Abstract

A community service program based on the utilization of family medicinal plants (TOGA) serves as a strategic approach to improving health literacy and economic independence among women in urban areas. Background: Although TOGA is an essential part of Indonesia’s cultural heritage, its community-level application remains limited due to restricted land availability, low cultivation skills, inadequate hygienic processing practices, and limited entrepreneurial capacity. Purpose: This program aims to empower women by optimizing the use of TOGA and developing innovative local herbal products to enhance health literacy and strengthen economic independence. Methods: The program was conducted over eight months in 2025 and involved 15 participants aged 25–60 years. The implementation included training on TOGA cultivation using vertical and hydroponic techniques, training on processing rhizomes into instant herbal beverages with simple technology and food sanitation principles, and entrepreneurship training covering branding, digital marketing, and environmentally friendly packaging design. Evaluation methods consisted of pre-tests, post-tests, direct observation, and participant feedback. Results: Significant improvements were observed across multiple indicators, including increases in TOGA knowledge (52–85), awareness of benefits (58–90), cultivation skills (60–80), and daily utilization (58–85). Knowledge related to herbal products also improved, including perceptions of benefits (60–95), product variety (55–85), production processes (70–88), and business opportunities (62–90), while entrepreneurial understanding increased by 27–35 points. Conclusion: The program effectively enhanced participants’ health literacy, technical skills, product innovation, and entrepreneurial readiness while contributing to the achievement of SDG 3, SDG 8, and SDG 12. Recommendations: Program sustainability may be strengthened through the establishment of collaborative business groups and the expansion of digital marketing networks to increase the economic impact of local herbal-based empowerment initiatives.

Abstract

The purpose of this program is to increase the understanding of mothers under five and posyandu cadres about the benefits of cassava as an alternative source of carbohydrates and to introduce high-protein cassava noodle formulations that can be produced independently at the household level. The object of the activity includes the Team PKK Pokja 4, Posyandu Cadre, and Health cadres in partner villages. In addition, the advocacy for processing cassava noodles based on high-protein local foods was developed as an effort to fulfill the nutritional needs of toddlers through Supplementary Feeding (PMT), which is easily accepted by the community and supports family food security. The methods used include a participatory approach through family nutrition socialization, cassava noodle processing demonstrations, and targeted group discussions to explore community perceptions and needs. Data was collected through observations, brief interviews, and product acceptance assessments. Advocacy is applied by providing training in the processing of cassava noodles with 30% theoretical and 70% practical. Appropriate Technology/TTG is downstreamed to participants in the hope that the knowledge gained can be sustainable. The results of the activity showed that high-protein cassava noodles were well received by mothers under five because they were considered a nutritious dietary supplement variation, easy to make, and used affordable local ingredients. Posyandu cadres also expressed their readiness to integrate this innovation into the routine PMT menu. It is recommended that the production of cassava noodles be facilitated through advanced training, support for simple tools, and collaboration with PKK and local food UMKM to ensure its sustainability. In addition, it is necessary to conduct a more comprehensive nutritional content test and monitoring of the impact on the nutritional status of toddlers to strengthen the scientific basis of the program.

Abstract

This program aims to improve students' reading literacy by strengthening teachers' professional competencies in conducting relevant and contextual diagnostic assessments of reading difficulties in multilingual and multicultural environments. The main challenges in the field are teachers' lack of understanding of effective diagnostic assessment concepts and methods, as well as the limited availability of structured assessment tools. In the context of globalization, reading skills are a major factor in students' academic success and adaptation. This activity includes seminars, theoretical and practical training, and assistance in developing valid and reliable diagnostic instruments. The community service activity was held on August 3 to 7, 2025, involving 40 teachers from various educational backgrounds. Teachers were trained to accurately identify students' reading difficulties so that learning interventions could be designed in a targeted and sustainable manner. The results of this activity showed an increase in teachers' understanding of the concept of diagnostic assessment and higher student reading motivation. Teachers acquired practical skills in developing and using diagnostic instruments that can be used on an ongoing basis. This increase in competence is expected to strengthen the position of schools as adaptive and data-driven educational institutions. Thus, this program can make a real contribution to improving the quality of reading literacy and supporting the sustainable development of international education in Indonesian schools abroad.

Abstract

Jamaah Tani Muhammadiyah (JATAM) Gondosuli, a farmer located in the foothills of Mount Merapi, Indonesia, faces challenges in expanding market reach and professionalizing agricultural marketing. Despite fertile conditions and melons as a primary commodity, traditional marketing methods, limited organizational documentation, and low digital literacy constrain growth. This study aims to optimize JATAM’s communication and marketing strategies by integrating principles of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC), enhancing English language proficiency, and leveraging digital platforms. A mixed-method approach was employed, including training interventions, pre- and post-assessments of marketing and management competencies,  as well as monitoring of digital engagement metrics. 30 participants from JATAM members involved in MelonMu Edukreatif activities, with data collected through structured assessments, interviews, and digital analytics. Results indicate significant improvements: post-training assessments showed increased knowledge and skills in marketing communication and institutional management, while digital engagement metrics demonstrated wider audience reach and higher brand visibilit. Integrating IMC principles enabled consistent messaging across traditional and digital channels, enhancing consumer trust and professional identity. English-language content facilitated access to broader national and international markets, supporting strategic partnerships and export opportunities. Thes study concludes that combining traditional and digital strategies, supported by capacity building and and systematic, monitoring, effectively strengthens local agricultural marketing. Recommendations include continued English and digital literacy training, expansion of digital marketing initiatives, and ongoing evaluation of Return on Investment (ROI) to ensure sustainable growth and economic resilience for farmer groups. These findings highlight the critical role of structured communication, language proficiency, and digital integration in enhancing community-based agricultural programs.
