Abstract

Islamic inheritance law is a critical subject within legal education, particularly for prospective lawyers and Muslim communities. However, many students at Universitas Brawijaya perceive this subject as complex and difficult to master. This study aims to explore students' perceptions of Islamic inheritance law and identify the key challenges they face in understanding it. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining quantitative data from Likert-scale questionnaires and qualitative input from open-ended responses. The study involved 182 active law students selected using the Isaac and Michael sampling formula. Results indicate that while students generally acknowledge the importance of the subject, they struggle with its complexity, abstract terminology, mathematical calculations, unstructured content, lack of Arabic proficiency, inadequate instructional strategies, and limited media support. Despite these barriers, a significant portion of students remain optimistic about mastering the subject. The findings highlight the need for empirically designed instructional models, practical learning tools, and improved pedagogical strategies. The implications of this study are essential for legal education reform, particularly in enhancing teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and professional competence in dealing with Islamic inheritance disputes.

Abstract

Cenderawasih Bay, located near the equator, is characterized by a local rainfall pattern largely influenced by the development of convective clouds along its coastal areas. This study aims to analyze the distribution patterns of convective clouds in the coastal region of Cenderawasih Bay using data from the Himawari-9 meteorological satellite. The research method employed the RGB (Red Green Blue) composite technique using SATAID software to visualize and interpret convective cloud dynamics. The results show that during the June 2023 period, cloud-top temperatures ranged from -50°C to -70°C, with cloud movements predominantly from east to west. Convective clouds were primarily observed over the coastal areas of Manokwari, Biak, Serui, and Nabire, with cloud growth occurring mostly at night until early morning. The vertical development of clouds in this period reached heights between 3.1 km and 15.5 km. In contrast, during November 2023, convective cloud activity was significantly lower, mainly limited to Manokwari and Biak, with similar nocturnal growth patterns and cloud heights ranging from 1.8 km to 15.1 km. The RGB day convective storms composite effectively identified ice particles in cloud tops, linking cloud distribution with potential rainfall events. The RGB 24-hour microphysics product was also useful in monitoring cloud-top temperature variations to assess severe weather potential. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of satellite-based RGB analysis in monitoring convective activity and its relation to localized precipitation, providing valuable insight for weather forecasting and disaster preparedness in the region.

Abstract

The alignment between educational and industrial needs is an important factor in driving economic growth and workforce readiness. In South Sumatra Province, vocational high schools and polytechnics play a crucial role in equipping students with the technical and practical skills necessary for employment in key sectors such as plantations, feed, oil and gas, and coal-based industries. However, there is a gap between the competencies offered by educational institutions and the demands of the growing industry, especially in emerging areas such as digital transformation and sustainability. This study aims to map the competence of vocational schools and polytechnics to leading industries in South Sumatra using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and input-output analysis. GIS is used to analyze the spatial distribution of educational institutions and their proximity to industrial centers, while input-output analysis assesses competency flows into industry-specific needs. Data on educational programs, graduate output, and industry requirements are compiled and analyzed to identify gaps and areas for improvement. The results reveal strong alignment in traditional industries such as rubber, palm oil, and mining, while significant gaps are observed in emerging areas such as green energy and digital technologies. Urban areas such as Palembang were found to have a higher concentration of educational institutions and diverse programs, while rural areas faced limited access to specialized training. The study emphasizes the importance of modernizing curriculum, investing in infrastructure, and encouraging industry-education collaboration to address these gaps.

