Abstract

The 2025 Aceh-Sumatra flood disaster not only caused physical and material impacts but also gave rise to complex psychological and social issues. In this context, emotional intelligence and empathy become crucial factors in building individual resilience and social solidarity. This study aims to examine the concept of emotional intelligence according to Daniel Goleman, analyze empathy as the core of social awareness, and integrate it with the perspective of the Qur'an. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. The primary data sources include the works of Daniel Goleman and the Qur'an, along with the Tafsir Fi Zhilal al-Qur'an by Sayyid Quthb, while secondary sources consist of relevant books and academic journals. Data analysis is conducted in a descriptive-analytical and integrative manner. The study findings show that Goleman's concept of emotional intelligence includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, which are interrelated. Empathy occupies a central position as a bridge between personal and social competencies. From the Qur'anic perspective, empathy is seen as a manifestation of faith reflected in brotherhood, social care, and gentleness of heart. The integration of Western theory and Islamic perspective demonstrates that empathy is not only a psychological skill but also a spiritual value that guides concrete actions in times of crisis. This research concludes that the integration of emotional intelligence and Qur'anic values can serve as the foundation for strengthening emotional and social education, as well as building a resilient and empathetic society in the face of disaster.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and describe the management of educational marketing strategies in increasing parents' interest at Al Hidayah Kindergarten in Pasuruan City. The high level of competition among early childhood education providers, especially in private kindergartens, requires administrators to implement appropriate and effective marketing strategies to attract parents’ attention. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research informants are the administrators of Al Hidayah Kindergarten, with the focus of the study directed at the educational marketing strategies implemented by the institution. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity tested using source and technique triangulation. The results show that the educational marketing strategy at Al Hidayah Kindergarten is carried out through the planning of flagship programs, setting affordable and flexible tuition fees, utilizing social media, interpersonal approaches to parents, and strengthening the school’s image by highlighting religious values and service quality. This strategy is considered effective in increasing parents’ interest and trust in the institution. The study is expected to provide practical contributions for early childhood education administrators in designing educational marketing strategies oriented toward community needs.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces serious challenges related to moral degradation, the weakening of social empathy, low self-control, and declining discipline among students, particularly in the context of globalization and digital culture. This article aims to analyze the values of character education contained in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad through a thematic study using the perspective of living sunnah. This study employs a qualitative approach with library research, focusing on thematic (maudhu‘i) analysis of hadith related to character education. Primary data are drawn from selected prophetic hadiths and supported by secondary sources, including scholarly books and journal articles discussing living sunnah, character education, and contemporary educational issues. The data are analyzed by classifying the hadiths according to the main themes of character education and interpreting them within the framework of living sunnah. The findings indicate that the concept of living sunnah views hadith as living values that are internalized through the habituation of attitudes and behaviors. The thematic analysis reveals three core character values, such as social character and empathy, self-control, and manners and discipline, which are closely interconnected in shaping students’ moral integrity, emotional maturity, and sense of responsibility. The study concludes that character education based on living sunnah offers a relevant and contextual framework for addressing contemporary moral challenges by transforming prophetic teachings into lived ethical practices.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse forms of juvenile delinquency in Indonesia through the perspective of humanistic theory, and to examine the relevance of the Love-Based Curriculum as a preventive and curative solution to juvenile delinquency. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach, data was collected through case analysis of digital newspapers, then analysed by comparing adolescent behavioural patterns against humanistic theories from experts. The research findings indicate that juvenile delinquency stems from unmet needs for affection, social acceptance, and self-esteem. A curriculum based on love is seen as capable of being a preventive strategy by instilling values of affection and acceptance in the education sector, and as a curative solution through empathetic guidance that can restore adolescents’ sense of self-worth. The implications of this research require a reformulation of the direction of national education towards a humanistic approach to create a generation of young people who are characterised by love and social responsibility.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of ushul fiqh in the formulation of contemporary Islamic law through an in-depth examination of four ijtihad methodologies: istihsan, maslahah mursalah, 'urf, and sadd al-zari'ah. The research employs a library research approach with content analysis methods applied to classical and contemporary ushul fiqh literature. Data is collected from primary sources, including classical ushul fiqh texts, and secondary sources such as relevant journals, books, and scholarly articles. The analysis is conducted descriptively-comparatively to identify the characteristics, applications, and relevance of each methodology in the context of contemporary Islamic law. The findings indicate that all four methods exhibit significant flexibility and applicability in addressing contemporary legal issues. Istihsan provides more just legal solutions through a substantive justice approach, maslahah mursalah allows for the formulation of laws based on public interests not explicitly mentioned in the texts, 'urf accommodates the social and cultural values of society, and sadd al-zari'ah serves as a preventive measure against potential harm. This research reveals that integrating these four methods within the framework of maqasid al-shari'ah can result in responsive, progressive legal rulings that remain rooted in the foundational principles of shari'ah. The study recommends the development of a methodological framework that integrates these four methods as an alternative solution to address the complexities of contemporary Islamic legal issues.

