Abstract

Investment decisions are influenced not only by rational calculations but also by psychological biases that affect investor behavior. Grounded in behavioral finance and prospect theory, this study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy and overconfidence on investment decisions, with risk tolerance as a mediating variable. The research involved 250 stock investors in Bali Province, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that financial literacy and overconfidence each have a significant and positive effect on investment decisions. Furthermore, both variables also positively influence risk tolerance, which itself significantly impacts investment decision-making. Risk tolerance mediates the effects of financial literacy and overconfidence on investment decisions, indicating that knowledgeable and confident investors are more willing to take calculated risks aligned with their long-term financial goals. The study contributes theoretically to the development of behavioral finance by confirming the mediating role of risk tolerance in investment behavior. Practically, the findings suggest that financial education and awareness of overconfidence biases are essential in enhancing rational investment behavior. Policymakers and financial institutions are encouraged to develop targeted financial literacy programs and investor profiling tools based on risk tolerance to support more strategic and resilient investment decisions.

Abstract

Indonesia, the world's largest nickel producer, has enforced a nickel ore export ban since 2020 to promote domestic downstream processing. This policy surge has intensified port activities, especially in nickel ore logistics, leading to operational inefficiencies such as prolonged barge waiting times, demurrage penalties, and logistics delays at key ports like Lameruru, Southeast Sulawesi. This study applies Lean principles and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify waste and bottlenecks in nickel ore port operations. The research further develops a Genetic Algorithm (GA)-based optimization model to improve barge scheduling and minimize waiting times. Data collected from port operations, stakeholder interviews, and secondary sources reveal that waiting times at the jetty constitute the primary inefficiency, causing nearly half of shipments to incur demurrage. The GA optimization reduced total barge waiting time by 55%, increased immediate docking by 71%, and significantly decreased maximum waiting times, boosting port productivity and reducing costs. The Future State VSM reflects a 79.7% Process Cycle Efficiency, an improvement over the current 69.97%. Despite limitations such as reliance on static historical data and exclusion of real-time dynamic factors, this integrated Lean-VSM-GA approach demonstrates significant potential to enhance Indonesia’s nickel ore logistics, offering actionable strategies for port operators and policymakers to increase competitiveness in the global nickel industry.

Abstract

This study develops a predictive model for loan default in Indonesia’s multifinance industry by implementing and comparing three machine learning methods: Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine (SVM) with RBF kernel, and XGBoost. Using imbalanced datasets from three multifinance companies representing different portfolio characteristics vehicle, multipurpose, and electronics financing the research applies the SMOTE technique to address class imbalance and enhance model sensitivity. Results show that XGBoost outperforms both Logistic Regression and SVM in accuracy (0.9970), precision (0.9482), recall (0.9987), and AUC (0.9996), while also being the most computationally efficient. Feature importance analysis highlights late payment history, financial ratios, credit scores, and demographic variables as key predictors, with XGBoost capturing complex non-linear interactions. The study introduces a novel multi-layered framework for credit risk management, including scoring engines, early warning systems, and segment-based risk strategies. Segment analysis reveals higher default risks among younger, divorced, and less-educated borrowers, as well as for unsecured loans and high debt-to-income ratios. The model’s adaptability across varying institutional datasets demonstrates the need for company-specific calibration. Compared to previous single-model or single-company approaches, this research provides a comprehensive, scalable, and high-performing solution for predictive credit risk modeling in the Indonesian context. Simulation results suggest that the implementation of this framework could reduce NPF by up to 2.3 percentage points and enhance risk-adjusted returns by 3.8–4.2%, offering substantial practical value to multifinance companies.

Abstract

Indonesia has a tiered government structure from the national to local levels, where village governments play a strategic role in regulating and managing national development interests. The village head, as a leader elected by the community supported by the village apparatus, has a strategic role in realizing good public services at the village level. The quality of service and the achievement of village development targets are highly dependent on the optimal performance of village apparatus. However, based on data and interviews with village officials in Karangtengah District, Cianjur Regency, it was found that the phenomenon of complaints such as inadequate compensation and low digital literacy is still one of the obstacles in optimizing the performance of village officials in Karangtengah District, Cianjur Regency. This study aims to find out how compensation and digital literacy affect the performance of village apparatus in Karangtengah District, Cianjur Regency both simultaneously and partially. This study uses a quantitative method approach, with the purpose of research being causal descriptive. Data was collected through a survey from a sample of village apparatus taken from 16 villages as many as 118 people, then analyzed using the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) method to test the relationship between the variables studied. It is hoped that the results of this study can show that compensation and digital literacy have a significant influence on the performance of village apparatus. Thus, this research can make an important contribution to local governments in formulating policies that can support increasing compensation and digital literacy of village officials. With this policy, it is hoped that village officials will be able to work more optimally in providing services to the community.

