Abstract

The ability to manage time is an ever-important skill that managers in organizations should master and effectively apply in the day to day running of official operations. Mastering this skill is essential for employee performance, efficiency, and organizational productivity. This paper discusses time management and how it effects the way organizations perform, behave and function in Nigeria. It examines how cultural perceptions of time influence time and how it shapes organizational performance, employee behavior, and productivity. It reveals that organizations are faced with time management problems, which have become a burden towards an effective performance and service delivery. Through participant observation methodology and the application of the contingency theory, it is recommended, amongst others, that organizations and government take into cognizance Nigeria’s unique, diverse socio-cultural environment and support employees’ autonomy, relatedness, and competence through effective leadership styles to promote time management and organizational performance and also enact policies in accordance with specific regional prevailing circumstances.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between strategic procurement practices and organizational performance in the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in South-South Nigeria. Using a correlational survey design, data were collected from 77 SPIU staff via structured questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics and linear regression. The results indicate that effective procurement planning significantly improves organizational efficiency (R² = 0.989, B = 1.024, β = 0.994, p = 0.000), highlighting the importance of prioritizing procurement planning as a strategic tool for achieving sustainable performance in public infrastructure projects. Policymakers and project managers should prioritize procurement planning as a strategic instrument for ensuring sustainable efficiency outcomes in similar infrastructural programs. Managers should prioritize SRM initiatives, as they yield measurable improvements in delivery timelines, quality, and stakeholder trust. The study provides insight for managers to adopt digital procurement tools for optimal utilization of resources to minimize waste and boost performance outcomes and project sustainability. This study enriches existing literature on procurement and performance by constructing a regression model that empirically quantifies the strength of procurement planning’s impact (R² = 0.989, β = 0.994) using context-specific data from RAAMP, thereby providing a data-driven perspective on how strategic procurement practices enhance organizational efficiency.

Abstract

This research study assessed the influence of technology on procurement transparency in selected public sector in South-East, Nigeria. The study employed the survey method, and a stratified random sampling technique to ensure representation of study population such as procurement, audit, finance, and administrative departments. Questionnaires were administered via face-to face to the study participants. Descriptive and inferential statistics using Pearson correlation techniques, simple regression techniques analysis of variance (ANOVA) were utilised to test hypotheses and determine the strength and direction of relationships between variables. Empirical evidence from research hypothesis one showed that e-tendering significantly influences transparency in decision making in the selected public sector. The study recommends public agencies to formally adopt and integrate e-tendering mechanisms into procurement frameworks to ensure standardized transparency. Procurement regulatory bodies should design policies that mandate ethical compliance in e-tender processes, minimizing loopholes that could weaken integrity.

