Abstract

A cafe called Cafe XYZ is located at Pasar Minggu. Apart from heavy and light food, Cafe XYZ serves a selection of drinks, specializing in coffee drinks, cereal, and ice cream. Even though this cafe has been around for seven years, there are still obstacles that must be resolved so that sales can increase. However, Cafe XYZ's business is still experiencing problems. Among them are products that are not updated on social media, product promotions that are incomplete, and according to the owner, sales targets are lacking, sales strategies are lacking, and market segmentation is still too narrow. Therefore, to achieve a good strategy, strategy development is needed. Based on research that has been carried out, the Cartesian diagram shows that in quadrant I growth and development (grow and build) use the SO strategy. By using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), the results showed that the best strategy selection was to use the SO strategy by offering customization for customers to customize their coffee.

Abstract

Fatigue is a condition of decreased body efficiency that can affect work productivity and cause work accidents. Konveksi Ruang Klambi is considered to not have a good work system because the convection party has problems, especially during working hours. This study conducted a fatigue frequency assessment using the Fatigue Assessment Scale. After identifying the factors and subfactors that cause fatigue, risk control is carried out on each subfactor, an assessment is given based on the severity and possibility of obtaining a risk level that is in accordance with the risk matrix. The results obtained were 9 subfactors that were included in the extreme risk level, with the workload factor whose subfactors overall obtained an extreme risk level. Control efforts based on the control hierarchy were applied to subfactors that obtained an extreme risk level. Overall control efforts were carried out administratively, including the implementation of 8 working hours and 5 working days on subfactors related to time, providing education in the form of posters and stickers to remind of the dangers of fatigue, providing entertainment and sports facilities, designing work scheduling with the application of daily production capacity, 8 working hours a day and 5 working days a week, workers and training for each worker so that they are able to take turns at each work station so that the workload received is evenly distributed.

Abstract

Manufacturing companies today must be able to compete with each other, one way is to improve operational performance. Lean manufacturing plays an important role in minimizing waste and increasing productivity. PT XYZ Workshop is a provider of children's amusement parks, facing challenges in production capacity, especially for large projects. PT XYZ Workshop experienced various problems, including storage, production planning, material handling, and quality control during 2022-2023. This study applies lean manufacturing to identify and overcome production problems in PT XYZ workshop. The methods used include Waste Assessment Model (WAM) and Pareto Diagram to analyze critical waste, 5 Why Analysis to identify root causes, and FMEA to determine Potential Failure Cause with the highest RPN value. The results show that critical waste consists of Defect (19.46%), Over Production (18.72%), Inventory (17.44%), Motion (13.89%), and Waiting (10.72%). The main root causes are "No Special Responsible Workforce" (68%) and "No Clear SOP" (27%). The highest RPN was found in the problem of material not arriving on time, with the solution being the Planned Order Schedule procedure.

Abstract

PT. BPI is a manufacturing company specializing in steel pipes, electric poles, and similar products, located in Bekasi. In its supply chain operations, the company utilizes transporter services for product delivery. However, delays in delivery have occurred, affecting the achievement of targets, thus requiring an evaluation of transporter performance. This research aims to evaluate supply chain performance, identify problematic indicators, and propose improvements. The performance measurement is conducted using the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) method, which covers the entire supply chain process from upstream to downstream. The data used for the measurement were provided by the company and analyzed based on relevant performance attributes and metrics. Additionally, the weighting of each metric is done using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results show that the total performance matrix scores for the transporters are 98.254% for PT. BSM, 98.094% for PT. BGR, and 97.648% for PT. BARUNA, all falling under the "Excellent" performance category. However, several performance indicators fall under the "average" and "marginal" categories, which require priority improvements. These improvements are proposed based on best practices from the SCOR method.

Abstract

Agriculture is an essential sector in the global economy that plays a key role in meeting the world's food needs. However, one of the main challenges faced by farmers is providing an adequate water supply for their crops. Inconsistent and unscheduled water availability can have negative impacts on plant growth, productivity, and harvest yields. In an effort to address this challenge, automatic irrigation systems have been developed. An automatic irrigation system is a system that automatically provides water to plants based on measured and controlled water requirements using smart sensors and controls. This system helps ensure that plants receive the right amount of water they need, at the right time, and in the right place. Product development is an activity carried out to improve a product towards providing greater benefits and satisfaction. Based on the data collection and processing related to the design and development of the Automatic Irrigation System (ACTION System), it can be concluded that the designed and developed product meets the needs and desires of consumers, as evidenced by the obtained questionnaire results. The Automatic Irrigation System (ACTION System) has an additional innovation: it can automatically water dry soil due to its moisture sensor.

Abstract

In this modern era, the increasing development of science and technology has led to an increase in human activity which is followed by an increase in vehicle capacity and a decrease in pedestrians. So transportation needs will increase. In Surabaya, the need for transportation has become a primary need for very dense city residents and the situation at the Lakarsantri – Driyorejo intersection uses 3 signal phases with the 311 type intersection, where if one arm of the intersection is in the green phase, the other two phases are in the red phase and vice versa. This is very busy during peak hours such as in the morning, namely at 07.00-08.00, that time is usually busy due to the time of going to work, school and so on and during the day, namely at 12.00-13.00, office break time, school time. Used in this research is the 1997 Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI 1997). This research carried out traffic surveillance on the number of vehicles passing, intersection capacity, and the degree of saturation. From the research results, it was found that the highest traffic volume at the intersection of Lakarsantri – Driyorejo, Surabaya City occurred on Thursday at 17.00-18.00 WIB, Jalan Lakarsantri (West) was 630 pcu/hour, Jalan Menganti (East) was 473 pcu/hour, and Jalan Driyorejo was 657 pcu/hour. And it has an average degree of saturation of 0.95.