Abstract

The examination of riots in Correctional Institutions and Detention Centers has so far only revealed the triggers of the riots, without exploring how riots can occur in Correctional Institutions and Detention Centers in Indonesia. This research was conducted on riots in the period 2001-2021 which had an impact on the riots, both in terms of casualties and large material impacts. Research on 8 (eight) Correctional Institutions and Detention Centers was aimed at exploring more fundamental problems in order to understand how riots can occur in Correctional Institutions and Detention Centers. Qualitative methodology was carried out in this research in order to obtain an in-depth study of the causes of the riots that occurred. The findings of this research indicate that the cause of the riots lies in the fundamental problem, namely the existence of corrupt practices in the structures that are formed formally and informally in the operationalization of Correctional Institutions and Detention Centers in Indonesia.

Abstract

The cost analysis between the wholesale wage system and work efficiency has special significance in housing projects, such as in Central Park Juanda Housing by PT. The Scarlet Witch is a saint. Through a quantitative approach, this study also contributes to the construction management literature related to workforce management in the field. This study used a sample of 45 respondents consisting of construction workers in the Central Park Juanda housing project, including foremen, handymen, and other field workers. Respondent profiles included gender distribution (82% male), age (dominant 31-41 years), education (47% high school/vocational school), competency certification (58% have certificates), and work experience (dominant 11-15 years). The questionnaire data was tested for validity using the Pearson method with a significance level of 5% and all items were declared valid (rh ? 0.3). Reliability was tested with Cronbach's alpha, and all variables (X1 to Y) were declared reliable (? ? 0.6). The results showed that all independent variables (X1: Labor, X2: Wages, X3: Materials, and X4: Projects) had a negative influence on project efficiency (Y). However, only the variable X4 (Project State) had a significant effect with a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05), while the other variables (X1, X2, and X3) were insignificant., then the data shown by the probability of significance of the ANOVA analysis was with a significance value of 0.021 < 0.05 thus Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning that simultaneously there was a significant influence. This shows that the state of the project plays an important role in influencing work efficiency, while labor, wholesale wages, and materials do not have a significant impact in the context of this study.

Abstract

The Indonesian automotive industry, known for its extensive supply chain and high resource consumption, demands operational strategies that promote both efficiency and sustainability. This study explores Sustainable Lean Manufacturing (SLM) as a strategic framework by identifying and prioritizing the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) necessary for its effective implementation. Using a mixed-method approach, the research applied the Delphi technique to gather expert consensus and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to rank the identified CSFs. Data were collected through three rounds involving expert panels from various automotive firms with over a decade of experience in lean and sustainability practices. Nineteen CSFs were identified and grouped into six dimensions: Management and Leadership, Human Resources Development, Sustainable Production Process, Environmental Management, Supply Chain Management, and Safety and Well-being. Results show that Management and Leadership is the most influential dimension (51%), with Top Management Commitment ranked as the top CSF (0.2740). The study's methodological novelty lies in combining Delphi and AHP for sector-specific validation, filling the research gap on SLM in Indonesia’s automotive industry. The findings offer a structured decision-making model for practitioners to implement SLM initiatives that align with both operational goals and sustainability regulations. Future research is encouraged to apply this model to other industries and adopt AI-based tools for adaptive strategy development.

Abstract

East Java Provincial Roads are vital infrastructure that supports the economic and social activities of the community. However, various road conditions, ranging from light to severe damage, are serious obstacles to the smooth running of transportation and economic activities. Limited maintenance budgets and increasing traffic burdens further exacerbate this problem. Therefore, determining the priority of road handling is a crucial step to ensure the effectiveness of the use of the budget and optimize the benefits for the community. Based on previous research, the determination of road handling priorities uses Multi-Criteria Analysis. This research aims to determine the priorities for handling roads in East Java Province by considering various factors. Influence factors will be divided into two major parts, namely policy factors and technical factors. What is considered in the policy factor is the conformity with the Strategic Plan of the East Java Provincial Public Works Office (Renstra) which contains the Priority Areas Policy for Development and the Regional Spatial Plan Policy (RTRW). For technical factors, considerations include road width, road stability conditions, traffic volume conditions, and degree of saturation. The results of the research are expected to be recommendations for local governments in formulating more effective and sustainable road management policies.

Abstract

Project governance is a critical component in the success of construction and infrastructure projects, particularly in complex environments. This study aims to analyze the influence of effective leadership, communication effectiveness, disclosure of information, and risk management capability and experience on project governance in Indonesia, while also examining the moderating role of project complexity. Using a quantitative approach with Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), data were collected through questionnaires from project professionals involved in construction projects. Results indicate that effective leadership, communication effectiveness, risk management capability and experience, and project complexity significantly influence project governance. However, disclosure of information did not show a significant impact. Furthermore, the moderating effect of project complexity on the relationships between effective leadership and project governance, as well as communication effectiveness and project governance, was found to be insignificant. These findings suggest that while project complexity directly affects governance, it does not strengthen or weaken the impact of leadership and communication on governance outcomes in this context. The study contributes a comprehensive empirical model integrating organizational, human, process, and technical factors affecting project governance and highlights the need for targeted leadership and communication strategies to enhance governance effectiveness. This research offers practical insights for improving transparency, accountability, and sustainability in project governance within Indonesia’s construction sector.
