Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Galombang dance extracurricular activities at MTsN 6 Solok Selatan. This research is qualitative in nature with a descriptive method employed. The research instrument is the researcher themselves, assisted by supporting instruments such as writing tools and a camera. Data was collected through literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. The steps for analysing the data are data collection, data analysis and data reduction. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Galombang dance extracurricular activities was well-coordinated according to the programme created by the Coach, including the schedule, timing and objectives of the programme. The Galombang dance extracurricular activities were held six times, on Thursdays and Saturdays each week. The implementation of extracurricular activities can run well and strives to be as effective as possible according to the schedule, although there are some challenges with a few students being less disciplined. This, of course, becomes an obstacle in the execution of extracurricular activities, so support from the school is needed to overcome these challenges. In addition, teachers also motivate students so that they are enthusiastic, always present, and energetic at every meeting. Based on the evaluation results, the students' success in each training session continues to improve, and the achievement of training targets is also met. Even after six sessions, students are already able to perform the Galombang dance, which is demonstrated by their performance during the talent and interest show.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of creative dance extracurricular activities at SMKS Nusatama Padang, including the objectives of the activities, the training process, and the challenges faced along with the solutions implemented. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consist of extracurricular mentors and students participating in creative dance activities. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the creative dance extracurricular activities at SMKS Nusatama Padang consist of three stages: the planning stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. The planning of creative dance extracurricular activities at SMKS Nusatama Padang consists of a schedule of implementation, training materials, and activity objectives which have been clearly designed so that the activities can proceed according to the established plan. The implementation of creative dance extracurricular activities begins with student registration to participate in the creative dance extracurricular, conducting independent practice using YouTube, repeating dance movements that have been learned, and performing dances at guest welcoming events. These creative dance extracurricular activities are showcased at school farewell events, national day commemorations, guest welcoming events and art performances. However, in its implementation, there are several obstacles, such as limited practice time, differences in student abilities, lack of facilities, and uneven student motivation. To overcome these obstacles, the instructor managed time more effectively, provided varied practice methods, and enhanced student motivation through a communicative and appreciative approach. Thus, the creative dance extracurricular activities at SMKS Nusatama Padang play an important role in developing students' non-academic potential and supporting the formation of students' creative, disciplined, and confident character.

Abstract

Sonde Dance at the Riza Mandau Studio. The type of research used is qualitative research with a descriptive method. The research instrument is the researcher themselves, assisted by writing tools and a camera. Data is collected through literature studies, observation, interviews and documentation. The steps in analysing the data are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the preservation strategy of the Sonde Dance implemented by the Riza Mandau Studio is carried out through two main approaches, namely internal preservation and external preservation. The internal preservation strategy is realised through regular coaching and training activities for studio members, especially the younger generation. In this process, the instructor not only teaches dance movement techniques but also instills the cultural values contained in the Joget Sonde Dance. In addition, internal preservation is also evident in efforts to maintain the authenticity of the dance form, the accompaniment of traditional music, and the interaction patterns within the performance. This activity demonstrates that the preservation strategy focuses on the process of cultural transmission directly from generation to generation within the studio environment. Meanwhile, the external preservation strategy is carried out through the studio's involvement in various activities outside the internal environment, such as performances in cultural events, festivals, and government activities, as well as collaboration with educational institutions and related agencies. Through this activity, the Joget Sonde dance is introduced to the wider community, thereby increasing its appreciation and existence amidst the developments of the times. Support from external parties also becomes an important factor in strengthening the sustainability of its preservation.
