Abstract

The pandemic has transformed instructional practices from face-to-face to online learning paradigms. Reading is one crucial skill for students. However, many students perceive reading as challenging to be learned. Teachers need to adapt to this transformation and investigate numerous online learning platforms. One of the famous and valuable platforms is Zoom It includes features such as a chat box, breakout rooms, and shared documents. In data collection, the researcher uses observation, documentation, and interview techniques. This descriptive qualitative research explores the students’ views of zoom in teaching reading. The result revealed that the advantages of zoom in teaching reading are the students become enthusiastic in the learning process, more excited and enjoy learning. Several good answer were gained from the learners as zoom facilitated live-online interaction and boosted their interest in an online course. The disadvantages are the problem with the internet quota and signal; some students don’t understand the material in detail and cheat when doing the assignment.

Abstract

Recently there has been a number of consideration research on metacognition. However, little attention has drawn to metacognitive experiences especially in writing enterprises. In view of this, the present study investigated students’ metacognitive experiences gathered from their writing in English as a foreign language (EFL) course. A set of semi- structured interview was used as the database to , first, explain students’ judgments and feelings related to their mental effort, confidence, satisfaction, and task difficulty before, during, and after their cognitive process in writing and, secondly, the relations of students’ metacognitive experiences and their writing performance were also assessed. To this end, 10 voluntory students who have participated in the learning of writing course have been recruited to take part on the interview. A series of questions were given to the participants related to the metacognitive experiences that comprise metacognitive knowledge and metacognitive strategies they run while learning writing. The outcomes of the study showed that students had varied problems solving strategies reflected from the different individual’s control of the cognitive regulation. The findings also indicated that there were positive outcomes in favor of the metacognitive strategies used in the writing course particularly when the strategies were correlated to the manifestation of the metacognitive knowledge. This study has practical implications on the prominent of metacognitive experiences that can be activated in writing instructions to support learning achievement.

Abstract

The problem in this study is that the validity and reliability of the Sports Training Program Monitor application test are not known. The population in this study were all petanque athletes jawa tengah province and petanque coaches who were licensed at least at the provincial level which had a total of 114. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The sample in this study amounted to 30 samples. A total of 30 questions were asked. The results of this study are the calculated r value with n = 30 is 0.349, of the 30 questions submitted to the respondents, totaling 30 coaches and athletes, there are 26 questions that have a validity value of more than 0.349 and 4 questions have a value of less than 0.349. The reliability value of this instrument is 0.923 > 0.349, which means that this instrument is reliable. The conclusion from the results of the validity and reliability tests, based on those data, this instrument can be used on the condition that only 26 questions can be submitted to be used as test instruments for the Android-based monitor program sport training application.

Abstract

Learning English especially for listening is still considered as challenging area. It is due to the unavailability of suitable material of listening which is in accordance to the students’ needs. Moreover, students face the difficulty in listening, because they have no sufficient background about listening in their previous school. Therefore listening remains untouched in English teaching. Moreover, this study attempts to investigate the need analysis in developing a model of web 2.0-based Extensive Listening (EL) materials by students' need. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method in analyzing data. The questionnaires was used for collecting the data from 68 students in English Department in Berau, East Kalimantan. The results showed that 82.2% students chose the authentic materials for learning extensive listening. The finding also showed that the 86.9% students agree with web-based as a tool for extensive listening. The most of students chose fiction as a material for EL as Listening for pleasure learning. The students need to listen several of activities of listening; for instance: folklores such as history of the kingdom from the education web.

Abstract

One way to improve the quality of learning is by increasing the relevance of the teaching model. The teaching model is said to be relevant if in the process it can deliver students achieve educational goals. Therefore, efforts are needed to be able to convey the subject matter to students with models that are relevant to student needs. One alternative is to use a scaffolding-based inquiry learning model. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of a scaffolding-based inquiry learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of the tenth graders of SMA Kyai Ageng Basyariyah. The samples in this study were two classes, namely, class XA and XB which were selected using the cluster random sampling technique. This study uses a Quasi-Experimental Design research design. The form of quasi-experimental design used in this study is the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The data collection technique used in this study is a measurement technique. The results showed that the data were analyzed using the t-test at a significant level of 5%, namely the results of >, namely 1,932 > 1,701. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the use of the scaffolding-based inquiry learning model influences the mathematics learning outcomes of the tenth graders of SMA Kyai Ageng Basyariyah.

Abstract

This research on the professional football coach competency evaluation instrument was done because there was no existing instrument used to measure the test to select players’ competence in India (female and male). Subjects in this study, 18 male and 18 female players from India from a professional sports club were involved respectively. The physical characteristics of the participants are shown in this experimental study. The players performed a battery of four tests during normal weekly training. The research was in the period between January and March 2022 in quantitative method research. Motor capacity in detail, the speed was analyzed with a 20 m Sprint, the strength with a counter-movement without using the arms (CMJ), the resistance with the "YoYo Intermittent Recovery Test - Level 1 "(YYIR1),” and coordination with a test characterized by running, slalom with the ball, jumping of the obstacle 20 meters plus 20 meters. Before each, the protocol was explained and the correct technique was demonstrated; the speed, endurance, and coordination tests. We can illustrate this research as the use of standardized tests for twelve with execution in the first two days of the week of the typical week preceding the game. This study leads to the awareness that the various tests carried out repeatedly over time can be useful if stimulated adequately for the continuous improvement of performance and therefore not only used for the purpose to understand the physical qualities of individual players.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the differences in students' critical thinking ability after getting learning with Heuristic Strategies compared to the critical thinking ability of students who get mathematics learning with conventional learning, and how students behave towards mathematics learning with Polya heuristic strategies. This research used experimental methods. The population in this study was all grade VII students of SMPN 1 Muara Bungo, while the sample in this study was randomly selected by two classes. The instruments used in this study are tests of students' mathematical critical thinking ability and attitude scale. The test used is a description type test. The results of this study can be concluded that: (1) the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who get mathematics learning with polya Heuristic Strategies is better than students who get conventional learning models; and (2) siswa be positive towards mathematics learning by using Polya Heuristic Strategies.
