Abstract

The presence of cultural heritage artifacts is crucial as they represent a nation's history and identity. Currently, the condition of cultural heritage protection in Indonesia is concerning. There have been several cases of theft of cultural heritage artifacts, including incidents within museums, which should be the safest places for such collections. An example is the case at the National Museum in Central Jakarta. According to Johannes Marbun, Coordinator of the Cultural Heritage Advocacy Society, the first case occurred in 1960 when a collection of gold and gems was stolen, followed by incidents in 1979 involving the theft of coin collections and ceramics. The fourth case happened in 1996 with the theft of paintings by Basoeki Abdullah, Raden Saleh, and Affandi, and the fifth case in 2013 involved the disappearance of four gold-plated cultural heritage artifacts. It is suspected that these historical artifacts, believed to be remnants of the ancient Mataram Kingdom and valued at billions of rupiah, are now outside the country. Therefore, the objective of this thesis research is twofold: first, to compare the regulations of the UNESCO 1970 Convention and the UNIDROIT 1995 Convention with Indonesia's Law No. 11 of 2010 concerning Cultural Heritage, and second, to emphasize the urgency of ratifying the UNESCO 1970 Convention and the UNIDROIT 1995 Convention for the protection of cultural heritage in Indonesia. This research is classified as normative research, utilizing secondary data sources and the library research technique for data collection. From the research findings, three main conclusions can be drawn. First, the condition of cultural heritage protection in Indonesia remains concerning, as evidenced by a series of theft and illegal trafficking cases. Second, Indonesia's Cultural Heritage Law, the UNESCO 1970 Convention, and the UNIDROIT 1995 Convention all aim to protect cultural heritage, but with different approaches and mechanisms. The Cultural Heritage Law focuses more on the national context and implementation through government institutions and community participation, while the UNESCO 1970 Convention and UNIDROIT 1995 Convention emphasize international cooperation and the return of illegally exported cultural artifacts. Third, the Indonesian government needs to take concrete steps to address this issue. One proposed step is to ratify the UNESCO 1970 Convention and the UNIDROIT 1995 Convention. The author's recommendations are, first, for the government to strengthen the legal framework related to cultural heritage protection by revising existing laws, and second, for Indonesia to promptly ratify the UNESCO 1970 Convention and the UNIDROIT 1995 Convention to enhance international cooperation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causal relationship between renewable energy consumption and economic growth in China over the period 1990 to 2023. Utilizing the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and Granger causality tests, the research explores both short-run and long-run dynamics between the two variables. The stationarity test results indicate that the data are non-stationary at level but become stationary after first differencing. The Johansen cointegration test confirms a long-term relationship between the variables. The VECM and Granger causality test results reveal a unidirectional causal relationship running from renewable energy consumption to economic growth. The Impulse Response Function (IRF) shows that shocks from renewable energy consumption initially have a negative impact on economic growth, but this effect turns positive in the long run. Meanwhile, the Variance Decomposition analysis indicates that the contribution of renewable energy to economic growth increases over time. These findings highlight the crucial role of renewable energy development in supporting long-term sustainable economic growth and offer important implications for developing countries undergoing energy transitions.

