Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that often occurs in society, especially in developing countries. The inability to effectively control hypertension, especially when aggravated by stress, can result in a range of complications and ultimately fatal outcomes. Purpose: The aim of this research is to analyze strengthening resilience towards balancing psychological stress in hypertensive patients. The research method uses a cross-sectional correlation analysis approach carried out in the Bangkalan Regency City Health Center Work Area - Indonesia. The population was 68 patients, and the sample size was 55 respondents taken using simple random sampling. Data were processed using the Spearman Ranks Test with alpha (α) 0.05. The research results show a p value of 0.004 with a correlation coefficient of 0.384, which means there is a positive relationship between strengthening resilience and balancing psychological stress with moderate closeness. Resilience is able to regulate the balance of psychological stress which has an impact on the activation of the neuro-endocrine system to control blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Indonesia is committed to accelerating increased access to treatment in hospitals with quality services. ARV treatment still faces several challenges, such as the level of knowledge of people living with HIV, problems with counseling, assistance, family support, community support, and the number of services available. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the behavior of initiating ARV treatment in people with HIV at RSUD Dr. Drajat Prawiranegara. This type of research is quantitative and has a cross-sectional design. Independent variables are education level, attitude, distance to health services, and family support. Meanwhile, the dependent variable is ARV treatment initiation behavior—the entire population of HIV patients at RSUD Dr. Drajat Prawiranegara in 2023. The total sample was 56 people selected by total sampling. Statistical tests used the Chi-square test with 95% CI and logistic regression tests. The results of statistical tests showed that the variable distance to availability of health services did not have a significant relationship with ARV treatment initiation behavior (p> 0.05), while the variable level of knowledge with p= 0.000, the attitude variable with p=0.009, and the family support variable with p=0.002, which means it has a significant relationship with ARV treatment initiation behavior. The largest OR value is in the knowledge variable OR=12.129.

Abstract

Self-directed learning (SDL) solves learning challenges using various learning tools. Nursing requires lifelong learning, and SDL is an important skill for practitioners to stay current and effective. It is required of nursing students to embrace SDL and hone these abilities. Nevertheless, there is no indication of this novel procedure in Lumajang. This study aims to assess nursing students' preparation for SDL and its impact on learning outcomes. This quasi-experimental study purposefully included 91 students who carry out basic nursing clinical practice as participants. The instrument used in this study was the Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS) questionnaire developed by Fisher. The results of this study showed that there was an increase in the SDLR level from 9 students (9.9%) having a high SDLR level to 78 students (85.8%) and 82 students (90.1%) having a moderate SDLR level to 13 students (14.2%). The nursing students' average SDL preparedness level has a substantial impact on learning outcomes. Nursing training institutes should give the resources required to adopt SDL as a primary teaching technique to ensure competent lifelong professionals.