Abstract

Digital risk intelligence (DRI) has emerged as a strategic mechanism for mitigating supplier failures in public infrastructure delivery, particularly in African contexts where project delays, cost overruns, and non-compliance remain pervasive. This review critically examines empirical studies from the last nine years to explore how the dimensions of DRI—predictive analytics, real-time monitoring systems, and e-procurement with automated reporting—interact with supplier performance outcomes in Africa, with a particular focus on Nigeria. Findings indicate that predictive analytics enhances foresight in supplier risk assessment, enabling proactive interventions that reduce delays and cost escalations. Real-time monitoring systems facilitate continuous oversight, early detection of deviations, and improved contractual compliance, while e-procurement and automated reporting strengthen transparency, accountability, and governance mechanisms. Comparative analysis across Nigerian case studies, other African countries, and developed economies reveals both opportunities and constraints, highlighting institutional and infrastructural factors that mediate DRI effectiveness. The review further demonstrates theoretical implications for Agency Theory and Dynamic Capabilities Theory by illustrating how DRI reduces information asymmetry and operationalizes sensing, seizing, and transforming capabilities in procurement organizations. Despite growing evidence of DRI’s potential, gaps remain in longitudinal, comparative, and context-specific empirical research. The study concludes by recommending policy reforms, practical adoption strategies, and targeted empirical investigations to optimize DRI deployment and improve supplier performance in African public infrastructure delivery.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the level of employee job satisfaction at CUC Hotel and to identify areas requiring improvement using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method. Job satisfaction is a crucial factor in enhancing employee productivity and retention, particularly in the hospitality industry, which relies heavily on human resources. The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach with data collected through a structured questionnaire. The population of the study consists of all employees at CUC Hotel, with a sample of 67 respondents selected through probability sampling techniques. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics to determine the average scores for each indicator, followed by Importance Performance Analysis to map the satisfaction attributes into quadrants based on their importance and performance. The IPA results reveal four main attributes located in Quadrant I (high importance, low performance) of the Cartesian diagram, specifically: promotion opportunities, co-worker relationships, and supervisor relationships. These findings suggest that while these attributes are considered highly important by employees, their current performance is insufficient and requires managerial attention. The overall conformity level reached 85.56%, indicating that, in general, the job satisfaction of employees at CUC Hotel is relatively good. The study recommends that management prioritize improvement efforts on attributes within Quadrant I to maintain and enhance employee satisfaction consistently and effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to explore innovative transformations in human resource management relevant to career development and employee performance improvement in organizations implementing hybrid work systems. The primary focus of this research is the integration of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), HR process automation, and dynamic career approaches that adapt to the demands of flexible work. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and documentation study to identify current human resource management practices in hybrid organizations. Data were obtained from academic literature, such as relevant scientific journal articles, and then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The study results indicate that organizations that successfully adapt to hybrid work generally implement technology- and data-driven human resource management strategies, such as automated recruitment, adaptive online training, and digital performance management systems. The implementation of these innovations contributes to higher employee engagement, sustainable career development, and overall productivity improvements. Furthermore, active employee involvement in the managerial innovation process has been shown to strengthen organizational loyalty and resilience. This study concludes that innovative transformations in human resource management are key to supporting organizational success in the hybrid work era. This approach not only improves operational efficiency but also creates sustainable value through adaptive, skilled, and actively engaged human resources

Abstract

This study examines how structured training and development initiatives improve the performance of internship students by strengthening both hard and soft skills. Internships are widely recognized as a bridge between academic learning and workplace demands, contributing to technical competence, employability, and professional growth. The research aims to (1) assess the impact of pre internship and on the job training on interns’ task performance, and (2) analyse how soft skills (communication, teamwork, problem solving) and hard skills jointly predict internship outcomes. A mixed methods design is proposed, combining surveys of interns and supervisors with semi structured interviews to capture perceived changes in competence, confidence, and work readiness. Quantitative data will be analysed using regression and mediation models to test the contribution of training intensity and learning climate to performance, while qualitative data will be thematically analysed to explore mechanisms such as mentoring quality and feedback practices. The study concludes that well designed training and development, supported by clear objectives and effective supervision, significantly enhance internship performance and facilitate smoother school to work transitions.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of thrift entrepreneurs in the emerging circular economy, examining how they use digital platforms to promote sustainable consumption and navigate systemic barriers in informal market environments. It explores the socio-cultural, technological, and institutional factors that enable or constrain their participation in circular fashion ecosystems. Using a qualitative research design, the study employs document analysis, thematic coding, and a secondary literature review, drawing on recent empirical data from Southeast Asian digital thrift markets. The analysis is framed by Digital Inequality Theory (Robinson et al., 2015), Social Capital Theory (Putnam, 2000), and circular economy frameworks (OECD, 2022). Findings reveal six core themes: circular values and sustainability narratives; digital adaptation and entrepreneurial bricolage; informality, inequity, and exclusion from formal capital and regulation; social capital formation and cultural community-building; identity politics in thrift branding; and the need for nuanced, inclusive policy responses. The study concludes that equitable circular economies require robust policy frameworks, improved digital infrastructure, and formal recognition of informal entrepreneurial actors, and calls for future interdisciplinary research.
