Abstract

The people in Kampung Purun, Kota Banjarbaru, depend on creative economic activities based on purun plants. This study aims to analyze the sustainability of the purun plant-based creative economy in the midst of the existence of a diamond mining company in Kampung Purun, Banjarbaru City. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data collection techniques using participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that creative economic activities through purun woven which the people of Kampung Purun began to develop in 2016 were able to have a positive impact on the community's economy, namely increasing the community's income sources. Purun woven has been highlighted by various parties and circles, one of which is the Banjarbaru City Government which provides support and training for craftsmen to be able to develop purun woven products. Until now there are seven galleries in Purun Village, which accommodate the results of community purun woven. However, behind the progress and success of purun woven-based creative economic activities in Purun Village, there is a big problem regarding its sustainability. Sustainability is on the brink due to the depletion of sources of raw materials (purun plants). The craftsmen do not have their own land for planting purun, making it difficult for the craftsmen to meet the demand for purun raw materials. It was compounded by the fact that the locations where students took purun were in the area of a diamond mining company. This fact made the purun-based creative economy in Kampung Purun even more threatened.

Abstract

Yayasan Kesejahteraan Tunanetra Nusantara and the Kompleks Disabilitas Banjarbaru are implementing empowerment programs for the visually impaired community in Banjarbaru City. This study aims to analyze the strategic approaches applied and the successes achieved by both institutions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study research design in two different locations. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the empowerment programs for the visually impaired community from both institutions have not reached an ideal level of empowerment. The strategic approaches applied by both institutions include enabling and empowering approaches, while protecting approaches are not yet evident. Enabling or fostering an empowered climate is done through the provision of literacy spaces, information dissemination, and partnerships with the government and private sectors. Empowering activities are carried out through coaching and training in production and packaging, human resources, and technology. The empowerment programs carried out by both institutions have been able to increase the confidence and skills of visually impaired people to be self-reliant, which has resulted in increased income for some of those who have been empowered. However, protective efforts are not yet evident due to the unequal business competition that exists in both institutions. The approach used by YKTN and Pertuni has not always been able to improve the quality of life for blind people, but instead has made them lazy to make better use of themselves. The attitude of charity given by the community to the blind has made most of them more comfortable living on the streets by continuing to beg. Thus, there was a paradox of empowerment in the city of Banjarbaru.

Abstract

Natural resource monopoly packaged in the form of delegation of management rights from the state to companies has resulted in complex problems, which have led to the erosion of people's livelihoods. This study aims to determine the form of monopoly on natural resources carried out by companies in the perspective of the greedy theory and how it impacts the people's livelihood from the perspective of ecological transformation. This study uses qualitative research with a case study research type. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the form of natural resource monopoly in Sebamban Baru Village started with the granting of forest management rights to PT. Kirana Equator. Furthermore PT. Kirana Khatulistiwa transferred management rights to PT. HRB and PT. BIB. Then PT. HRB planted acacia, while PT. BIB uses it for mining activities. In this case, the community has no power in determining the direction of natural resource management in Sebamban Baru Village. Management of natural resources carried out by PT. BIB has led to the erosion of community livelihood sustainability, one of which is due to river pollution from insufficient company waste storage so that it spills into the river. This condition led to the difficulty of clean water being faced by the community and the loss of the community's economic resources from the river. Meanwhile, natural resources management carried out by PT. HRB resulted in the loss of the community's source of life from the land claimed by PT. HRB. Where land managed by the community is declared included in the HTI concession. As a result, people have lost access to land for farming and other economic resources. The monopoly on natural resources leaves an impact on the declining level of the people's economy due to the loss of economic resources that play an important role.

Or in other words, some transvestites play different roles between their backstage and frontstage due to their identity as transvestites. The front stage of waria singers almost all plays the front stage well, which is done like dressing men in front of the family and praying in the men's row. The stage behind the transvestite singer truly expresses herself as a woman with all the personality and changes in appearance, including her distinctive style of dress and way of speaking. So then waria expressed this sexual orientation selection through the way they dressed, where waria subjects in this study stated that their sexual orientation was directed towards men.

As well as the existence of a latent function of the Pemuda Membangun Desa (PMD) such as the concern for the community outside the Sungai Dua Laut Village area for the condition of the people of Sungai Dua Laut Village and the process of community acceptance of foreigners. Then there is a manifest concept of the rise of the Pemuda Sahabat Laut (PSL) organization which then has monitoring of the coastal and marine environment and the existence of tour guides carried out by members of Pemuda Sahabat Laut (PSL).

Abstract

The Dayak tribe has a unique cultural heritage in the form of buildings on the Barito River namely lanting or floating houses. This study aims to examine the representation of the mutual relationship between humans and nature in the vernacular architecture of the lanting house. This study used a qualitative approach, with a field research types and descriptive research-based. This research was carried out from June to July 2022 in Muara Bakanon Village, Permata Intan District, Murung Raya Regency. Data collection techniques using participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that although the size of the lanting houses in Muara Bakanon Village are different, in terms of the shape of the lanting houses they have not changed much from the past until now. Communities living on the banks of the Barito River build lanting houses as a form of utilizing the river area. In the study of cultural ecology, nature has an influence on culture and human behavior, such as the existence of a lanting house which is a form of adaptation for people living on the banks of rivers which often experience (annual) flooding. Lanting through vernacular architecture is one way to reduce the impact caused by flooding. The community will have no trouble when a flood occurs because the lanting is designed not to be drowned by flood waters. So it can be said that nature has a great influence on people's lives. However, the community in practice has not been able to provide positive benefits to nature, because basically people just use nature for the benefit of survival.

Tawahan Village is the Ring 1 Village of PT Balangan Coal, so it is directly affected by mining activities, both social and environmental impacts. This research aims to analyse the reality of the programme implemented by PT Balangan Coal's CSR. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study research type. The research was carried out in February-April 2023, in Tawahan Village, Juai District, Balangan Regency. Data collection techniques using observation, indepth interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the community empowerment program by CSR PT. Balangan Coal does not suitable with the characteristics and needs of the community. The programs implemented ignore efforts to protect the interests of the community to develop or become empowered. The positive impact of CSR Program by PT. Balangan Coal is not really felt by the community, while the negative impact of the company's activities continues to be felt by the community, such as dust, blasting vibrations, noise, and to damage community agricultural plants. Before the existence of coal mining companies, the livelihood of the Tawahan Village community depended on nature. The village government and the community hope that in the future there will be deliberations in determining the programme to suit the needs and characteristics of the community, because so far the village government and the community have not been included in determining the CSR programme to be implemented. This research provides a critical perspective on the implementation of CSR programmes that are more beneficial to the community.
