Naïve Bayes. These findings demonstrate that the SVM model with a linear kernel is highly effective in classifying monkeypox, offering great potential for further medical applications.

Abstract

This study focuses on identifying flood-prone areas in North Sumatra, one of the provinces in Indonesia that is very vulnerable to natural disasters such as floods. The impact of floods often results in significant material losses and fatalities. Therefore, it is important to identify high-risk areas so that prevention and mitigation strategies can be implemented effectively. This study uses the K-Means clustering method and Rapid Miner software to determine the area’s most vulnerable to flooding. The results of the analysis show that areas with high flood risk are included in cluster 1, which includes areas with high potential flood vulnerability based on historical data and flood risk indicators that have been analyzed. These findings can be used to design strategies that are implemented and provide greater contributions to the region.

Abstract

PT. Garuda Mitra Kimia is a company that distributes or sells chemicals and also distributes its products. Chemical inventory in the company is the most important thing for the company. The company must be ready to provide chemicals that are often needed by customers. A problem that often occurs at PT. Garuda Mitra Kimia is difficulty in determining the best-selling products so that product inventory is not structured according to the best-selling products. Often there are errors in inputting sales data so that the stock in the warehouse is not appropriate, which can complicate product inventory management so that sales reports for the best-selling products have not been properly systematized. To overcome these problems, PT. Garuda Mitra Kimia requires a system for product sales so that PT. Garuda Mitra Kimia can determine product inventory stock for best-selling products. The result of this study is an Android-based system by implementing a decision support system to determine the sales of best-selling products at PT. Garuda Mitra Kimia using the ARAS method, which aims to make it easier for companies to obtain sales reports for best-selling products with appropriate and well-systematized management data.

Abstract

Unemployment and poverty are problems that many people in the region experience, one of which is the city of Medan. Unemployment is one of the main causes of poverty in the community because there are not enough jobs to meet the needs of life. This study aims to analyze the influence of the unemployed on the poverty rate in Medan City using a simple linear regression method. The data came from the Central Statistics Agency of Medan City during the last five years. The analysis results showed a positive relationship between the number of unemployed and the poverty rate, with the regression coefficient showing that every 1% increase in the unemployment rate would increase the poverty rate by 1,147,853,639. The analysis results using the simple linear regression method show that the value of a= constant is 176,1392505, which means that if there is no unemployment (X), the poverty number (Y) is 176,139250. As for the b = regression coefficient, the value is 1,147853639. This means that by adding 1% to the unemployment rate (X), the number of people living in poverty (Y) will increase by 1,147853639. This research is expected to contribute to designing effective policies to reduce unemployment and poverty in Medan City.
