Abstract

Cancer is a degenerative disease that has claimed many victims. Currently breast cancer is the second most common cancer that causes death after lung cancer and is the most common cancer suffered by women. Treatment of breast cancer is generally done with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy and surgery. Several synthetic drugs have been used to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. However, these drugs have dangerous side effects for the body so other alternatives are needed, including developing drugs derived from plants. To predict the activity of compounds from plants that have potential as anti-breast cancer, the molecular docking method was used. This review aims to inform compounds that have the potential as anti-breast cancer based on the results of molecular docking. The research method used was a literature study of 15 journals searched on the Google Scholar and Google databases related to molecular docking of breast anticancer compounds. The results of the review show that several compounds have the potential to inhibit breast cancer receptors including mangiferin compounds which are the best at inhibiting HER-2 receptors, quercetin glycoside compounds which are the best at inhibiting Bcl-2 receptors, quinine compounds which are the best at inhibiting ER-α receptors, compounds 6,7 -dihydro-17-hydroxyerisotrin is the best at inhibiting EGFR receptors, curcumin compounds are the best at inhibiting COX-2 receptors and eugenol compounds are the best at inhibiting ER-β receptors.

Abstract

Depression is a mental health disorder that often occurs to anyone regardless of age. Treatment of depression can be done with psychotherapy, administration of antidepressants, or a combination of both. However, the use of antidepressants is believed to increase the risk of suicidal behavior and ideation, especially in adolescent patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of antidepressant therapy on the risk of suicide in adolescents. This research was conducted using the Literature Review method using the Google Scholar database. Articles obtained from the search process were then re-selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, so that 5 articles that match the criteria were obtained. The results of the study show that giving antidepressant drugs to patients can increase or decrease the risk of suicide in patients. Patients aged <18 years (children and adolescents) are considered to have a greater risk of suicide compared to adult and geriatric patients. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of antidepressant drugs must be done wisely. Patients need to receive supervision and support from the closest people in using antidepressant drugs to avoid the risk of suicide in patients.

Abstract

Preservatives are food additives that can inhibit the growth of microorganisms so that food does not get stale easily. Sodium benzoate is one of the preservatives that is allowed to be used in food but within a predetermined limit of <1 g / kg according to BPOM RI. The purpose of this review is to find out an overview and provide information about the method of analyzing sodium benzoate levels in food and comparing the results with the provisions. The method used is literature review from various journals with a span of 10 years. The results of this study, the method of analyzing sodium benzoate in food can be carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative tests can use the addition of FeCl3, test kits, and KLT, while quantitative tests can use KCKT, spectrophotometry UV-Vis and titration. The samples studied from 11 journals obtained were syrup, sauce (tomato and chili), soy sauce, beverage and strawberry jam products produced industrially and/or home-produced. The conclusion of the various methods tested is that there are still many food producers who use sodium benzoate as a preservative, but not all samples studied are in accordance with the provisions

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease caused by damage to the pancreas organ such as insulin secretion abnormalities, insulin resistance, and insufficient production of the hormone insulin which can cause an increase in blood glucose levels. To overcome this, people with diabetes mellitus need antidiabetic drugs. In general, these drugs work by controlling sugar levels in the body. Although there are various therapeutic options for treating diabetes mellitus, there are often side effects that can be detrimental. Therefore there is a need for effective treatment, and the use of natural products is recommended as an alternative treatment method. This study aims to find natural product compounds that have medicinal potential as an alternative treatment for diabetes mellitus. The method used in this review is by searching published scientific literature in the form of PubMed, Elsevier journals, NCBI, and Google Scholar by differentiating the exclusions that have been set. The results of this review show positive results where there are various natural compound compounds that have potential as antidiabetic drugs. However, this is still limited to molecular docking, so further studies are needed.

Abstract

Folic acid plays an important role for the health of mothers and babies, especially in the growth and development of the fetus. Based on several previous studies, it was found that prenatal folic acid deficiency or excess can increase the risk of Autism Spectrum Disease (ASD) in infants. This raises concerns about the adverse effects of prenatal folic acid supplements including an increased risk of ASD. Therefore, this literature review article was created to further explore the implications or involvement of maternal folic acid supplementation on the risk of ASD in their offspring. The Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Connected Papers electronic databases were used to find literature that met the criteria. The results of this review found a potential beneficial effect of prenatal folic acid supplementation on the risk of developing ASD, although conflicting results have been reported. In summary, this literature review article demonstrates that prenatal folic acid supplementation can significantly reduce the risk of ASD in offspring compared to women without prenatal folic acid supplementation.
