Abstract

The ratification of Law No. 6 of 2014 concerning the development of rural environments has had a significant impact on the development of villages in Indonesia, among others, through the concept of a tourist village. Several villages have succeeded in developing the concept of tourism in a rural environment in an authentic and sustainable manner, while on the other hand, several villages seem to have followed the existing trend without carefully looking at the local environmental context. This paper presents the semi research community service activity carried out to understand better this phenomenon in Kampung Ngampel, Gentungan Village, Mojogedang District, Karanganyar Regency which is currently developing the concept of Organic Village Tourism. The activity is carried out with a focus on two things: developing the initial concept of tourism areas and training in tourism area management. This service activity was carried out with the full support of the community and resulted in several ideas. The final results of the training activities provide a clearer picture to the community regarding contextual and sustainable tourism village management.

Abstract

The farmer’s behavior in Demangan Village is not safe and healthy in carrying out agricultural activities especially on pesticide use starting from mixing, spraying, washing the equipment and dispose the pesticide bottles. Therefore, efforts are needed to form a safe farming village in three years by involving two partners, they were the Pos UKK Demang Jaya Sehat and Gapoktan Demang Jaya. In the third year, the partners have not been able to carry out the work program independently, the synergy with the government and community health center is needed. The community service team helps activities through the FGD method and assistance with partners, governments, and community health centers. At the end of the activity, an evaluation of the achievements and obstacles to be followed up. Based on the activities that have been carried out, the government and community health centers contribute to the partner’s work program such as fulfilling facilities (utilization of village halls for meetings, crooked land for planting lemongrass, and BUMDES for the operation of Pos UKK and sales citronella oil), funding (purchase of materials and completeness of RSBP), human resources (assistance, monitoring, education, and active participation), and administration (data provision). So partners can carry out work programs properly, the role of the Pos UKK as implementing basic health services and Gapoktan as organic farming actors. Synergy is needed to maintain program sustainability.

Abstract

Women Farmers Group (KWT) is a forum that provides opportunities for women to participate in advancing the agricultural sector. KWT D’Shafa as a PKM activity partner is a forum for women in the Duren Sawit area of East Jakarta based on urban farming. Apart from this, KWT D’Shafa also has a business sector for processing crops and catering. Problems with this KWT include: the minimum number of KWT members; management of potential urban farming land that has not been utilized optimally; limited knowledge of KWT members in business management knowledge; the system for recording partner members, harvests, and product sales is still manual; lack of partner knowledge about appropriate marketing communications in promoting KWT D’Shafa and the results of urban farming management. Community service activities are carried out by socializing the existence of partners and the benefits of urban farming in the community. Making hydroponic installations is carried out in the management of potential urban farming land. Then training activities and business management assistance are carried out to maximize crop yields and processed products into economic and productive value. The system for recording partner members, harvests, and product sales uses a web-based application, namely the Google Site, which is effective and efficient. The next activity is marketing communication training, especially appropriate digital marketing in promoting the D’Shafa Women’s Farmer Group and the results of urban farming management. The digital platforms managed by KWT D’Shafa in this activity include websites and social media (Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok and Youtube). With this PKM activity, it is able to improve the welfare of the KWT D’Shafa family.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a progressive chronic disease. DM is a disease with the category of non-communicable disease or a disease that is not caused by an infectious disease. Prolonged hyperglycemia has an impact on the development of microvascular and macrovascular complications, resulting in various problems, dissability and decreased quality of life. Regular and safe physical exercise is a therapy that can reduce glucose. However, not all people with diabetes are allowed to exercise. There are several provisions that must be observed to avoid side effects after exercise, such as hypoglycemia. Because DM is a disease with metabolic disorders, it is possible for patients to have complications, such as hypertension and coronary heart disease as common complications of DM. Not all people with DM understand the provisions that must be considered before doing exercise. Therefore, counselling is the most appropriate activity to provide information to patients with DM about the provisions that have to be considered before exercising. Counselling activities are expected to be followed up by patients with DM to do physical exercise or sports regularly and pay attention to their own condition. So that it can reduce the risk of developing DM and its complications and improve the quality of life of patients with DM.

Abstract

The use of agrochemicals is still an option in terms of providing fast nutrition and increasing plant growth more efficiently to a certain extent. However, its continuous use results in a decrease in soil quality and soil fertility, which in turn causes the accumulation of heavy metal ions in plant tissues, and affects nutritional yields and food safety. The community service activities were carried out by the SBF (Soil Biodiversity and Fertility) team of the Jember University Soil Science study program in Karangrejo Village, Gumukmas District, Jember Regency. Field visits were conducted on farmers' fields to review, evaluate and discuss qualitative characteristics of soil properties. This service activity aims to increase understanding of sustainable soil fertility management and training in making liquid organic fertilizer based on a local bacterial consortium. The results of the activity showed that farmers' knowledge of the parameters of soil properties, especially pH, nutrients, and soil organic matter, was still minimal. The level of acidity (pH) of the soil determines the factors of production through the ease with which nutrients are absorbed by plants as well as the possibility of the presence of toxic elements that can interfere with plant growth. Knowledge of soil pH is needed in relation to nutrient management and liming. A deeper understanding of several parameters of soil properties, especially soil pH values, needs to be emphasized and followed up through mentoring activities. Mentoring activities as follow-up activities for farmer groups are carried out with the target output of liquid organic fertilizer products. Entrepreneurship training for farmer groups members also needs to be carried out to build an entrepreneurial spirit and added value from livestock products by farmers so that the farmer's household economy can sustainable.
