Abstract

This research aims to increase interest in learning mathematics in class XI students at SMA Muhammadiyah Mlati in the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year by implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This research uses a classroom action research method with a qualitative approach, involving 30 students as research subjects. Data collection methods include observation, questionnaires, and tests. Observations were made to understand students' learning interests, while questionnaires and tests were used to assess mastery of the Matrix material and the effectiveness of learning using the CTL model. Data analysis includes observation analysis, questionnaire analysis, and learning evaluation. This research shows the results of an increase after implementing the CTL model in Matrix learning in class XI MIPA. By implementing the CTL model, students' interest in learning increased, as evidenced by the results of observations which showed an increase in scores from the initial stage, cycle I, to cycle II, with a score reaching 3.62 which was categorized as very high. Students' ability to understand Matrix material also increased to reach an average score of 78.27 in cycle II.

Abstract

Education plays an important role in forming a generation that is competitive and superior amidst the complexity of the era of globalization. Ki Hajar Dewantara, who came from a noble lineage from the Yogyakarta Palace, devoted himself to education with full commitment. His philosophical doctrine of National Education reflects his belief that education functions as a pathway that guides individuals towards optimal well-being and happiness in society. According to Dewantara, education functions as a compass for the development of each student, not only depending on the will or authority of the teacher. Currently, the government is formulating a new educational paradigm that features flexibility for educators to adapt classroom teaching, using the Teaching at the Appropriate Level (TaRL) methodology. The correspondence between the characteristics of this new educational framework and Dewantara's educational principles fosters new optimism in the progress of Indonesian education. This study uses a literature review method to assess the resonance between the new educational paradigm and its practical implementation. The findings reveal a harmonious alignment between Ki Hajar Dewantara's philosophical teachings and the application of TaRL within the framework of modern education at the secondary school level. Therefore, integrating TaRL into the educational environment is a real step in realizing Dewantara's vision of building an inclusive and progressive educational landscape.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for teaching materials that are suitable for use in the 21st century, such as utilizing technology in using teaching materials for classroom learning. The use of teaching materials such as worksheets at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta has implemented a scientific approach but has not been combined with the use of technology. The use of technology in learning is very diverse and can be realized in various supporting applications, one of which is flipbooks. Therefore, it is necessary to use scientific worksheets using the flipbook application. This research designs scientifically based flip worksheets for the subject Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables that are valid and practical at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta. Research and Development Methods using the ADDIE model will help achieve the objectives of this research accurately. With the support of instruments such as subject matter experts, media experts, and input from class VIII students, the development of flip worksheets produced very valid results in terms of content and media, with percentages of 94.23% and 90.00% respectively. Meanwhile, for the practical aspect, students gave a percentage of 72.60%, categorizing flip worksheets that were designed as practical.
