Abstract

The application of transportation algorithms in distributing rice seedlings at PT Sriwijaya aims to optimize operational costs and logistics efficiency. This study analyzes the distribution process of rice seedlings from warehouses in Noelbaki and Kolbano to various agents using the software POM-QM for Windows. The transportation method was chosen to determine the most efficient allocation and shipping routes, focusing on reducing distribution costs. Data collected through observations and interviews indicate that the company faces challenges in-stock availability and high distribution costs. The analysis results show that transportation algorithms can reduce distribution costs by up to 25% while ensuring that all agent demands are optimally met. This study emphasizes the importance of applying mathematical methods in distribution management to enhance PT Sriwijaya's competitiveness in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the production of flat sugar and water sugar in MSMEs owned by Mrs. Yane Pandie in Oebelo Dalam using the linear programming (LP) method and the simplex method. Data collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies were processed using the POM-QM application to determine the optimal production volume, maximize profits, and minimize production costs. The main constraints faced are the limited raw materials such as sap and firewood and the need for packaging. The optimization results show that to achieve maximum profit, the company must produce flat sugar 2 times per cycle without producing water sugar. Constraint analysis shows that increasing the availability of sap can increase profitability. This method allows producers to plan resource allocation efficiently, respond effectively to market demand, and increase competitiveness in the industry

Abstract

In the production process, there is a potential risk of work accidents that can arise due to the production activities themselves, both due to worker negligence and work environment conditions. Based on observations of production activities at CV. XYZ and interviews with several workers, various risks of work accidents were identified, both related to the production process and environment. This paper was prepared using qualitative analysis that utilizes data analysis through the HIRARC method. Proposed improvements regarding the risk of accidents were prepared using the 5W+1H method. The results of the analysis show that the main factors for the emergence of work accidents are rooted in the aspects of machines and people. From the accident risk level discovery process, nine hazard risks were categorized based on the emergence factors and related activities. The assessment provided information that the risk level varied from high to low. To address this, the proposed improvements focus on the five occupational accident risks with the highest risk levels, namely: Complete use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and maintaining a safe distance from the machine, Conducting regular machine checks and ensuring procedures are carried out correctly, Providing briefings from the division head to employees to focus, comply with SOPs, and follow a good work schedule, Educating workers on the importance of using PPE and work safety, Installing hazard signs in risky areas, such as where materials have the potential to fall.

Abstract

Employees in the industrial sector have diverse job types encompassing both internal and external activities. The daily working hours are 8 hours and 30 minutes for five days a week. Excessive workloads can lead to overuse of energy and cause overstress or fatigue. This study aims to determine the levels of mental workload, work fatigue, and the relationship between mental workload and fatigue. The method used to measure mental workload is the NASA-TLX questionnaire, while work fatigue is measured using the IFRC questionnaire. The researchers employed a cross-sectional approach. Based on the calculation of mental workload by job position, the scores were as follows: Head of Division - 81.33, Head of Section - 72.57, Civil Servants - 71.5, and Non-Permanent Employees (TKK/TKS) - 71. The calculation of work fatigue resulted in scores of 70 for the Head of Division, 76 for the Head of Section, 70.66 for Civil Servants, and 68 for Non-Permanent Employees (TKK/TKS). The Pearson product-moment correlation test (alpha < 0.05) or (0.003 < 0.05) concluded that there is a relationship between mental workload and work fatigue.

Abstract

This steel manufacturing company located in Citangkil District, Cilegon City is a company engaged in the steel manufacturing industry in Indonesia. Based on research conducted in the period January 2023 to January 2024, it was recorded that there was a swelling of the lead time in the production process in the Rheinstall Heraeus (RH). In this study, the author uses the lean manufacturing method. This method can analyze and determine the activities that need to be done and the activities that do not need to be done, with Vallue added and non value added tools (VA and NVA) after knowing the activities that need to be done and the activities that do not need to be done, then continue with the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) tools to get the value of waste that can be eliminated. The result of the research using the Lean Manufacturing method is that the lead time in the treatment process has been successfully reduced, which originally took up to 1780 seconds to 1520 seconds, and was carried out safely without ignoring the SOP and Safety that apply in the company. The results of the research using the Lean Manufacturing method are, the lead time in the treatment process has been successfully reduced, the waste itself is found in the treatment stage starting from the vacuum start process from 120 seconds to 60 seconds, taking the initial temperature from 120 seconds to 100 seconds, the waiting time of 380 Torr which takes 120 seconds to 60 seconds, Charging the material originally took 80 seconds to 60 seconds, the circulation of the original material took 80 seconds to 60 seconds, the composition taking from 120 seconds to 100 seconds, and in the Torr vacuum stop process which took 120 seconds to 60 seconds. So that it can produce a total time of up to 1780 seconds to 1520 seconds, and it is carried out safely without ignoring the SOPs and Safety that apply in the company.