Abstract

Public sector employee transfers often present challenges that can hinder individual performance and organizational effectiveness. This study conducts a systematic literature review to examine how perceived organizational support (POS) affects task performance following such transfers. Employing a structured search and thematic content analysis, 15 peer-reviewed studies from 2010 to 2025 were selected based on inclusion criteria emphasizing public sector relevance, POS, and task performance. The findings consistently show that POS positively influences task performance by fostering affective organizational commitment, psychological empowerment, adaptability, and motivation, which buffer the disruptive effects of relocation. The study reveals key mediators including job satisfaction, relational energy, and training transfer, as well as moderators such as perceived organizational competence (POC), employee adaptability, and the alignment between expected and received support. Unlike previous research that focused broadly on POS across sectors, this review offers a comparative perspective that highlights contextual variations across cultures, organizational structures, and transfer scenarios. The implications are twofold: for researchers, it identifies unexplored areas such as digital HR systems and longitudinal effects of POS in hybrid environments; for practitioners, it emphasizes the importance of strategic, tailored support systems to ensure smooth transitions and sustained performance. This review advances the organizational support literature by deepening understanding of the mechanisms and boundary conditions that shape the effectiveness of POS in public sector mobility.

Abstract

In an increasingly competitive organizational environment, employee commitment is essential for sustaining performance and achieving strategic goals. This study investigates the influence of challenge leadership and gratitude on employee commitment, with happiness as an intervening variable, among employees of PT. Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) Banyuwangi Branch. Employing a quantitative research design, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 138 purposively sampled respondents and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with SmartPLS 3.0. The study tested seven hypotheses involving direct and mediated relationships between the constructs. The results showed that challenge leadership has a significant direct and indirect (via happiness) impact on employee commitment, while gratitude significantly influences happiness but does not directly or indirectly affect employee commitment. Furthermore, happiness was not found to have a significant effect on employee commitment. The model demonstrated strong validity and reliability, with satisfactory fit indices. This study contributes to the literature by integrating emotional and leadership dimensions in the Indonesian context and emphasizing the conditional role of happiness as a non-linear or context-specific mediator. The findings suggest that to enhance employee commitment, organizations should prioritize leadership approaches that challenge and empower employees while fostering gratitude to improve workplace happiness. Future research is encouraged to explore moderating variables such as organizational culture or job autonomy and examine alternative mediators like psychological capital in broader industrial contexts.

Abstract

The decline in employee participation in the Bukit Asam Innovation Award (BAIA) at PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) signals the need to explore factors influencing innovation behavior. This study focuses on the role of organizational justice and ethical leadership in shaping employees’ innovative actions. A quantitative method was employed, using descriptive and causal approaches. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires distributed to 325 employees selected via stratified random sampling. Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 4.0 was applied to analyze the data. Descriptive analysis shows that organizational justice is perceived as “very high,” ethical leadership as “very good,” and innovation behavior as “good.” The hypothesis test results confirm that both organizational justice and ethical leadership significantly and positively influence innovation behavior, with a combined contribution of 72.1%. This demonstrates that a fair organizational climate and ethical leadership practices are essential drivers of innovation. The research provides practical implications for PTBA, especially in evaluating and enhancing policies related to fairness and leadership to foster a more innovative organizational culture. Moreover, the study contributes to the literature by empirically supporting the relationship between organizational justice, ethical leadership, and innovation behavior. It is recommended that future research explore similar variables in different company or industry contexts to validate and expand the findings.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of audit risk (AR) and professional skepticism (PS) on audit quality (AQ), with the utilization of information technology (UIT) as a moderating variable at Public Accountant Firms (PAF) in Jakarta. The novelty of this study lies in its examination of how technological integration may influence the relationship between auditor behavior and audit quality—a topic that remains underexplored in the Indonesian auditing context. This research employs a quantitative approach with 163 auditor respondents from both Big Four and non-Big Four PAFs. Data were analyzed using the SEM-PLS (Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares) method with SmartPLS 4.0. The results reveal that AR and PS significantly affect AQ, but UIT does not significantly moderate the relationship between AR or PS and AQ. These findings provide insights for PAFs to enhance audit quality by strengthening professional skepticism and managing audit risk effectively. While the moderating role of UIT was not supported, this suggests future research opportunities to explore other potential moderating variables or expand the scope to different regions or industries.
