Abstract

The condition of premature babies is at risk of experiencing hemodynamic instability in terms of pulse, respiration and oxygen saturation. One of the actions taken to overcome the problem of hemodynamic instability in premature babies is to position the baby in a pronated position. The aim of the research was to analyze the effect of the pronation position in premature babies on hemodynamic changes in the NICU at Hospital. The results of the study found that the majority of male babies with SC delivery had an average gestational age of 34.17 weeks, an average birth weight of 1,867.57 grams and an average age of the baby 4.34 days. HR value (158.17 vs 147.48 145.20). RR (55.82 vs 48.57 vs 16.00). SpO2 (94.74 vs 100.0 vs 100.0). There is an influence of the pronation position on hemodynamic changes (HR, RR and SpO2) of premature babies before and after the pronation position is carried out in the NICU at Hospital It is hoped that nursing services can provide pronation as a complementary therapy that is appropriate, effective, safe and affordable for patients and easy to carry out by trained nurses so that it becomes one of the treatments that supports increasing HR, RR and SpO2 so that the implementation of the pronation position continues as an SOP in hospitals for premature and LBW babies.

Abstract

Hypertension is a common health problem among the elderly and increases the risk of complications. Management programs in nursing homes are not yet optimal due to limited physical activity among residents. Therefore, safe, simple, and self-care nonpharmacological interventions are needed, such as acupressure therapy. To determine the application of acupressure therapy in reducing blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension at Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 2 Social Home, Cengkareng. This study used a case study design. The intervention was conducted from January 13–15, 2026. Acupressure therapy was applied for approximately 30 minutes daily at specific points. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention using a sphygmomanometer. The results showed a decrease in blood pressure after three days of acupressure therapy. The average reduction in systolic blood pressure was ±11.4 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure was ±5.3 mmHg. Participants also reported reduced neck stiffness, improved sleep quality, and increased relaxation. Acupressure therapy is effective in lowering blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension and can be used as a safe, simple, and applicable nonpharmacological nursing intervention in nursing home settings.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the pregnancy complications that contributes significantly to the increasing maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rates, particularly in developing countries. In Baubau City, preeclampsia remains a common health problem and has the potential to cause serious complications if not managed appropriately. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of preeclampsia among housewives in the Delivery Room of Baubau City Regional General Hospital in 2025. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of all mothers diagnosed with preeclampsia who were treated in the Delivery Room of Baubau City Regional General Hospital. The sampling technique used was total sampling, involving 65 respondents. The data used were secondary data obtained from patients’ medical records. The dependent variable was the incidence of preeclampsia, while the independent variables included maternal age, parity, maternal disease history, family disease history, and maternal education level. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between maternal age (p-value = 0.689), parity (p-value = 0.304), maternal disease history (p-value = 0.161), family disease history (p-value = 0.161), and maternal education level (p-value = 0.706) with the incidence of preeclampsia. The logistic regression analysis also indicated that none of the independent variables had a significant effect on the incidence of preeclampsia, although maternal disease history tended to increase the risk. The conclusion of this study indicates that the incidence of preeclampsia is not influenced by a single specific factor but is multifactorial in nature. Therefore, early detection efforts and comprehensive pregnancy monitoring are necessary to prevent more severe complications.

Abstract

Hyperthermia in pediatric patients is a condition in which body temperature exceeds normal limits which can be caused by infection, inflammatory responses, or environmental factors. This condition requires quick and appropriate treatment to prevent complications such as seizures, fever and organ damage. This literature review aims to analyze the effectiveness of nonpharmacological cooling therapy on the body temperature stability of pediatric patients with hyperthermia. The method used is in the form of literature studies using sources or references in the form of national and international journals. The results of the literature review show that there are several effective nonpharmacological cooling techniques that help reduce the body temperature of pediatric patients with hyperthermia, namely evaporative cooling techniques, cooling baths, tepid sponge water, and oral cooling. These techniques work through the mechanism of evaporation, conduction, and body heat exchange so that they can help maintain the stability of the patient's body temperature. The conclusion of this review is that non-pharmacological cooling therapy can be used as an independent intervention or nursing action in helping to reduce and maintain body temperature stability in pediatric patients with hyperthermia.

Abstract

Mandibular fractures are common maxillofacial injuries that require stable osteosynthesis to restore occlusion, alignment, and mandibular function. Reconstruction plates are often selected for complex segmental or comminuted fractures because they provide load bearing support, yet their placement may require extensive exposure and greater soft tissue manipulation. Recent biomechanical and clinical evidence suggests that load sharing fixation with miniplates can offer sufficient stability in carefully selected cases. This case series reports two complex mandibular fractures treated with dual long 2.0 mm titanium miniplates without reconstruction plates. The first patient, a 28 year old man, had a segmental parasymphysis and corpus fracture with left subcondylar fracture and TMJ dislocation. The second patient, a 34 year old woman, had a comminuted left parasymphysis fracture extending to the corpus with contralateral condylar head fracture and TMJ dislocation. Both patients underwent open reduction and internal fixation using dual long miniplates along mandibular buttress lines. Anatomical reduction and satisfactory occlusion were achieved. Recovery was uneventful, without infection, malocclusion, or hardware failure. At two months, alignment, mouth opening, and function improved. Dual long 2.0 mm miniplates may provide a less invasive alternative when cortical contact and reduction are adequate. Future prospective studies are needed to confirm outcomes.

Abstract

Facial wash gel is a gel-based facial cleanser widely used because it is easy to apply and provides comfort to the skin. This preparation requires a gelling agent to form a gel structure, so alternative natural ingredients from cassava tubers and peels (Manihot esculenta) were used. This study aimed to determine the ability of cassava tubers and peels as gelling agents in facial wash gel formulations and to evaluate the physical characteristics of the resulting preparation. The research method involved making flour and starch from cassava tubers and peels, then formulating them into facial wash gel preparations and conducting physical evaluation tests. The organoleptic test results showed that F1–F4 were in the form of thick sediment and F5 was in the form of a gel with a brown and white color and a distinctive soapy smell. The pH test results showed values ranging from 7.6–8.7 with significant differences between formulas. The foam height test results showed values of 2.0–2.4 and did not differ significantly between formulas. The homogeneity test results showed that only F5 was homogeneous, while F1–F4 were not homogeneous. The cleaning power test results showed that all formulations were able to reduce stains, with F3 having the highest cleaning power value. The conclusion of this study shows that cassava tubers and skin (Manihot esculenta) can be formulated as a facial wash gel, but it has not formed an optimal gel due to insufficient concentration, even though it has met the cleaning power capability.

Abstract

The quality of family planning counseling plays an important role in helping clients choose appropriate contraceptive methods, particularly Long-Acting and Permanent Methods (LAPMs). However, the utilization of LAPMs remains lower than that of short-term contraceptive methods. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the quality of family planning counseling and the selection of LAPMs at PMB Desy Fitriyani. This study employed an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted at PMB Desy Fitriyani in May 2026 and involved 56 respondents selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through univariate and bivariate analyses using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α=0.05. The results showed that most respondents perceived the quality of family planning counseling as good (35 respondents; 62.5%), and most respondents chose LAPMs (32 respondents; 57.1%). The Chi-Square test revealed a p-value of 0.002 (p<0.05), indicating a significant relationship between the quality of family planning counseling and the selection of LAPMs. In conclusion, the quality of family planning counseling is associated with the selection of LAPMs. The better the quality of counseling received by clients, the greater the likelihood of choosing LAPMs. Therefore, improving the quality of counseling is essential to support the utilization of LAPMs.