Abstract

The rapid development of science in the contemporary era demands a deep understanding of its philosophical foundations. This article aims to examine the foundations of scientific development from the perspective of the philosophy of science by analyzing its ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a literature review of classical and contemporary philosophy of science texts. The results of the study indicate that the ontological foundation provides an understanding of the nature of the reality studied by science, the epistemological foundation governs the way to acquire valid knowledge, while the axiological foundation determines the values and objectives of scientific development. These three foundations are interconnected and form a comprehensive framework for the responsible development of science. This research reveals that the integration of these three philosophical dimensions is essential to produce knowledge that is not only methodologically valid but also socially and ethically meaningful. The practical implication is the need for a holistic approach in scientific research that considers philosophical aspects alongside technical-methodological ones.

Abstract

Low learning outcomes in IPAS at the elementary school level remain a major problem, particularly due to the dominance of teacher-centered learning models that limit students’ active participation. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 20 Sintuk and SDN 15 Ampalu, Pariaman Utara District. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a Static Group Comparison Design. The population consisted of all fifth-grade students from both schools, and the samples were selected using a saturated sampling technique. SDN 20 Sintuk was assigned as the experimental class taught using the Problem Based Learning model, while SDN 15 Ampalu served as the control class taught using conventional learning. Data were collected through IPAS learning outcome tests and analyzed using a t-test. The results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class was 79, while the control class obtained an average score of 63. Hypothesis testing indicated that the calculated t-value (2.64) was greater than the t-table value (1.68) at a significance level of 0.05. These findings indicate that the Problem Based Learning model has a significant effect on improving IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of school principal leadership management in improving teacher performance through the BERKARISMA strategy (Quality-Oriented, Creative, Religious, Innovative, Courteous, Independent, and Trustworthy) at Sukorejo IV Public Elementary School, a small school with 76 students and 7 teachers. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used to describe the planning process, supporting and inhibiting factors, and the impact of the strategy. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with triangulation to ensure validity. The results show that the BERKARISMA strategy effectively addressed the limitations of the small school, improved teacher motivation and competencies, and reduced performance gaps (e.g., lesson planning improved from 68% to a more optimal level). Supporting factors included the principal’s role as a role model and team collaboration, while inhibiting factors involved limited resources. The impact was an improvement in the school climate and the quality of learning. This research contributes to the development of leadership models in small schools.

Abstract

The performance of elementary school teachers is a key factor in determining the quality of learning. However, the practice of academic supervision in schools is still largely administrative and has not fully functioned as reflective professional development. This study aims to analyze the implementation of clinical supervision with a lesson study approach to improve the performance of elementary school teachers and to understand the meaning of teachers’ reflective experiences during the supervision process. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include the principal and elementary school teachers directly involved in clinical supervision based on lesson study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document studies, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation to maintain data validity. The results of the study show that clinical supervision with lesson study was carried out collaboratively through the stages of planning, implementation, and joint reflection. The reflection process encouraged teachers to critically recognize the strengths and weaknesses of their teaching practices. Changes in teacher performance were not only demonstrated by improvements in lesson planning and teaching strategies but also by the development of reflective awareness and professional commitment. This study concludes that the integration of clinical supervision and lesson study is an effective strategy for sustainable professional development of teachers. The novelty of this study lies in revealing the meaning of teacher reflection as the core of performance change in clinical supervision based on lesson study.
