Abstract

Development of Indonesian comics that has been more than 80 years old is very rarely being topic of scientific study, especially about the history and its realitionship with foreign comics. Comics Industry in Indonesia is dominated by foreign comics, especially manga. Because of the popularity of manga comics in Indonesia, many Indonesian comics have similar visual appearance with the manga. The effect of foreign comics which is familiar by the author. This influence creates an ambiguity of identification Indonesian original comics. This reinforces the author desire to examine the historical development of comics in Indonesia and how far the influence of foreign comic visualization. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach. The explanation of the research methods for the required data will be divided into several different sub chapters. Phases of the research starting from data collection, sampling process, analyzing process, to conclusion. The author uses a random sample representing each decade which are similar with foreign comics. The analysis focused on a visual comic sample that includes panel, the viewing angle and the size of the image in the panel, ditch, bubling, and illustration. Conclusions are taken based on visual analysis of the entire Indonesian comics and foreign comics, and also from the results of both.

Abstract

Information and communication is one of the most important necessity in daily life. Media is really affecting human perception side because the function of media is transmitting the information between one to another, not to mention television as an electronic media. Besides as an information transmitter, a television channel should have station ID as their branding environment. The visual of station ID made as aestheic as can be by not ignoring visual communication design rules. The method used in this thesis about Trans Media Station ID is qualitative descriptive method. This method was chosen because the information was obtained by interviewing informants whom are station ID designer and then be enligtened by descriptive method. After interviewing the informants, obtained information that the main concept of Trans 7 station ID is about the Indonesian culture, based on Trans 7 program are so thick with Indonesian culture. Meanwhile, the main concept of Trans TV station ID is Trans TV as the leading television who can be a determinant of Indonesian people show. Although Trnas TV and Trans 7 have different concept in their station ID, but still there are a common thread to their station ID, namely with using the same color, because the color use in station ID is corporate color from Trans Media logo.

Abstract

The development of printing industry are faster on the digital printing and the Internet are moving online world. This would erode offset printing and industrial markets, is a challenge for the field of printing offset printing media. Steps to answer the challenge was the implementation of Process Standard Offset is expected to maintain the quality is guaranteed and applies to the entire world. ISO 112647‐2 is standard for Offset where PT. Percetakan Gramedia Cikarang already certified for the process. But still encountered obstacles during implementation so that raises the question, whether the application of the Offset Standard PROCESS there are irregularities? So of writing this study can find problems in the application of Process Standard Offset. In this quantitative research data collection taken from the prints in order “A” in the machine KBA Rapida 105 on Coated paper with this parameter measurements on paper color, ink color, dot gain and measured at the color bar and dot step. So that the figures obtained ΔE * and dot gain deviations when compared with ISO 12647‐2. From the analysis of the measured data was found deviations in color and dot gain control, so we need to make improvement to keep the appropriate level of quality expected by the customer.

Abstract

Photography potrait is a photography field that highlight the character and traits of someone. In the world of photography there are two world leaders who are pioneers of photography in portrait photography, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Richard Avedon. Both have different theories in doing portrait photography. Conflicts that arise between the two is whether portrait photography should be done naturally or with posing. Of course, both have similarities photographic portraits, which portray someone in a work of portrait photography. This paper will discuss some of the work of portrait photography of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Richard Avedon, and compare the two works to find the answer to whether or not subjects to pose in a portrait photography.

Abstract

Dewasa ini banyak foto yang ditampilkan oleh media sebagai foto pemberitaan. Namun bila ditelaah lebih jauh, bidang fotografi mempunyai berbagai jenis dan macamnya, diantaranya adalah bidang fotografi jurnalistik dan fotografi human interest. Tulisan ini mengangkat tentang cara memahami perbedaan antara fotografi jurnalistik dan human interest yang kemudian memunculkan sebuah konsep baru dalam dunia fotografi. Penulis memcoba membongkar kebiasaan fotografer jurnalistik yang sampai saat ini masih banyak yang memenggunakan fotografi human interest dalam pemberitaan. Fotografi merupakan pesan non verbal, yang berarti tak menggunakan kata-kata namun memberikan sebuah gambar dengan makna yang tersirat di dalamnya. Fotografi human interest merupakan foto seseorang (banyak orang) yang sedang melakukan suatu hal, ada sebuah interaksi antara objek dan apa yang dilakukannya. Fotografi jurnalistik dan human interest mempunyai batasan-batasan sehingga hasil foto yang dihasilkan mempunyai karakter tersendiri.

