Inland Waterways Journal (IWJ) is a journal which handled by Inland Water and Ferries Transport Polytechnic of Palembang (Poltektrans SDP Palembang) of record for the towing and barge industry on the inland waterways of the Palembang, Indonesia chiefly the watershed of the Musi River and its tributaries and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. Our customers are the barge companies, ports, terminals, fleets, shipyards, refuelers, shippers, suppliers and marine contractors that form the inland waterways transportation industry. Inland Waterways Journal (IWJ) periodically publish two (2) times in April and October. The publication’s wide-ranging news articles provide a window into the people and technology behind a thriving major sector of water and ferries transport in Indonesia especially in Palembang. Topics covered include inland shipyards, lock and dam construction, the Corps of Engineers, dredging news, inland ports and terminals, barge and towboat construction and launches, new technology relating to towboats, and regulations of the Inland Waterways, Environmental Protection Agency, and other federal agencies that affect inland waterways commerce, as well as news about major commodities that travel the waterways, such as grain, coal, steel and fertilizer,etc. Inland Waterways Journal (IWJ) also closely covers the actions of organizations that support waterways interests, including the Waterways Council, the Musi Waterways Operators, National Waterways Conference, Inland Rivers Ports and Terminals, and Transportation Ministry. Editorials in the journal often discuss government regulation as it relates to the rivers and those who use the river for Inland water and ferries transport.

Pemenang of the harbor is one of the Ports located in West Lombok regency. Seaport Village Pemenang connect with the three Gili. Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan, Gili where to go to the third can not be by road, but the number of boats are available at the Port Pemenang does not match the number of passengers at the Port so that the ship - its can not operate every day. The analysis used in analyzing the existing problems in the Pemenang's Port is: Load Factor Analysis, Needs Analysis of the Canoe Motor Boat. Based on the results obtained from the data analysis needs of an ideal Canoe Motor Boat operating in the Port Ward Pemenang of Gili Air trajectory for the year 2008 as many as four ships, with restrictions on the number of trips for each trip is 2 - each ship.

This study investigated to find out whether or not there were any significant differences of the second level cadets’ listening ability and listening attitude using video materials. By using questionnaire forty cadets were selected as the sample and equally divided into experimental and control groups. By applying pretest and post-test control group design the treatment was only given to the experimental group. The data were analyzed by using three techniques: they were the statistical analysis on measuring homogeneity and normality data, independent t-test, and two-way ANOVA. Due to the research findings, it was found that (1) there was significant difference in listening ability between positive and negative attitude students who were taught by using Video materials (0.000<0.05). (2) there was significant difference in listening ability between positive and negative attitude students who were taught by using conventional technique (0.000<0.05). (3) there was significance difference in listening ability between positive and negative attitude students who were taught by using video materials and those who were taught by using conventional technique (0.000<0.05). (4) there was a significant interaction effect of Video materials and listening attitude towards the listening ability at the second level cadets of D III Inland Water and Ferries Transport Palembang (0.020 < 0.05).

Transportation is a physical activity of the movement of goods or passengers from one place to another which has a very important role in economic, social, cultural and political development. With the transportation of the distribution of these goods and the results of production can be done and reach all regions evenly which will ultimately increase Regional, National income and open isolated areas and increase income for the local area and the country in general. The increasing interaction of transportation between economic and social activities in an area causes the need for a transportation role that is useful to assist movement in the area. The economic and social development of an area is also strongly influenced by the transportation system which will ultimately increase the development of the region. The success of the development of an area is strongly influenced by the role of transportation as the blood of life in an area both political, economic, social and cultural life as well as defense and security. To realize the mission championed by transportation, namely improving the quality of services and management of transportation services that are reliable, competitive and provide added value that is able to support the recovery of the national economy. Simanindo Port, located in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province, is a commercial port managed by the Department of Transportation that serves public services to carry out crossing activities that connect Simanindo Port in Samosir District with Tigaras Port within the Simalungun Regency. The existence of the Simanindo-Tigaras cross is very important because with the existence of the port, it can support economic development efforts and also as a vein of land transportation due to the interruption of Lake Toba. In the transportation system, security and safety are preferred as a form of good service delivery. Safety is demonstrated not only to service users and ship operators, but also to vehicles both at port and while sailing. As with the regulation and handling of vehicle loads on board, the better the arrangement and handling of vehicles on board the better the level of vehicle security and safety on the ship and vice versa the worse the arrangement and handling of vehicles on board the worse the level of vehicle security and safety on board.

