Abstract

The problem underlying this research is the lack of understanding and interest of students in the science learning process and the lack of learning media used as open materials at SMPN 7 Polewali. Therefore, one effort that can be done is to develop LKPD based on a scientific approach so that students can follow or understand, and be interested in the science learning process. This study aims to determine the design of LKPD development, the feasibility of LKPD and student responses to LKPD based on the developed scientific approach. The type of research used is research and development (Research and development) which refers to the ADDIE model. The object used in this study is the Student Worksheet (LKPD) with the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of the instruments used in this study are validation sheets and student response questionnaires. The results of the study show that: (1) the design of the development of LKPD based on a scientific approach is in the very feasible category, (2) the feasibility of LKPD based on a scientific approach as assessed by media design experts is in the very feasible category (86%), material experts are in the very feasible category (86%) and student responses are in the very feasible category (90%). Thus, it can be concluded that Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on a scientific approach can be used as learning materials in the learning process.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the application of pop-up books in the learning of eighth-grade students at MTs DDI Wanio, to determine students' understanding of photosynthesis before the application of pop-up books, and to determine the increase in students' understanding of photosynthesis after the application of pop-up books.This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR). Quantitative analysis techniques were used to analyze test scores on photosynthesis, including percentage averages, secondary deviations, and graphs. Qualitative analysis techniques were used to analyze observational data, summarizing and describing the research results through observations. Learning outcomes in cycles I and II improved compared to the pre-action period, as demonstrated by the average class score, which rose from 39 to 93.The percentage of students achieving the Minimum Competency (KKM) > 75 also increased from 38.5% to 93%. This data demonstrates that the use of pop-up books is effective when applied to photosynthesis learning. Students are more active and engaged in learning, and they also experience learning without always requiring technology. The data obtained in cycle II demonstrated that the research met the criteria for success, as the use of pop-up books was successful, as indicated by the percentage of students who passed the KKM > 75, thus eliminating the need for further research.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the learning styles of eighth-grade students in the science subject at UPTD SMP Negeri 10 Parepare, determine the level of their learning motivation, and analyze whether students’ learning styles have a significant influence on their learning motivation in the science subject. This research uses a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population consists of 163 students at UPTD SMP Negeri 10 Parepare, with a sample of 62 students selected using the Slovin formula. The data analysis techniques used in this study include descriptive analysis, normality test, linearity test, correlation coefficient test, and hypothesis testing using partial and simultaneous tests. The results show that the dominant learning style among eighth-grade students in the science subject at UPTD SMP Negeri 10 Parepare is the visual style, with a percentage of 84.7%. The level of students’ learning motivation for the science subject is 80%, and there is a significant influence of learning style on learning motivation, amounting to 39.7%.

Abstract

21st century science education must be able to foster critical and reflective scientific literacy through transformative learning. This research aims to synthesize, analyze and evaluate the state of the art from empirical research related to the application of transformative learning in science education. The research method used was a Systematic Literature Review following PRISMA guidelines for 15 selected articles. The research results reveal that the disorienting dilemma triggered by the theory-practice gap, socio-scientific issues, and visceral experiences in the wild are the main catalysts for transformation. The process of critical reflection plays an important role in bridging epistemological beliefs with field realities, which results in deep changes in self-identity, global perspective, and self-empowerment in environmental action. The results of the literature analysis show that transformative learning has succeeded in shifting the science education paradigm from simply memorizing concepts to developing critical and reflective scientific literacy. This is essential for forming students into independent individuals who are socially responsible for global issues such as climate change and sustainability.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the trends of pedagogical interventions, implementation contexts, and learning outcomes reported in studies on Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chemistry learning. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework. Data were collected through a literature search in relevant academic databases, namely Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar, using purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instruments consisted of an article screening sheet and a data extraction matrix covering author, year, research context, chemistry topic, type of AI, research design, sample, instrument, main findings, and research gaps. The data were analyzed using thematic narrative analysis of 15 primary studies that met the eligibility criteria. The findings revealed four major themes in the use of AI in chemistry learning: AI as a tutor/chatbot/learning assistant, AI in virtual and immersive learning environments, perceptions and challenges of AI implementation, and AI as a support for pedagogical strategies. The review also showed that AI has primarily functioned as an instructional support system, a means of personalizing learning, and a tool for strengthening the visualization of abstract chemical concepts rather than replacing the role of the teacher. In addition, the benefits of AI were most consistently observed in improving engagement, satisfaction, and learning experience, whereas its effects on cognitive learning outcomes remained inconsistent across studies. Therefore, AI holds considerable potential for chemistry learning; however, its effective implementation requires adequate pedagogical, ethical, and institutional support.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model based on image media on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design in the form of a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects were 23 fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 10 Tiga Desa. Data collection techniques included tests, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through a swimmer test (normality and homogeneity) and hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test. The results showed that the average pretest score of 46.52 increased to 81.47 in the posttest. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value <0.05, indicating a significant effect. Thus, the TPS learning model based on image media is effective in improving students' science learning outcomes. Keywords: Think Pair Share, image media, learning outcomes, science.

Abstract

In education, implementing learning is not as easy as putting all learning theories and media into practice. Therefore, the researcher aims to identify problems related to the implementation of learning theories and media. This research design is a case study. The methodology of this research uses mixed methods, in which quantitative data is strengthened by qualitative data. This study involved 5 science teachers and 25 fourth-grade students. This study used interviews, observation, and questionnaire instruments. Data were collected by directly going to the field and analyzed using descriptive statistics for quantitative data and analysis of interview results for qualitative data, so that the data obtained were comprehensive. The results of this study revealed that the main problems from the student perspective lie in the e-module design aspect (average score of 3.56), group dynamics (3.32), and memory retention (3.32). Meanwhile, from the teacher perspective, the most pressing problems are the burden of teacher guidance (3.20), student inquiry skills (2.80), and learning evaluation (2.80). Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a need to improve the e-module design, increase teacher scaffolding, and develop strategies to maintain students' conceptual understanding. so that it can be practically recommended for optimizing technology-based science learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

teaching module in improving students' analytical skills in the material of Work, Energy, and Simple Machines. The development of this module is motivated by the importance of analytical skills in physics learning and the need for teaching materials that are able to integrate scientific concepts with the context of everyday life. This study used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the study were all 38 students of grade VIII of SMP Al Qadri Islamic School Pinrang. Data collection was carried out through an analytical skills test given before and after the use of the module. The data obtained were then analyzed using a normality test, a paired samples t-test, and an N-Gain calculation to determine the level of improvement in students' abilities after participating in learning using the developed module. The results showed that the average score of students experienced a significant increase, namely from 54.36 in the pretest to 83.33 in the posttest. The percentage of learning completeness also increased from 10.53% to 65.79% after the use of the module. Furthermore, the N-Gain calculation result of 0.63 is in the moderate category, indicating an improvement in students' analytical abilities. Thus, the science literacy-based physics teaching module has proven effective as a teaching material to improve the analytical abilities and learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at Al Qadri Islamic School Pinrang Middle School..