Abstract

This research focuses on visual branding study of superior featured product of local area which produce by SMEs in Depok. Depok has a featured product which is starfruit called “belimbing Dewa”. Rasa Dewa is one of many brands of Depok’s proccessed product of starfruit which have lot of variants among others brand. This qualitative research uses aesthetic approach (form, function, meaning) and marketing science approach. Data are collected by observation and literature study. it was done by observed the visual branding elements on the packaging. The Packaging of Rasa Dewa were analyzed according to the regional branding concept whereby the use of geographic indicators on brand identity may involve associations of unique characteristic qualities with specific locations or quality images based on the history, tradition and folklore of an area. The purposes of this study are to determine the form, function and meaning of the elements of Visual Branding of Rasa Dewa that exist on the packaging of starfruit processed products which produces by SMEs Depok associated to brand identity and brand image as a featured product of the local area. Result of this research indicate that Packaging of Rasa Dewa not yet represent Depok featured product.

Abstract

Information becomes very important for the society. Each day they are faced with a variety and variations of form of information. Starting from the information in the field of academics, marketing, editorial and so forth. The need for effective information sharing with an attractive view makes a presentation of information appear. Infographics become one form of information distribution that has begun to develop. Infographics bring enlightenment in displaying data - data in the form of text and numbers into a display that appeals to readers. Infographics also become one of the solutions in conveying information in the form of posters or e-posters.

Abstract

Every entity must be known to the their community, they need a difference that can be known what is the entities it, like symbol. Logo is symbol of identity of an entity, that differentiate of other community. Deaf organization’s entity in grassroot level need a logo to diffenrentiate himself after other community entities. The problem is visual communication that a disability organization’s in a village didn’t consistent at the visual communication. It can make the brand of disability organization in village just administration, it can’t support the vision of disability in village. This paper disscuss about consistent logo can be used by deaf organization to build the bergaining position as a advocavy vision brand. For the example, Akar Tuli, PLJ, and Gerkatin. This paper use qualitative descriptive method to description how logo can be a visual communication for deaf disability organization to representation his image in their environment at village. It aim to create image himself and help the advocacy work as a vision.

Abstract

The skill of languages is so important in our life, because of this skills we can express our mind and feeling in contextual with the conversation in that situation. The ability to speak we can also speaking well, where speak or conversation have to creative figure in communication so language is clear, coherent, and easy to understand because it can express the ideas and feeling. The issue of mastery of English can not be separated from the planning of the nation's education program. The English itself is practical, still a language science that must be taught to the students. Teaching is the totality of teaching and learning activities that begin with planning and end with evaluation. More explicitly it can be said that teaching as an all-encompassing activity directly to achieve specific objectives of teaching (determining the learners' entry-behavior, drawing up lesson plans, providing information, asking questions, and assessing. Comic is one type of media that can be used to express the mind, imagination and creativity in the form of drawings and written language. Comics can encourage DKV students to enjoy the ability to speak English well. This research indicator used the elements such as comic story narrative, illustration drawings, panels, word balloons, moral values of the comic created.

Abstract

Novel in Indonesia became a popular reading, one by novelist Ayu Utami. However, it turns out Ayu Utami create her own cover design of her novels. Writer interested to examine how to determine the cover design visualization contained in Ayu Utami’s novel that affect she make their own novel’s cover. The method used in this study include observational data collection, interviews, and literatures. The results of the study began seeing Ayu Utami’s novels that tell about the history, culture, sex and myths. In addition to getting entertainment, reading novels Ayu Utami also could add insight and information about the history and culture that has not been known. Each novel is written always do research beforehand. Almost the entire cover of the novel made by Ayu Utami. Researchers then describe what elements are there in Ayu Utami covers novel, includes illustrations, color, typography, and layout, and then analyze it. Conclusions from this research that works Ayu Utami’s novel illustrations is not entirely explanation contents story, but it contains meanings associative relationship exciting to be a conceptual work.
