This study uses monthly data sources from the State Bank of Pakistan to examine the impact of inflation, exports, foreign direct investment, foreign reserves, and imports on Pakistan's currency exchange rates from July 2018 to January 2023. The empirical results demonstrate that inflation and imports have a positive and significant effect on the exchange rate in the short term by using the ARDL bound test. Exchange rates are negatively impacted by exports, foreign direct investment, and foreign reserves. Inflation, imports, and foreign reserves have a positive and considerable influence on currency exchange rates over the long term.

Abstract

This systematic review paper examines the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in Human Resources Management (HRM) recruitment processes. The study includes an analysis of academic papers, magazine articles, and highly-rated websites in related fields. By exploring the findings of this research, we aim to enhance the general understanding of AI's influence on HRM recruitment. While it is not possible to cover all topics related to this subject, the chosen research methodology is reasonable and encompasses a substantial number of articles pertaining to the core subject area. The results indicate that AI offers significant advantages in recruitment, as technology can effectively support this domain. By automating time-consuming tasks, AI frees up human resources to concentrate on more critical aspects related to performance and development. Implementing automation, cognitive insights, and cognitive engagement in the recruitment process enables systems to mimic human brain functionality, facilitating unbiased, efficient, and rapid data analysis and processing.

Abstract

The Batu Katak ecotourism area is an attractive tourism destination, with extraordinary natural beauty and biodiversity. Tourism development in this area cannot be separated from the active role and contribution of the local community. This study aims to describe the role of the community in tourism development in the BatuKatak ecotourism area. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the community has a significant role in tourism development in the BatuKatak ecotourism area. First, the community plays a role in environmental preservation and management. Second, the community plays a role in empowering the local economy. Third, the community plays a role in tourism promotion and marketing. However, this research also found several challenges faced by the community in their role in developing tourism in the BatuKatak ecotourism area. These challenges include a lack of access to tourism education and training, a lack of understanding of the importance of environmental preservation, as well as a conflict of interest between the community and the developer. To overcome this challenge, this study recommends efforts by the government and related parties to provide tourism education and training to local communities, as well as to strengthen community participation in decision-making related to tourism development.

Abstract

Inflation's effects on the volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Nigeria from 1995 to 2020 are examined in this study. In order to establish the relationship between the dependent variable (foreign direct investment) and the independent variables (inflation, real interest rate, and exchange rate), secondary data were gathered from the CBN Statistical Bulletin, Nigeria Bureau of Statistics and the World Bank Database. Johansen cointegration test was used to ascertain the long-term relationship between FDI and the independent variables, while the enhanced Dicker-Fuller test (ADF) was used to examine the data's time series property. It was decided to use the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), and the error coefficient, which is correctly signed and significant, shows that the independent variables and FDI have a long-term relationship. The model's explanatory variables' effects on FDI were statistically insignificant. But as indicated by the probability of the F-statistic at the 5% level of significance, the overall regression was significant. The study suggests that efforts be made to use additional macroeconomic policies as a way to boost foreign direct investment in the economy and that the government and monetary authorities should not solely rely on the tool and model for controlling inflation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine how credit from commercial banks affects Industrial Growth in Nigeria. The study spans the years 1983 through 2020. For this reason, Commercial Bank Credits was divided into Commercial Banks Credit to the Manufacturing Sector (CBMF), Commercial Banks Credit to the Mining Sector (CBMN), and Commercial Banks Credit to the Real Estate and Construction Sector (CBRC), and their various effects on Industrial Development (Industrial Gross domestic product - IGDP) were taken into account. It was discovered that all the variables attained stationarity at the first and second difference and then freed themselves from the unit root tangle. The Johansen co-integration test results demonstrated that there is no co-integration equation between the variables listed in the model. The Granger Causality test, which was conducted, showed that there was only one causal relationship between Commercial Banks' contribution to the mining sector (CBMN) and Industrial Development (IGDP). According to the regression analysis's findings, there is a positive and significant relationship between commercial banks' lending to the manufacturing sector (CBMF) and industrial development (IGDP), as well as a negative and significant relationship between commercial banks' lending to the real estate and construction sector (CBRC) and industrial development. This suggests that there is a significant connection between Industrial Development and the credit offered by commercial banks. This research on the effect of Commercial Bank Credits on Industrial Development studied only the Nigerian case. So, the research recommends that this study be extended to other Sub Saharan African Countries.  In order to enhance industrial growth and development in the long run, it is recommended that, the commercial banks should grant medium and long term loans to the major players in the industrial sector and avoid under-lending or over-lending. There is disagreement regarding whether there is a long-term or short-term relationship between commercial bank credits and industrial development, as well as the direction of causality. The majority of researchers on this subject did not examine the nature and direction of the relationship between Commercial Bank Credits and Industrial Development in Nigeria using the Cointegration Test and Granger Causality Test. This study closes the knowledge gap.

Abstract

The Ministry of Tourism has acknowledged that Lake Toba in North Sumatra is one of Indonesia's top five destinations of high priority. This study aims to identify various forms of local wisdom that exist in the Meat (Desa Meat) tourism village and analyze the role of the community in tourism development there. The research method used is qualitative analysis through observation and literature study. Sources of data used in this research include books, journals, websites, and other relevant references related to the theme of this research. Meat village which is located in the vicinity of Lake Toba, has also been designated as one of the tourism development areas. The reason behind the appointment is because this village not only has abundant natural beauty, but also manages to maintain its distinctive artistic and cultural elements. Research has proven that Meat village has a tourism concept that is based on local wisdom, in which the local community is actively involved in developing tourism through the production of woven yeast hotang cloth. Besides being valuable as part of human creativity, the potential for this local wisdom also has significant economic value. The development of a tourism village that focuses on local wisdom like this can be used as an example for other villages interested in developing the concept of rural tourism.

Abstract

The major objective of the study was to examine factors that determined private commercial bank profitability in Ethiopia by using panel data of thirteen private commercial banks from year 2010 to 2021. The study used random effect multiple linear regressions models to investigate factors that determine the profitability of private commercial banks. To obtain information relevant to the study, secondary data especially annual audited financial statement of banks was used. Besides, in the study only thirteen private commercial banks purposively selected sample from this population due to the availability of 12 years’ data. The findings of the study reveals that management efficiency and loan to deposit ratio have statistically significant and positive relationship with banks’ profitability. On the other hand, variables like liquidity have a negative and statistically significant relationship with banks’ profitability. Conversely, the relationship for funding cost, gross domestic product and inflation rate is found to be positive and statistically insignificant. Therefore, it is recommended that private commercial banks should increase the statutory minimum reserves of capital which a bank or other financial institution must have available (capital adequacy), diversify their types of deposits, increase their size by increasing the number of branches and network