South Sumatra is one of the provinces that has a large area of water. Musi River is the main means of transportation in several sub-districts in South Sumatra. The problem discussed in this study is "What is the safety standard for river transportation passengers (speed boat) at Musi river Pasar 16 Ilir Palembang?" The purpose of this study was to determine the safety standards for river transportation (speedboat) passengers in the Musi River flow area at Pasar 16 Ilir, Palembang. The results of this study are expected to be useful for the teaching of literary readers, and for further researchers.1) for passengers, this research can be used as a reference in knowing passenger rights for safety in travel. 2) for the driver, this research can increase professionalism in driving, it can be used in increasing service to passengers and increasing professionalism of drivers and developing plans for the development of transportation infrastructure in the Musi River in Palembang. The method used by researchers is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Based on the results of research and discussion, safety standards for speedboat passengers in the Musi River flow area, there are several Minister of Transportation regulations that have not been implemented, such as emergency exits on large speedboats, the absence of traffic signs in the Musi River area which causes the speedboat driver to not know the state of the river like the presence of trees and stones in the water. Safety equipment such as life jackets or life jackets, and buoys amount to only around 10% per boat. There is no record of the passenger, the passenger pays the transportation fee directly to the driver.

In an effort to implement work procedures safely and avoid working risks to loading and unloading activities, awareness of the loading and unloading workers (TKBM) is required to apply Occupational Safety and Health (K3) rules through the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The fact that occurs when this, the application of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in loading and unloading activities at the Port is still lacking, even though the loading and unloading activities are high operational activities that can cause various risks of accidents, especially risks to occupational safety and health. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the process of implementing Occupational Safety and Health (K3) to Unloading Workers at the Boom Baru Port of Palembang through the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The study used survey questions and direct interviews in the field, followed by identification of project locations, visual surveys in the project and documentation taking in the field. Implementation of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). At the Boom Baru Port of Palembang, it has not been going well because of the lack of implementation of the supervisory function of the TKBM Cooperative and from the regulatory side of the Palembang Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP).

Transportation needs in an area caused by the interaction between social and political activities, as well as tourism in the area. Transportation plays a very important role in the success of the development of an area, which has a role as a liaison between one region and another separated by the presence of water, the role of transportation is also very closely related to development, and stimulates new activities in the development of the transportation system into a very important and very useful role in the smooth development of the wheel, strengthening unity and unity that affects all aspects of life. The conditions of West Lombok Regency which is close to Bali Island which is separated by the Lombok Strait, this causes crossing transportation is the main transportation of goods or passengers that can be reached by the community in supporting equitable development. Crossing transportation has an important role to provide support for economic growth, especially crossing. The position of transportation becomes one of the decisive elements in order to guarantee the economic development of the community. As the economy progresses, the role of transportation increases. This is due to the economic dependence on transportation to be greater because it must always be guaranteed smoothness in the flow of goods and passengers quickly, cheaply and safely from Padangbai Port to Lembar Harbor or vice versa. Lembar Crossing Port is one of the Crossing Ports located in West Lombok Regency which serves the Lembar - Padangbai Crossing. At the Crossing Port Lembar there is a ferry transportation company operated by PT. Indonesia Ferry ASDP Branch of Lembar.

Fix overtime on MT. Ontari at PT. Buana Listya Tama, can help Crews finish work on time with limited time, but the implementation of fix overtime at PT. Buana Listya Tama has not been going well to improve the performance. The purpose of this study is to determine the cause of fix overtime in order to improve the performance of Watchkeeping are given to Ship Crews to improve. This research uses descriptive qualitative method which will reveal facts, phenomena, variables and conditions that occur when the research is going on regarding fix overtime experienced by Crews. The results of the study indicate the causes of fix overtime including, the role of the rear face when leaning or off the dock, existence of anchor, loading and unloading, drill, bunkering, and ship engine maintenance. Policy of the fix overtime are not comfortable so many crew want to sign off before the contract expires, and the policy of fix overtime there are problems or obstacles that need time and process for the creation of efforts or steps taken can realized business that can be done including, increasing salaries, providing incentives and compensation and vessel allowance to the crew at PT. Buana Listya Tama.

Inland water harbor is a port located in the inland waters of a large river that can be navigated, canal / river or in a lake. The inland port can function like a seaport with various loading and unloading activities including container ships, tankers, roro ships and so on like the Boom Baru port in Palembang, Trisakti Port located in the suburbs of Banjarmasin, the capital of South Kalimantan Province, is located on the banks of the Barito River, about 20 miles from the mouth of the Barito River at position 03 "20" 18 "LS, 114" 34 "48" East. Banjarmasin port is a major supporter of sea transportation which directly or indirectly plays an active role in the economic development of South Kalimantan Province. Because through inland waters usually the draft ship is not too deep depending on the river being passed.