Abstract

Asymmetric warfare involving state and non-state actors in modern conflicts poses serious challenges to the implementation of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). This study analyzes the mismatch in the identification of combatants, the problems surrounding civilian protection, and accountability for violations within the context of asymmetric conflicts. The findings indicate that the ambiguity of combatant status and the strategic use of civilians as human shields hinder the application of fundamental IHL principles, such as distinction and proportionality. Moreover, international legal enforcement mechanisms continue to face significant limitations in prosecuting violations, particularly those committed by non-state actors. This study recommends strengthening adaptive legal frameworks and establishing effective accountability mechanisms to ensure the protection of human rights and legal order in asymmetric conflict situations. The research contributes significantly to the development of humanitarian law that is responsive to the dynamics of contemporary conflicts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between PPM (percentage of population living in poverty) and TPAK (percentage of population actively seeking employment) and HDI (Human Development Index) in Bali Province. The quantitative method of this work is based on a multiple linear regression model that analyzes secondary time series data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) from 1995 to 2024. The PPM variable significantly affects HDI, in contrast to the LPR variable which is not significant. Nonetheless, HDI does benefit from the combination of both. The adjusted R-squared value of 67.3% indicates that PPM and LPR adequately explain the variance in HDI. These findings are useful for the city governments of Bali Province as they highlight areas for improvement in terms of human capital quality and poverty reduction, two important components of sustainable development.  Translated with DeepL.com (free version).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of exports, foreign direct investment (FDI), exchange rates, and inflation on foreign exchange reserves in ten ASEAN member countries during the period 2018–2022. A quantitative approach is employed using panel data regression methods, which combine both cross-sectional and time-series dimensions to produce more robust and accurate estimations. Secondary data are sourced from international institutions such as the World Bank and UNCTAD. The Fixed Effect Model (FEM) is selected as the most appropriate analytical model based on the results of Chow and Hausman tests. The estimation results reveal that exports and FDI have a positive and significant effect on foreign exchange reserves, while exchange rates and inflation exert a negative and significant influence. The F-test confirms that all independent variables jointly affect foreign exchange reserves, with an R² value of 82%, indicating that the model explains a substantial portion of the variation in the dependent variable. These findings highlight the importance of enhancing exports and FDI inflows, while maintaining exchange rate stability and controlling inflation to strengthen external economic resilience. This study provides empirical evidence and policy implications relevant for developing countries in navigating global economic volatility.

Abstract

Globalization has driven multinational companies to enter Southeast Asian markets, which are known for their diverse cultures, languages, and local values. This study uses a case study approach from companies such as Unilever, McDonald's, and Samsung to examine the cultural challenges that multinational companies face in implementing global marketing strategies in the region. The results show that the success of marketing strategies depends largely on a company's ability to adapt products and communications to local cultural preferences and norms. Key challenges include global corporate culture and local values, cultural misunderstandings of communications, and consumer resistance to single brands. A “glocal” strategy, which combines global strengths with local coordination, has proven to be the most effective approach. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding local culture as a key factor in developing a successful marketing strategy in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and increasingly fierce business competition, innovation and creativity have become critical factors for the sustainability and growth of organizations. This study aims to analyze the impact of corporate culture on the level of innovation and creativity within organizations. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with secondary data analysis, this research focuses on literature from books, journals, and other publications related to innovation culture. The findings reveal that corporate culture plays a crucial role in enhancing employee innovation and creativity. A corporate culture that supports collaboration, openness, recognition of new ideas, and flexibility significantly influences employees' ability to innovate and think creatively. However, the implementation of an innovative culture faces challenges such as resistance to change, lack of resources, and entrenched organizational norms. This study provides practical implications for management, suggesting the creation of a collaborative work environment, implementation of reward systems, open communication, and flexibility in work processes to foster innovation and creativity. Further research is recommended to explore how specific elements of corporate culture can be optimized, particularly in the context of Indonesia.

Abstract

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production forecasting is an important element in supply chain management and company strategic planning. This study aims to forecast CPO production at PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional 7 KSO using the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) method. Historical data of CPO production from 2017 to 2025 was analyzed using EViews 12 software. The analysis begins with data stationarity testing using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test. The selection of the optimal ARIMA model is determined based on the small Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), Schwarz Criterion (SC), and large R-squared values. After identifying and estimating the model, it is found that the ARIMA (1,0,0) model is the best model that can be used to forecast CPO production. This model has been tested with the Lijung-Box Test and White Noise Test, which shows that the residuals are random, so it is valid for forecasting. The forecasting results show a pattern of fluctuations in CPO production from year to year, with an increase in production in certain periods. This forecasting is expected to be a reference for companies in preparing the Company's Work Plan and Budget (RKAP) and optimizing production strategies to deal with changes in demand.
