Abstract

Helminthiasis is a disease caused by intestinal parasitic worms with a relatively high prevalence that spreads throughout Indonesia. While not fatal, this disease gradually affects the health and productivity of those infected through a decline in nutritional status. Its slow-progressing nature and tendency to be asymptomatic classify helminthiasis as a neglected disease. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 billion people are infected with Ascaris lumbricoides, 795 million people with Trichiuris trichiura, or 740 million people with hookworm. The results obtained from socialization activities conducted in Leupeung Ulee Alue Village, Aceh Besar, indicate that the community still has limited understanding of the dangers posed by helminthiasis and the factors that can lead to infection. This community engagement initiative aims to provide the residents of Leupeung Ulee Alue Village with a better understanding of this disease.

Abstract

The 3R-based waste management (reduce, reuse, recycle) carried out by children in Cot Mancang Village, Aceh Besar, has significant potential for replication elsewhere, thus requiring an in-depth study of its implementation. This community service aims to identify the social characteristics and participation capacity of children in Cot Mancang Village in waste management. It analyzes the children's perceptions of the health benefits of proper waste management. The service employs an educational approach and observation involving 20 school-aged children. The objectives of the service are to measure the level of understanding of children in Cot Mancang Village both before and after the socialization and to provide materials related to waste management. The results of the service show an improvement in the understanding of waste management among the children in Cot Mancang Village. This improvement is evident from the pre-test and post-test results conducted before and after the socialization. In conclusion, it is clear that socialization regarding waste management can enhance the children's understanding of proper waste management.

Abstract

Clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) is a series of actions implemented based on awareness, which is the result of the learning process. This behavior is key to shaping individuals, families, groups, or communities capable of maintaining their own health and actively contributing to creating optimal health conditions in their surroundings. For example, PHBS activities are carried out at SDN 2 ULIM involving 29 students from the 6th grade. The students' participation in these activities proves that health education significantly contributes to improving their understanding of clean and healthy living behavior. Through these activities, students can comprehend the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene and put it into practice in their daily lives. Therefore, it is crucial to broaden the scope of health education activities so that more students can gain in-depth knowledge about PHBS. Involving more participants, such as families and communities, can be a strategic step in creating an environment that supports a healthy lifestyle. Awareness of the importance of clean and healthy living behavior also needs to be widely socialized, perhaps through community programs or public campaigns. Thus, health messages can penetrate and be implemented by the wider community. In other words, health education activities not only serve to enhance knowledge but also as part of the effort to form sustainable positive behaviors towards achieving optimal public health

The Gerakan Peduli Kebersihan Mandiri (Kali Bersama) is an initiative carried out by the Pharmacy students of Singaperbangsa University Karawang with the aim of raising awareness among teenagers in Citra Kebun Mas Housing, Karawang about clean and healthy living behaviors, especially handwashing with soap. This research aims to improve teenagers' understanding of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) and proper handwashing techniques. The method used in this research is counseling, which includes education on the importance of PHBS and demonstration of proper handwashing techniques. The questionnaire results conducted after the counseling show that the majority of teenagers are aware of PHBS and apply it in their daily lives, but there is still a gap between knowledge and PHBS practices. Based on these results, it is recommended to adjust the timing of activities, involve faculty leaders, and provide adequate facilities for the handwashing program with soap in future activities.
