Abstract

Information system implementation has become an essential component of digital transformation in Islamic boarding school education, particularly in strengthening institutional governance and communication. This study aims to analyze how information systems and digital media management contribute to governance practices within an Islamic boarding school environment. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research gathers data through direct observation, semi-structured interviews with administrators and media teams, and analysis of institutional documents and digital platforms. The findings indicate that the media division plays a strategic role in managing institutional communication, disseminating information, and documenting activities through platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp Groups, supported by the use of EMIS for educational administration. Nevertheless, implementation is constrained by unstable internet connectivity, electricity interruptions, and limited human resources in content production, including graphic design and video editing. To address these issues, the institution conducts quarterly evaluations, applies structured verification procedures for information dissemination, and develops long-term strategies such as establishing media training classes and designing integrated systems for attendance, payment, and permission processes. The implications of this study highlight the need for capacity-building in digital literacy, technological infrastructure improvement, and the formulation of standardized information governance policies to enhance institutional effectiveness. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive, process-oriented model that integrates administrative systems, digital media workflows, and verification-based governancean approach that fills a gap in previous studies that focused only on system development or communication outcomes. This study concludes that well-managed information systems significantly improve transparency, accountability, and institutional governance, thereby supporting the sustainable digital transformation of Islamic boarding schools. Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital technology in Islamic education has created new challenges in maintaining academic integrity, particularly during computer-based examinations. This study addresses the issue of academic dishonesty in digital assessment settings and explores how technological tools can be aligned with Islamic values, especially the principle of amanah (trustworthiness). The purpose of this research is to analyze the implementation of Bimasoft and Safe Exam applications as an integrated strategy for preventing cheating while fostering amanah in students within an Islamic educational environment. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, operators, and school management, complemented by documentation of exam procedures. The findings show that Bimasoft improves exam efficiency through streamlined question input, randomized items, and automated scoring, while Safe Exam effectively restricts access to external applications, thereby reducing opportunities for cheating. However, the success of these systems remains dependent on human factors, particularly the vigilance of exam proctors. The study implies that digital examinations can function not only as technical assessment tools but also as instruments of digital da’wah that reinforce moral discipline and accountability. The novelty of this research lies in its integration of technological exam systems with Islamic ethical formation, demonstrating how digital platforms can operationalize spiritual values in contemporary education.

Abstract

The increasing demand for Umrah services has encouraged travel organizers to enhance service quality, particularly through comprehensive manasik guidance that supports pilgrims’ spiritual and practical readiness. This study aims to examine and analyze the role of Exclusive Umrah Manasik services implemented by Sahelia Umrah and Hajj Surabaya in improving the quality of pilgrims’ worship. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving staff members and pilgrims. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, while data validity was ensured through technique and source triangulation. The findings reveal that the Exclusive Umrah Manasik program is implemented through structured online and offline stages, integrating technical ritual instruction, direct practice guided by experienced muthawwif, and exclusive spiritual development sessions. The program is supported by adequate facilities, professional instructors, and additional service innovations that enhance pilgrims’ comfort and preparedness. Furthermore, the implementation of this program reflects key service quality dimensions, including reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles, all of which contribute significantly to strengthening pilgrims’ spiritual, mental, and technical readiness. Despite these strengths, challenges remain in the form of varying levels of pilgrims’ understanding and occasional non-compliance with scheduled activities. In conclusion, the Exclusive Umrah Manasik services provided by Sahelia Umrah and Hajj play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of pilgrims’ worship by fostering deeper spiritual awareness, confidence, and ritual accuracy. This study contributes to the literature on religious service management by highlighting the importance of personalized and spiritually oriented manasik guidance. Future research is recommended to involve multiple Umrah service providers and employ mixed-method approaches to broaden the scope and generalizability of the findings.

Abstract

This study examines the digitalization process implemented at Maryam Collage, a modern Islamic boarding school that strives to integrate technology with Islamic values in its daily educational activities. The research is grounded in the central question of how digital-based systems such as the amal shalih performance assessment, fingerprint and ID card attendance systems, and digital data management contribute to improving students’ discipline, administrative efficiency, and institutional effectiveness. This study positions itself to fill the existing gap in literature regarding digital transformation within Islamic boarding schools that maintain strong moral and spiritual frameworks. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation, the study provides a contextual understanding of how digitalization is implemented within the institution. The results indicate that the digital system has significantly enhanced the accuracy of activity recording, transparency in evaluation, and the speed of decision-making processes. The amal shalih assessment system is shown to strengthen students’ motivation and positive behavior, while the use of social media contributes to improving the institution’s public image and outreach. Despite technical challenges such as limited devices, unstable internet connectivity, and gradual user adaptation, the overall digitalization process proves to be a strategic step in building an Islamic educational institution that is modern, efficient, and competitive without losing its spiritual identity. Consequently, this research provides an important contribution to the study of digital transformation in Islamic boarding schools and highlights the potential of technology-based educational systems that remain rooted in spiritual values.