Abstract

The concept of OEE is a method for measuring the effectiveness of machines or production equipment that involves three main factors: Availability, Performance, and Quality. The OEE calculation formula is the product of these three factors. A case study at PT. Makmur Jaya Abadi shows that the implementation of the OEE Monitoring System has provided real benefits, such as improved production efficiency, improved product quality, and reduced production costs. However, the challenges faced include system complexity, training needs, and changes in work culture.

Abstract

There are many universities in Indonesia that has The Department of Industrial Engineering of University X, the recent year of 2015 Industrial Engineering Major are registered in 187 universities. One of the universities that has Department of Industrial Engineering is the University X. The Department of Industrial Engineering of University X has got A accreditation, however the general public still not known and understand what it is The Department of Industrial Engineering of University X. There are only 6 out of 100 respondents who want to enter the Department of Industrial Engineering in University X, and 54% did not understand what is The Department of Industrial Engineering of University X, based on the distributed questionnaires. The research implemented SWOT and QSPM strategy which is conducted in order to be able to assess the increasing level of brand awareness in The Department of Industrial Engineering of University X. The first of the questionnaire distribution is to know the curent existence of brand awareness of The Department of Industrial Engineering of University X with the respondents are high school students. The second questionnaire was conducted to find out whether internal or external factors that exist within the Department of Industrial Engineering of University X may become strength or weaknesses. With the internal and external factors that has been provided, SWOT strategy can be implemented. Such action are implemented because the Department of Industrial Engineering University X is positioned within the first quadrant which the SO strategy can be used and assigned to the QSPM. SO strategy is the right thing to be done by the Department of Industrial Engineering University X based on SWOT Analysis. Strategy such strategy includes: 1) socializing the achievement of The Department of Industrial Engineering of University X which has been accredited A and has GPA average above 3 to the prospective students. 2) increasing the number of lecturers involved on Joint research to lecturers post-graduate and doctorate program. 3) achieving international level accreditation. 4) increase the number of cooperation with International industry. 5) increase and concurrent cooperation in the field of education, research, and community service with external parties both national and international level. 6) to make Industrial Engineering graduates who are in national or international industry to help fill guest lecture at Department of Industrial Engineering University X. based on QSPM method the highly recommended strategy is to increase the accreditation to the international level. Other recommended strategies are the improvement and sharing of cooperation in the field of education, research, and community service with external parties, both at national and international levels, and increasing number of lecturers involved in joint research on the lecturers of post-graduate and doctorate program

Abstract

Traffic accidents are the 8th leading cause of death in the world based on WHO data in 2020. This figure is dominated by motorcyclists with a fatality percentage of road accidents of 75%. This happens because motorcycles do not have much protection if they are involved in an accident. This data shows that motorcyclists are in dangerous conditions. Given the danger of motorcycle accidents, this article aims to conduct a literature study related to questionnaires/instruments that can identify the factors that cause accidents and the severity of motorcycle accidents. Articles in the form of journals and proceedings in English published internationally were collected and obtained 119 articles. In-depth analysis was carried out on articles published in 2007 to early 2022, namely research from Elliott et al. (2007) in the United Kingdom, Putranto (2014) in Indonesia, Bui et al., (2020) in Vietnam, Uttra et al., (2020) in Thailand, and Andrijanto et al. (2022) in Indonesia. The main finding of the article states that the questionnaire is formed into indicators consisting of 5 factors (traffic errors, speed violations, stunts, safety equipment, and control errors). Common linear modeling methods show that age, experience, annual mileage are the main predictors of accident cause risk. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of the MRBQ revealed the indicators were grouped into four distinct factors from 36 question items.  The addition of risky behavior factors for motorcyclists and the addition of local behavior factors  are a solution effort to complete the questionnaire for assessing the behavior of motorcyclists related to the existence of typical risky behaviors in Indonesia. In this study, the validation of the questionnaire was only carried out on the islands of Java and Sumatra, because these two regions occupied the highest position in terms of the number of motorcycle accidents per year for the last five years (2016-2021)

Abstract

PT XYZ is a company engaged in the pharmaceutical sector that supplies medicines in Indonesia. In the packaging of medicinal products, there are two types of packaging. Among them are primary packaging and secondary packaging. Chuan Yung Stripping Machine is one of the strip machines in the primary packaging production stage of drugs used by PT XYZ. Problems regarding the existence of defective products caused by the Chuan Yung Stripping machine resulted in several products that were defective either damaged, pinched, and there was too much dust on the machine. This occurs due to human error or errors that occur on the Chuan Yung Stripping machine. The method used in this research is to use Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by determining the availability rate, performance rate, and quality rate to analyze Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). The OEE value in January 2023 - December 2023 is 75%. This percentage is very far compared to the global standard of 85% due to the absence of OEE values that reach or exceed 85%. This happens due to high machine downtime. So the company must make improvements in order to improve product quality, work effectiveness and machines as well as in reducing the presence of defective products
