Jurnal Kesehatan Reproduksi (Journal of Reproductive Health) is one of the journals published by Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kesehatan (National Institute of Health Research and Development), Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. It is firstly published in December 2010, Jurnal Kesehatan Reproduksi (Journal of Reproductive Health) is an authoritative source of scientific information and knowledge based on research and analysis focused on sexual and reproductive health related topics. All papers are peer-reviewed by at least two referees. Jurnal Kesehatan Reproduksi (Journal of Reproductive Health) is issued 2 times a year and has been accredited by Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (Indonesian Institute of Sciences) by No. 164/E/KPT/2021. Besides that, it is also listed on Sinta 2. Based on the Minutes of the Handover of the Reproductive Health Journal in December 2022, the management of the Reproductive Health Journal has been handed over from the Health Research and Development Center (NIHRD) of the Health Research and Development Agency to the Indonesian Public Health Association (IAKMI) South Tangerang branch. Therefore, all forms of accountability regarding the publication of the Reproductive Health Journal are then affiliated with IAKMI Kota Tangerang Selatan starting with the issue of Vol.13(1) in 2022. The Open Journal System (OJS) has now moved to the address https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or. id/index.php/kespro The Indonesian Public Health Association (IAKMI) of South Tangerang City is a professional organization that participates in disseminating information about public health including Reproductive Health. Hopefully, this collaboration can expand the benefits of scientific research on Reproductive Health in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Hip pain is a common musculoskeletal complaint during pregnancy and may reduce mobility and quality of life. Safe and effective non-pharmacological interventions are therefore needed. Prenatal yoga is commonly recommended to enhance physical comfort and well-being during pregnancy. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of prenatal yoga in reducing hip pain among pregnant women. Method: A randomized controlled trial was conducted at an independent midwifery practice from July to December 2023. A total of 240 pregnant women were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 120) and a control group (n = 120). The intervention group attended prenatal yoga sessions led by a certified instructor twice weekly for four weeks, with each session lasting 60 minutes. The control group received standard antenatal care only. Hip pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon, Mann–Whitney, and chi-square tests. Results: The prenatal yoga group showed a significantly greater reduction in hip pain compared to the control group (p = 0.030). Pain resolution occurred in 78.2% of the intervention group and 8.3% of controls (RR = 1.279). Conclusion: Prenatal yoga is effective in reducing hip pain among pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Low exclusive breastfeeding rates are driven by maternal stress, fatigue, and low confidence, which hinder milk production. Non-pharmacological interventions are essential to enhance production. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of hypnobreastfeeding and oxytocin massage on breast milk production in nursing mothers. Method: The study design used a quasi-experimental two-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 32 breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 0–6 months, selected using consecutive sampling, with 16 respondents in each intervention group. The hypnobreastfeeding and oxytocin massage interventions were given for 15–20 minutes per day for 10 days. Breast milk production was measured through the frequency of urination and the increase in infant weight. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test. Results: The results showed the average weight of infants in the hypnobreastfeeding group was 5826.255 grams, while that in the oxytocin massage group was 6080.00 grams (p=0.001). The frequency of urination in the hypnobreastfeeding group was 8.71 times and in the oxytocin massage group was 8.81 times (p=0.000). Conclusion: Hypnobreastfeeding and oxytocin massage are effective in increasing breast milk production, but oxytocin massage results in a higher increase in infant weight gain, making it more recommended to support successful breastfeeding.

Abstract

Background: Endometriosis is a complex gynecological disorder with a strong genetic component. Although genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified numerous risk loci, the functional interpretation of protein-altering missense variants remains limited. Objective: This study identified pathogenic missense variants linked to endometriosis risk using publicly available GWAS data and explored implications for genetic risk detection, particularly in underrepresented populations such as Indonesia. Methods: Endometriosis-associated missense single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified from GWAS data, and a total of eight missense SNPs were analyzed. Functional effects were evaluated in silico using PolyPhen-2 and SIFT. Allele frequency distributions were assessed across global populations, and pathway enrichment analysis was conducted using the Reactome database. Results: Several missense variants were significantly associated with increased endometriosis risk (e.g., rs75801644, OR = 3.88; rs144824657, OR = 3.52), while rs2341097 showed a potential protective effect. Functional prediction prioritized variants in genes such as KCNG2 and BSG as potentially damaging. Population analyses revealed marked allele frequency differences, and enriched pathways were related to potassium channel activity, metabolism, extracellular matrix organization, and signal transduction. Conclusion: This study identifies missense variants contributing to endometriosis susceptibility and provides insight into biological pathways. Further experimental validation and clinical studies are warranted.

Abstract

Background: The duration of labor is an important indicator of maternal and infant safety. The success and length of labor is influenced by birthing position. The ESA chair is designed to facilitate an upright position during labor, which, in theory, speeds up the birth process and increases maternal comfort. Objective: to analyze the comparison of the duration of  mothers using ESA chairs and delivery beds at independent midwives in Tasikmalaya city. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental approach with a two-group-posttest-only design, namely interventions in the group of mothers giving birth using ESA chairs and the group of mothers giving birth using delivery beds. The sampling technique used a total of 24 respondents. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the duration of labor between the two groups showed that the average duration of labor in the ESA Chair group (34.23) was significantly faster than the average duration of labor in the “Delivery Bed” group (51.45). The results of statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney test showed a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: ESA chairs are more effective than delivery beds in shortening the duration of labor in mothers.