Abstract

PT. ABC faces a quality control issue with a defect rate of 5.5%, resulting in customer complaints. This study aims to identify the types of defects in sheet film products, analyze their root causes, and evaluate quality control measures to reduce defects. The research uses Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor the production process and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to analyze potential failures in the production system. The SPC analysis revealed that the most frequent defects were ILK Defect (501 rolls), followed by Thickness Defect (188 rolls) and Scratch Defect (100 rolls). The root causes of defects were identified using a fishbone diagram, which pointed to Method, Material, Machine, and Man as the main factors. FMEA results indicated that the primary cause of defects was an issue with the hopper on the machine, which caused material transfer delays, leading to V-ILK and Thickness Defects. This study recommends improving machine maintenance, revising operational procedures, and enhancing operator training to reduce defects and improve product quality

Abstract

Banten 1 Suralaya Power Plant is a Coal-Fired Steam Power Plant. The issue at hand is the high downtime of the coal pulverizer system, which experienced 195 failures across the seven coal pulverizer systems in 2023, resulting in a total downtime of 1,020.3 hours. This research focuses on Coal Pulverizer System C, which had the highest downtime, averaging 274 hours in 2023. The aim is to identify the factors causing the failures and to propose a maintenance scheduling plan. This research employs the Reliability Centered Maintenance method, which is a logical engineering process to determine maintenance tasks that will ensure a reliability system design under specific operating conditions in a particular operational environment using a downtime analysis approach. The proposed maintenance scheduling is based on the calculations of Mean Time Between Failure and Mean Time To Repair. Based on the downtime analysis, it is known that the performance of the Coal Pulverizer C system is still optimal with an average availability of 94%. A failure mode of the Coal Feeder component was identified with an RPN of 320 as the dominant cause of the damage. Additionally, from the Function Block Diagram and Logic Tree Analysis, 2 failure modes were found in category B (Outage Problem) and 5 failure modes in category C. (Economic Problem). With the Reliability Centered Maintenance method based on the calculations of Mean Time Between Failure and Mean Time To Repair, a maintenance schedule is proposed for the components of the Coal Pulverizer System C, namely: Pulverizer Body every 115 days, Pulverizer Motor every 76 days, Lube Oil System every 15 days, Coal Feeder every 25 days, Coal Feeder Motor every 57 days, Control Instrument & Indicator System for Pulverizer every 32 days, and Control Instrument & Indicator for Coal Feeder every 46 days.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a strategic role in the national economy, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. MSMEs often face various challenges that hinder the development of their businesses. Some of the main challenges faced by MSMEs include limited access to capital, lack of managerial skills, limited market access, low levels of technology adoption, and competitive pressures from local and global products. MSME Tempe Ibu Marsiyah has a very open potential to develop further, therefore a planned and sustainable development strategy is needed to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of MSMEs. One approach that can be used is the SWOT Analysis method (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). The SWOT analysis method is a methodology for finding the relationship between the company's external opportunities and threats, with the company's internal strengths and weaknesses (Gunawan, 2020). The function of SWOT analysis and competitive strategy is to analyze the weaknesses, strengths and competitive advantages of a business/company, which is carried out through an analysis of internal conditions, and is carried out through an analysis of the company's external conditions regarding the opportunities and threats faced by the company. SWOT Analysis Covers 4 Pillars of Internal & External Analysis, namely: Based on the results of the SWOT graph, UMKM Tempe Ibu Marsiyah is in quadrant 1, which is a Growth situation. This position shows that UMKM has internal strengths that support it to optimally utilize external opportunities. The recommended strategy for this condition is an Aggressive Strategy, which focuses on business development, expanding the market, increasing production, or strengthening competitive advantages to drive growth. In other words, UMKM Tempe Ibu Marsiyah is in good condition to take proactive steps to expand and strengthen the business. Based on the Results of the SWOT Analysis, the Application of SWOT to UMKM Tempe Ibu Marsiyah is the calculation results in the IFAS and EFAS tables with a comparison between strengths and weaknesses, the IFAS calculation shows that Strength is greater than Weakness. Meanwhile, the EFAS calculation shows that Opportunity is greater than Threat, thus Rumah Sayur UMKM must choose and use an aggressive or developing strategy, which includes conditions of strength and opportunity to be in a good position or SO Strategy where readiness for technology is also the most important factor in driving UMKM.

Abstract

PT BICC Berca Cables is a company engaged in cable manufacturing that has been established since 1995. The cable products produced are of various types, namely, (1) low voltage cables, (2) medium voltage cables, high voltage cables, and (3) fiber optic cables. The types of cables are differentiated based on the size of the cable diameter, the mixture of raw materials used, and the use of the function of the cable. Various types of products require different raw materials, including variations in type and quantity. This study aims to analyze the production layout system to improve production efficiency and quality and reduce work accidents. The problem with the layout of existing facilities at PT. BICC Berca Cables is that there is a delay in supplying raw materials from machine A to machine B because of the long distance. Determining an efficient and effective machine facility layout can minimize waste during the production process

Abstract

The development of the increasingly competitive manufacturing industry requires efficiency in various operational aspects, particularly in production costs. One significant cost component is Material Handling Costs (MHC), which can account for 30-75% of total production costs. PT XYZ, engaged in the clamp manufacturing industry, faces challenges in optimizing material handling costs. This investigation employs the Computerized Relative Allocation of Facilities Technique (CRAFT) to analyze and optimize MHC. The analysis results indicate that the total MHC at PT XYZ amounts to Rp 20,786,000, with the largest contribution coming from the material transfer between the Assembly Department and Quality Control. The considerable transfer distance and high transfer frequency are the main factors influencing material handling costs. The CRAFT method provides a comprehensive overview of material flow and transfer costs, that can serve as a basis for future facility layout optimization.