Abstract

The increasing reliance on digital technologies has reshaped human resource practices across various sectors, yet studies on how digital information systems support volunteer recruitment within faith-based and community organizations remain limited. Traditional recruitment methods often face challenges related to administrative inefficiency, limited outreach, and inadequate data validation. This study aims to analyze the role of digital information systems in improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability of volunteer recruitment processes within a community-based religious organization. A descriptive qualitative case study was employed, involving in-depth interviews with recruitment administrators, senior volunteers, and newly registered volunteers. Additional data were collected through digital documentation, online registration forms, social media content, and non-participant observation. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns relating to recruitment stages, system integration, and user responses. The findings reveal that digital information systems particularly social media platforms, messaging applications, and online registration forms significantly streamline the recruitment process. These tools accelerate information dissemination, simplify administrative screening, and enhance data validation through combined digital and offline verification. The system also increases the accessibility of recruitment channels and contributes to a higher number and better quality of volunteer applicants. Minor challenges such as input errors and communication gaps were present but easily resolved due to the digital literacy of most users. This study demonstrates that integrating digital information systems into volunteer recruitment enhances operational efficiency, strengthens communication, and improves the overall quality of human resource management in community-based organizations. The findings can serve as a model for religious, social, and non-profit institutions seeking to digitize their recruitment workflows. The study offers a new perspective by examining the digital transformation of volunteer recruitment within a religious community setting an area rarely explored in prior research. It highlights a hybrid model of recruitment that combines online administration with offline validation, ensuring both efficiency and authenticity in volunteer selection.

Abstract

Contemporary dakwah organizations face increasing managerial challenges due to social complexity, organizational expansion, and the pressures of modernization. Many institutions struggle to translate Qur’anic values into professional, adaptive, and accountable governance systems, particularly in the areas of delegation, leadership, and organizational structure. This study aims to systematically examine how Qur’anic verses related to delegation, leadership, and organizational structure can be conceptually integrated to address contemporary managerial challenges in dakwah organizations. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA protocol. A total of 42 peer-reviewed articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science were identified, screened, and analyzed. The data were synthesized using a thematic analysis approach to identify dominant conceptual patterns and theoretical linkages. The findings reveal three interrelated themes. First, Qur’anic delegation embodies strong ethical and structural dimensions that provide a normative foundation for accountable distribution of responsibilities. Second, Qur’anic leadership functions as both a moral compass and a strategic framework for building visionary, trustworthy, and participatory organizations. Third, effective dakwah organizational structures require the integration of Qur’anic values with contemporary management principles to ensure adaptability, sustainability, and institutional resilience. This study offers practical implications for dakwah institutions by providing a conceptual framework that supports professional governance, leadership regeneration, and structural clarity. The findings also inform policymakers and Islamic organizations in designing leadership development programs and organizational reforms grounded in Qur’anic principles. Unlike prior studies that focus primarily on normative or theoretical discussions, this research advances the literature by systematically integrating thematic Qur’anic analysis with modern organizational and leadership theories through an SLR approach, resulting in a transformative and applicable conceptual model for contemporary dakwah organizations.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed the governance of Islamic philanthropic institutions, including zakat management. Digitalization has become a strategic necessity to enhance transparency, accountability, and service efficiency in zakat institutions, particularly at the regional level. This study aims to examine the implementation of digitalized zakat management at BAZNAS Pontianak City, focusing on its contribution to transparency and service effectiveness, as well as identifying the challenges related to community digital literacy. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with zakat management staff, direct observation of internal digital systems, and documentation analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that zakat collection and distribution processes at BAZNAS Pontianak City have been effectively digitized through an internal real-time transaction recording system. Digitalization has improved administrative efficiency, accelerated reporting, and strengthened transparency and institutional accountability. However, significant challenges remain, particularly the low level of digital literacy among muzakki and mustahik, especially elderly groups, and the absence of an official, nationally integrated digital zakat application. The study highlights the need for comprehensive digital literacy programs and the development of an inclusive, integrated zakat digital platform to ensure the sustainability of digital zakat governance. Strengthening collaboration between regional and central zakat authorities is essential to optimize digital transformation and expand public trust. This study offers empirical evidence from a regional zakat institution by integrating digital governance, service effectiveness, and digital literacy challenges into a single analytical framework, thereby contributing to the limited literature on localized digital zakat management practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

The management of zakat institutions increasingly faces challenges in enhancing effectiveness, transparency, and accountability amid the growing demand for digital-based services. This study aims to examine the implementation of the Zakat BMI (Baitul Mal Internal) application as a digital zakat collection system at Baitul Mal Munzalan Indonesia. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research explores the experiences of staff, donors, and management in utilizing the internal application. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, complemented by secondary sources such as standard operating procedures, zakat collection reports, and relevant literature on zakat digitalization. The findings reveal that the digitalization of zakat management at Baitul Mal Munzalan has been implemented gradually while consistently adhering to Islamic principles. The Zakat BMI internal application, integrated with supporting digital tools such as Google Docs, WhatsApp, and the official website, has contributed to improved efficiency in recording transactions and enhanced transparency in reporting. Donors generally responded positively to the digital services; however, many still required assistance due to limited digital literacy and age-related constraints. The role of field teams in providing education and guidance proved critical in facilitating user adaptation, while technical challenges, particularly limited internet connectivity, were mitigated through the continued provision of direct services. This study implies that the integration of digital and manual systems can effectively support zakat management without compromising the core values of trustworthiness, honesty, and Sharia compliance. The novelty of this research lies in its empirical evidence on the use of an internal, non-public zakat application combined with simple digital platforms in a medium-scale zakat institution, offering practical insights for similar organizations planning to adopt digital solutions within a Sharia-compliant framework.
